You wrote: "Colors desaturated to represent what my eye saw". That is rare. Thank you for your wonderfull footage!

Thanks, the thumbnail for this video is a picture how my camera saw the aurora that night, which are the true colors. Our eyes can´t capture it like that.

Hi, thanks... imagine how it was standing there and seeing it live! It was so amazing that I forgot at some point to take pictures and video...just being amazed and stunned by the beauty of it.

My wife and I were in Yellowknife for the first half of October 2024 to chase and photograph Aurora. We were so happy to have witnessed this and to have photographed it.

I saw those October Aurora in New York, the result of the huge solar storm. I've never seen so much red / pink aurora. Some places even got yellow. Very unique colors.

I was in Northern Wisconsin with my dad and even a little after twilight the aurora was well under way with a curtain of magenta rays and green dunes and the display went crazy. I did not get any video but I did get tons of still pics.

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF OUR MAGNETIC FIELD IS NOT AS STRONG AND THE SOLAR STORM IS MUCH, MUCH STRONGER???? WOULD THAT BE THE END OF LIFE???I DO NOT LIKE TO SEE ANY OF THEM.

95% of the charged particles coming from the sun bounce off the magnetic shield. Without this a powerful solar storm hitting the earth full force would wipe out all life on earth. So we´re lucky we have this protective shield around our planet. Worst thing now that can happen with an extremely powerful solar storm: satelites would stop working (happens actually rather frequent), our cell phones would stop working, basically every electronic device would malfunction, power grids could be effected...
Every 150 years an extremely powerful solar storm is expected, last one was in 1858 (G5 storm) and there were a few close to this scale that barely missed the earth.
