    When I'm KING every time-lapse or slow-mo video segment will be required to have an on-screen gauge indicating how much the speed has been altered from real time.

    That was really spectacular! My Icelandic version from last November using only stills pales into insignificance. Guess I'll just have to go back (sigh) and do a movie next time. :-)

    This has always amazed me and I would do anything to move to Alaska! I love cold weather and snow! I WILL see this in person before I die lol! I have no idea how to go about it and want to make sure I go in the right time of the year!!!

      I lived in northwestern ontario for 30 years and the best time to watch them there was in late October and into december.

    This is awesome. When I think we would have been there in Feb 2014, but instead went up in March so we could also see the ice sculpture competition and then when we got there we found about the Arctic Olympics and attended the opening ceremony and a couple of games. We saw no aurora during our stay at the AF Base. :(

    I'm wondering if the colors are actual or was the video enhanced. Either way it is quite spectacular.especially with the fir trees in the foreground.

    Absolutely spectacular. I am in complete awe. Such a beautiful event.
    I hope this isn't a rude invasive question, but I was wondering if there was anyway to find out what kind of camera she used? :)

      EpicsTales This was shot on a Canon 5D MKIII. It's a time lapse using all still images that are then animated.

    hi!, is the video speed up? or is the real speed of the aurora boreal?

    • @JazzcatSings
      @JazzcatSings 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Although it appears to be a video, it is not. Each frame is a single time lapse photo, which is then 'transformed into a 'video'. What you are seeing happen was probably happening quite a bit slower than you see here. It also was probably not near as bright looking in reality. I say 'probably' because I was not there while she took her photos but, I have been around other photographers shooting the Aurora.

    Another wonderful happening & gift of our Universe. It was on my 20ths, traveling to Europe on PAN AMERICAN AIRWAYS that I had the wonderful experience of watching this beautiful show of Nature. The Captain came over the loud speakers paging system, and advise us to look to our left of the aircraft, to watch the phenomenon taking place, it was awesome, I was traveling as an Employee familiarization trip, must have been, when I was working for Pan American Airways or Braniff International, but it was an experience not to ever be forgotten, maybe having had a couple of drinks made it even more vivid yet. What a wonderful show of Nature.
    I would love to have seen the ECLIPSE we just had this week of 2015, another beauty just like the Aurora Borealis, although on a much quicker thing in time lapse than the Aurora Borealis was, still one more gift & an awesome Nature show.

    Please show REAL TIME.
    *DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT SOUNDS FROM AN AURORA GENERATED NEAR GROUND LEVEL?*
    Neighbor said he and sister heard sounds generated near ground level! I find this more interesting than the aurora!

    • @guinl.l.7762
      @guinl.l.7762 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The sounds are accumulated charges from the geomagnetic storm discharging creating a static/spark noise.

    Every one should drive an electric car, solar panels should be in ever building and ever state and country should own a dam and windmills. For new laws. Global warming will be stopped if we all unite together as one to do our part and to reduce heat. Our chance to become heroes to this world.

    My kid asked what this was and I told her, "it doesn't matter what it's called just know that Jesus created this." She laughed and she's only eight. I'm so proud of her.

      Essentially it's solar flares striking the Earth's magnetic shield causing electrons to interact with neutral atoms in our upper atmosphere before dropping down to a lower energy state releasing the light you see.
