- And thus the reveal of the third Musical Mane6 series is finally here :D Just in time for Halloween, the original Sci-Fi, and Horror icon himself! Frankenstein!
Introducing Twilight Sparkle as Twilight Frankenspark! A college dropout and wannabe god here to bring life to his creation! Instead of pursuing magic, Frankenspark focused on science! Determined to prove it's worth to those around him in this magic-focused world.
We LOVE the Frankenstein Musical, you should all really go check it out, and Twilight worked perfectly for the main role.
We never finished it tho, unable to figure out what to do for the ending ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Annabelle and I kept this one a secret for years, having ideas for it back in the early years of our channel when we were still making MonteCristo videos.

The main thing about the Musical Mane6 series is we wanted to put the mane6 into roles that were the opposite of their "elements".
Pinkie = Joyful Laughter/Evil Laughter
Rainbow Dash = Loyalty/Betrayal
Twilight = Magic/Science
(ok so Pinkie's is a bit of a stretch, and we made it before we had this whole 'series' idea, basing her character on her birthday episode where she goes insane, but we include it in the series because instead of her laughter being for joy, it becomes sinister and evil thanks to Hyde. Which is.... kind of an opposite?? right??)
We had ideas for the rest of the mane6 too. On Annabelle's DeviantArt, she's already revealed Fluttershy's series as being Phantom of the Opera (Flutters playing as the Phantom). Based a little on the episode where Flutterguy sings backstage. But also cause the Phantom is anything but Kind to those around him (manipulating the opera owners, harming Carlotta, murdering stagehands.. you know, the usual when going to the opera).
Rarity was (as many of you guessed) Sweeny Todd, (with Pinkie as Mrs Lovett). I don't remember why we thought this was a good opposite to generosity, I think it's cause most of the characters are completely selfish, but whatever.
And finally Applejack. She gave us a lot of trouble, we changed her musical around a few times, never settling on anything until we thought Les Mis would work. As Jean Valjean (Or Jack Valjack haha) we thought the role worked for her cause after Jean is released on parole, he decides to create a new identity, and lie to everyone about who he is. Constantly chased through the rest of his life by this lie, and Javert (who I think we were considering would be played by Luna)
We're still not super sold on this musical, but ehh.
And yeah, that was the Musical Mane6 series. We're not going to be continuing it. Maybe we'll do one or two songs from a musical if we feel like it, but not a full series of them like we did with MonteCristo. I think one of our ideas was that it would be Cruelty? to offset her Kindness. (But I honestly can't remember and I'm not sure cruelty is exactly right to describe Phantom, like he's manipulative to everyone in the opera house and kills people so maybe?).

@@InkPotts I honestly think for musicals Heathers would be perfect for Fluttershy. She's the kind of person that would see the good in people even when they're hurting her.
I think we should all take a moment to appreciate how much Inkpotts is spoiling us right now with all the storyboards they’ve been uploading.
The only sad part is that it stops before fully showing the monster. I bet i can guess who it is though from that shot of a paw.

Damn, this is epic, and the role fits Twilight to a T. The way he/she moves and her expressions show her dancing between sanity and insanity, it's just perfect. I've never heard of this musical before but now I'm definitively interested to check it out. And just like with all the other videos you posted throughout Halloween, I'm on the one hand extremely happy and excited to see these and the other very sad that these are all dead projects. But as I said under a previous video, I'm still glad to get some kind of closure =)
I remember your old channel banner, and how excited I was to figure out what musicals the silhouettes of the other Mane 6 would represent. Thanks for sharing what they were. I got Sweeny Todd right, but wouldn't have figured out the others at all xD

Real talk - I've listened to this song a hundred times (and loved it every time), but the way you boarded this has given me an all new appreciation for it. Especially that bridge, @2:52 - 3:15 in particular just hit so differently. You captured a sense of elation within the madness that I am in absolute awe of!
I've been a fan of your animatics since the COMC series (my favorite musical now, btw, so thank you for introducing me to it.) The expressions, the way you envision a scene, and the sheer scale of your imagination! This one is definitely one of my new favorites, regardless of whether or not it was finished. ❤

While it's sad that you're leaving the musical Mane6 projects behind, IK happy that you still have an artistic spark to do things that benefit y'all.
Your work is always something I looked forwards to when coming back from deployments, and seeing at least two of your series's completed has brought me happiness of the years seeing them grow and evolve.
The monte Cristo series specifically has given me so much over the years, from my love for the movie/play/album to having talking/reference points for my own **media dramatis**, and for all the work you guys put into these projects. I thank you!

Sad that you won't be continuing the full musical series like with Monte Cristo, but damn do I appreciate what you've made already. I'm so glad you did the Musical Mane6 in the order you did, especially because it's being discontinued. Frankenstein, Jekyll and Hyde, and Count of Monte Cristo are my three favorite musicals. Jeez, so well done. I watched someone else animatic with this song and, even though it looked nice, it wasn't near as dynamic and well staged as yours. You really made it match the musical vibe. I really think staging and dynamic poses is the most important part, and you nailed it.
As someone who's been a long time fan, and has found so much inspiration in your videos I cannot BELIEV how long it took me to finally watch this. (Life got away from me).
But man, now that I'm here. Once again, you have shown me the existance of a musical that I didn't know about XD.
And Frankenstein is PERFECT for Twilight.
Seriously, seeing how much your art has improved over all this time is just fantastic. And I love how the movement flows and all the poses and expressions (amazing as always. I draw expressions so much because of you guys tbh) and the shots.

I remember doing this show when I was really young (Granted I didnt really GET it back then-) I think I made a comment back then on one of your old videos asking you to do something like this! If I didnt, then I definitely thought about it- so this is really cool to see!!!
Wow this is good! Musical is great and animation appealing! Very nice. The end was fitting too, even though it was said to be unfinished. The chorus started singing just when end screen was shown, and it would have been a great position for the end credits anyways. But anyways, enjoyed the animatic very much, and appreciate the effort it has taken to create this! It is fully finished product for me.

Fun fact: the original book heavily implies that college dropout Victor Frankenstein used Alchemy rather than Science to create his infamous patchwork homunculus.
Basically, he wasn't kicked out because his ideas were "too revolutionary" but laughed out because he was proposing using a form of science that had been outdated & discredited for hundreds of years.
Edward did not like that.
