I applied one spray of Lush Lust on my wrist whilst waiting to pay for some bath stuff, and it started quite bright, but soon turned my stomach. Driving home, everytime I turned my steering wheel, this forced itself up my nostrils. If this is your fragrance, then the longevity is insane as it remained after washing my wrist three times, and on the leather trim on my coat it was noticeable for well over a week.
Love that no matter how much you dislike a fragrance you always fight to find the good in it... very telling of what's inside that beautiful soul of yours. Great review brother.
I never go out my way to slam a perfume. There is companies and a perfumer at the end of this. I always try to be passive as possible but always honest and balanced.
I went into this video knowing this fragrance. I have the solid version which doesn’t have the cloying spillage. Gasped when I saw you sprayed 3 times!
I wore this for years when I was younger. I wasn't particularly interested in fragrances at the time, but I remember it being a really sexy, dirty jasmine. I revisited Lust last year, and suddenly I despised it. It's hard to go back to something like this after wearing Lutens and Malle. They did, in fact, alter the composition last year, so I am wondering which version you are testing and whether or not that would make a difference. The current jasmine note smells very different from the older one, and its longevity is shot. Last time I tried to wear it my colleague asked me, "Why do you smell like a bath bomb?" I binned it.
Lust is massively intense and it's always been polarising- people either love it or hate it. I happen to love it- it's bold and unapologetic- whereas a lot of commercial perfumes are a bit limp and boring. In terms of the price- Lush always use expensive ingredients- it may not be reflected in the price because they make up for it in other products.
I used to hate this fragrance with a passion because of the overly dominant ylang ylang, then I got a jasmine sambac plant. The strangest thing is the sillage from Lust actually smells like the plant's blossoms and I grew to love it. It's an acquired taste for sure.
I didn’t expect this reaction at all. My discovery of Lust happened while meeting a new person who wore it, and I loved it so much that I couldn’t helped but asked the person what was it. It is very luscious, strong, dominant jasmine. On my skin I can smell rose, jasmine and ylang ylang all at once and I think that’s a story in it - an expressive floral bomb, that is irresistible and make your head spin - either in good or bad way. I guess it’s a polarizing perfume
Aaron is so sensitive to smell, it's funny watching him doing and trying his best to concentrate while the fragrance is beating him up lol!!! Love you Aaron ❤️
I love it, it lasts and it's so inexpensive. Beyond that, analysis cannot deter me, though Aaron's is very interesting, particularly the ingredient pricing and colour comments. Some scents are a disaster for me, but this wasn't one of them.
Smelt this at the Lush store in Panama. It was not my favorite. It smelt strong of Jasmine to the point that it smelt putrid to me. I like Jasmine, in small amounts it's lovely. I gave it to my dad to smell and because of the abrasive opening, he immediately pulled back lol. I ended up going with rentless which is a sweet patchouli dominant fragrance and much better imo.
Don't think I will be getting this one. This is my favourite review to date. The approach from three different angles was brilliant, safety, chemist and perfumery. Look forward to the next one🦄👍🦄👍🦄
THANK YOU! This gets so hyped as a jasmin scent. And when I was looking for a autentic Jasmin and got directed to this, I just coulden't belive why ppl thought it was so good. Its allright as a bthbomb, but not as a parfum
OK so I own this and love how much of the real oils it contains. But I agree it is a bit heavy and old fashioned. How would you say I could elavate it, layering wise or mixing it with other chemicals?
Here is my take. Lust needs to be worn immediately after shower. Give 20-25 mins to settle down to your body fragrance and it does settle. Do not apply generous, the ancient parfums and Ouds do have strong base and notes so in a nutshell it depends how you wear it. One spray is more than sufficient..golly gosh! Lust is good! Tricky and ancient.. not for everyone
As someone who makes perfumes as a hobby, I can certainly relate to the issue of using too many naturals. It's very difficult to get the balance just right and often times, it just ends up smelling like a clumped, muddled mess. I love using naturals but I'm really trying to educate myself on the usage of aroma chemicals now as well.
Honestly since I discovered TOM FORD and Kilian I somehow feel no other fragrance worth to pay for also love try your fragrances too because I feel you are honest and real keep it up Arron 👑
I too struggled with this one. I have mixed feelings about their fragrances as they sound great in theory, though just wear very badly (even in the air). I too get a lot of what I would describe as "bad breath" notes from this (and just jasmine in general). I purchased it anyways because I love jasmine so much, though can never bring myself to wear it because I know deep down that it's bad lol. ...and the color. Have never been able to get a reasonable explanation as to why it is bright red. They claim it's all natural and from the essential oils, though I don't know of any essential oils to impart that kind of color, especially diluted.
Just bought it last night .. love it . I get no civet, or endols or moth balls.. I get a heady euphoric feeling and I can say my husband had a immediate reaction .. if you know what I mean lol ⬆️⬆️✅
It reminds me of the most concentrated last sip of the jasmine tea infused with rose when I first spray it. But then on my skin it becomes softer, more buttery, as if you added vanilla oatmilk to it.
I really appreciate your reviews and respect your opinion but I find lush to be perfect for my liking some of them not all but thank you so much for your honesty I’m a big fan of your work and personality well done 👍
I would like to see you review Lush "Lord of Misrule"....Pretty potent stuff that I think is a pretty good Winter/Rainy Day scent! Good review as always! ;)
Your channel convinced me to dive into the hobby of fragrances, and my first purchase was a bottle of Tom Ford's Black Orchid, and it was a fake! Scent wore off in 5 minutes and the packaging was a little suspect...can you make a video on how to stay away from fakes?
Don't ever buy off Amazon either. They do not police frags at all, loads of fakes. Disappointingly, some reviewers link to Amazon in their descriptions, but I'm here to say I was ripped off twice buying frags from Amazon. Never again.
Would you be ever so kind as to tell us what makes perfumes smell like pickle juice. I have Lancôme Tresor La Nuit Nude and the opening smells a little like pickle juice. This is also the case with Marc Jacobs Decadence and Ariana Grande Thank a you Next both of which I do not own.
People should really be wary of wearing this in close quarters with others because the indolic aspect of this can really smell horrible in sillage. The people around you can get a waft of shit or a rotting tooth as you walk by. A woman I work with had several patients request another nurse because she smelled so bad. She ended up getting sent home and was asked not to wear it again. (We're not actually supposed to be wearing any perfumes in the hospital anyway but occasionally people do but this was the first time anyone had such a dramatic reaction.)
I love this perfume! I’m insensitive to indoles so maybe that’s why I don’t smell the civet quality. To me this is very in your face, it doesn’t try to please anyone who don’t get it. It screams “f off if you don’t like it”.
When you said this is full of naturals that actually made a whole lot of sense to me. Most Lush fragrances are the same. It’s like they made perfumes using nothing but pharmaceutical essential oils. Lush are hundreds of years late with their perfumes.
@@adamp108 sorry for not replying sooner, I was only reading books in Swedish at that moment.. Now I'm reading Neil Chapman's book - PERFUME, in search of your signature scent. I really enjoy it!
Aaron! Was just watching this review although it's from years ago, but just need to tell you this. Thank you so much for this! Okay I had to go back to this video and put a like on it for making me bust up laughing after finally testing it out for myself. 😂 The opening is a bit extreme, but for me in a good way. Ì love this scent in its entire duration. The negative review made me want to test it out even more! You can either blame or thank the Imp of the Perverse for this one! Thank you. 😊
If I could afford a sample of Frederic Malle’s ‘ The Night ‘ to send you, I would love your take on it. The fecal aspect is at a level I’ve never experienced before , ‘ skanky ‘ just doesn’t cover it but it is surprisingly very good.
Aaron Terence Hughes - Yes, you have a few ouds on the list Aaron, I can’t imagine them being as polarising as ‘ The Night ‘. It retails upwards of £600 for 50 ml. God knows what a 5ml. sample would be, anyhow it’s way outside my spending comfort range. If you ever get a chance to get your nose on it please take it. It’s quite extraordinary. Hope sales went well today, enjoy what you can of the weekend👍🏻
@@AaronTerenceHughes The Night is ludicrously priced at £985 for 100ml, and what you get is a frag that pretty much smells like the most fecal oud (i'm guessing real Indian oud?) has been added to Malle's Portrait of a Lady, which is a spicy incense/patch/berry fruits and rose frag. . Anyhoo, I love The Night but the opening is borderline vomit inducing as the oud is so pungent, its like a mix of super concentrated liquid horse poop and curdled milk/dried vomit, and that is not an exaggeration. Its one for perfumistas and hardcore fragheads only i'd say as the last time I wore it a guy walked in to a meeting room I was in and instantly said 'This room smells like poop!' and who genuinely wants people thinking their frag of choice is Eau de Horse Poop? I'll be wearing this as a guilty pleasure during self-isolation or when I venture out to the shops, as its guaranteed to keep folk at least 2 meters from you...........
Can you review Dunhill Icon, fragrantica has great reviews for this fragrance but to me its way to earthy almost dirty?? Maybe my nose hasn't developed well enough 🤷🏽♂️ would love to get your take on it
If you like a jasmine perfumes try Miss Dior Originale from 2011. Once the perfume settles down it's pure Jasmine Sambac. Love it! In my nose smells very unisex because of patchouli and galbanum.
Ylang ylang on it’s own, gives most people a headache. I’ve been there. Please wash it off! This hurts! 😫 I’ve never smelled anything from Lush that I enjoy. The products smell like noise, and out of balance.
So, does it smell like a thick fluffy indolic yellow floral with oily undertones? I have Ylang-Ylang oil and it's very heady with that complex scent profile. By the way, isn't Ylang-Ylang cheaper than Jasmine?
@@tonymalizia I really must get a sample from that house. Problem is im so busy I keep forgetting. Im doing all the DPD labels now. Then Tomorrow doing some interesting filming and then Monday despatching everything with crimping unicorn at the factory
Ylang ylang destroyes this perfume unfortunately. Also the red colour I don't like makes clothes red. Also we're not suppose to put essential oils direct in the skin.
Oh Gosh.. this spray version of this perfume absolutely puts me off as well. As a massive jasmine lover I was extremely disappointed. However, the solid perfume of LUST I actually like it für layering, it's sweeter an .. how do I put it .. kinda wearable? :D Maybe you put your nose on it eventually! Thanks for you opinion!!
I used to work for a niche perfume brand in France and I dare to buy this. Worst mistake ever!!! I hate it! the composition is cheap i would say vulgar ! It feels like a loud unfinished story . A sooo one dimension perfume . Thank you for the honest review
I got some 'Breath Of God' by Lush (Gorilla perfumes). Now that is one nauseating fragrance. Smashes you in the face and doesn't let up. Ps. I sent 2 samples to your registered address in Salford instead of the one on your website. Will you still get them Aaron?
I got them. But had to remove your comment as your printed my address. Ive had death threats from odd Frag heads so please be careful about what you put on here
@@AaronTerenceHughes I'm really sorry about that Aaron. I'd assumed it was a business address and I didn't specify a number. My mistake 😱 Ps. I'm really interested in your take on Pegwell Bay.
This one smells good on me, dirty jasmine I could say, it smells so strong, so heavy at first hour, after few hours it smells sweeter, I don't get so much ylang ylang on me. But it's too heavy for almost people, it makes them have a headache ( same to me at the first time). 1 spray is enough now :)))) but it smells too dirty, "filthy" for me to wear it. I have worked for Lush, and almost the whole team hate Lust too =)))) but they said it smells good on me. In my opinion they have made Frangipani, Dirty so well. I don't know so much about the raw material but I think they have material with good quality, but the way they blend them... hmmm, ahhh, nahhhhhh 😂
@@AaronTerenceHughes thank u 🙌 I like jasmine so much too, u can try lys41 from Le Labo (jasmine mixed with tuberose, my signature scent for years). Carnal Flower from Frédéric Malle is also quite interesting
That's funny, I hate dirty, it just smells like baby powder, which is a total turn off for me, the only perfume I really like from them is sikkim girls, I like karma in soap form but as a perfume I dont like it as much.
Old fashion perfumery I love that analogy so true I can see antique perfumes just heavy in dense concentrations before synthetics were made to balance. Sadly too many synthetics now you need a balance. I am very familiar with the LUST scent. Omg he's right it smells like a fresh warm shit. Like its pleasant shit if shit had a spectrum, but still fresh human shit right before the flush.
Im actually releasing two in a few weeks. Apart from that I have no idea. The first time I smell stuff is when its infant of a camera. Ive been developing fragrance for 10 years so bit hidden away with raw materials.
It sounds like they have smashed it with the ylang-ylang for its "aphrodisiac" property's with its name etc over making something nice. Civet comes from the anal glands I believe lol the things we use in perfumery is questionable. I mean how did people first discover some of the ingredients what on was they doing with Civet butt to discover it🤔🤣
Hi lovely Aaron , Lol your face and I thought you would like this one....so interesting as I like this but must admit going to work when freshly put on I have noticed some faces a bit like yours lol . It is a beast for sure. I hope you get to my Carina I sent by Oliver and co ..when I first smelt this ugh!! But it grew on me . I loved your take on this ..going to see if I get the moth balls x
HAHAHA omg this is so funny and SO True. I bought 30 ml of this a couple of years ago and I probably sprayed it three or four times. It's very add...and I actually get gasoline as well as the fecal Jasmine. I just keep it for reference.
It's actually true, that's what it is, but in a nice way, if that can ever be said. It is kinky for sure:-D But Lush is surprisingly bold in their frags, despite being a mass market brand.

I bought a 100ml blind as I adore jasmine and boy do I regret it; I could cry! That's £60 in the bin 😢 This stuff is vile! It smells like unrefined attar fake jasmine oil that they sell in the spice shops in Egypt or Tunisia and that's just for a few minutes then it turns into straight up moth balls and lasts for centuries. An excellent fragrance for pirates and Victorian gravediggers. If you are trying to attract a man, or a woman with this stink, be careful as they will run away from you as fast as they can.
This thing - sorry can't even call it a perfume - is a disgrace to the world of perfumery and violates the senses without mercy. I have smelled thousands of fragrances from Poundland/Dollar tree scented alcohol to the finest fragrances money can buy, and I am also very familiar with the natural aromas of both jasmin sambac and grandiflorum. This lust stuff is vile.

adamp108 I can understand that! I actually don’t go out much as I’m so busy in my little factory and developing fragrance. But I aggree
Hahaha, I love it... I could live in a Lush store
Lol I own a bottle and I wish it was a bit dirtier. I find very clean and ice cream-like.. and I detect 0 civet. Interesting take!
Wonder if that dark red would stain lighter clothing
At that concentration I would think so.
Ylang ylang on it’s own, gives most people a headache. I’ve been there. Please wash it off! This hurts! 😫
I’ve never smelled anything from Lush that I enjoy. The products smell like noise, and out of balance.
well I love this perfume and find myself slightly insulted by the discussed faces you're making as a reaction to it...
Have you posted a video of a fragrance you like? If so what fragrance was it, that’s not your fragrance. Thanks
When I saw you do three sprays my face went 😳😮
I like it. I don't know any other perfume that has both Jasmine and Ylang Ylang notes.❤
So, does it smell like a thick fluffy indolic yellow floral with oily undertones? I have Ylang-Ylang oil and it's very heady with that complex scent profile. By the way, isn't Ylang-Ylang cheaper than Jasmine?
Massively. I think Ylang is £1200/kg and jasmine is £4000/kg. I love it to but at trace amounts
@@AaronTerenceHughes I love that rich creamy woody floral Ylang-Ylang & Sandalwood accord in Guerlain's Samsara.
@@tonymalizia I really must get a sample from that house. Problem is im so busy I keep forgetting. Im doing all the DPD labels now. Then Tomorrow doing some interesting filming and then Monday despatching everything with crimping unicorn at the factory
@@AaronTerenceHughes Yes, you should definitely sample such perfumers with a century old tradition like Jacques and Jean-Paul Guerlain.
Maybe you put your nose on it eventually! Thanks for you opinion!!
I can tell you why that is. The civet and indol used would be flatter in a balm. In a spray your getting 10 times he dose 10 times stronger.
@@AaronTerenceHughes awesome thanks for the insight! Keep up your awesome work and stay safe xx
I used to work for a niche perfume brand in France and I dare to buy this. Worst mistake ever!!! I hate it! the composition is cheap i would say vulgar ! It feels like a loud unfinished story . A sooo one dimension perfume . Thank you for the honest review
Heavy Jasmine makes me nauseous because it reminds me of the many times I have drank Jasmine tea on an empty stomach. 😆
hey man can you rate the lush olive branch shower gel? i‘m not joking
sesaz haha!!!!!! Defo
@@adamp108 i love the smell of it. sometimes i put it on my neck instead of a fragrance
Review Kiehl’s Musk!
Lush claims to be cruelty free so I dont know if they would use real civit.
Paul Di all uk cosmetic companies are cruelty free. But they don’t export to China and don’t use mica that children have harvested from mica minds
My mistake 😱
Ps. I'm really interested in your take on Pegwell Bay.
@@gospelgrace Its no problem at all. It wouldn't be a problem if I didn't get death threats.
Your very lucky to be able to ware this and make is smell lovely.
@@AaronTerenceHughes thank u 🙌 I like jasmine so much too, u can try lys41 from Le Labo (jasmine mixed with tuberose, my signature scent for years). Carnal Flower from Frédéric Malle is also quite interesting
@@hangvu4974 Ive reviewed Carnal Flower. I will be doing more womans fragrance!!
That's funny, I hate dirty, it just smells like baby powder, which is a total turn off for me, the only perfume I really like from them is sikkim girls, I like karma in soap form but as a perfume I dont like it as much.
Paul Di karma soap I used to use!!!!!
Dang, I'm waiting for mine in the mail. Just got 1oz though. I hope I like it...🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
I would suggest applying one spray at a distance.
I might have to go to Lush and smell this just to know what Ylang-Ylang smells like
HappyTurtle don’t forget the civet and Indols!
@@AaronTerenceHughes Hahaha yes those too
Good review Aaron, can’t see this being made into a bath bomb for you anytime soon 😝
NO.
Aaron Terence Hughes haha
I felt the same way about this one. Love LUSH, just not LUST.
Honest opinion is the best !
Thats why you come here!
Hello , i subscribed to your channel and i am intrested if you know some good spring/summer fragrance ?
Im actually releasing two in a few weeks. Apart from that I have no idea. The first time I smell stuff is when its infant of a camera. Ive been developing fragrance for 10 years so bit hidden away with raw materials.
@@AaronTerenceHughes Good to know thank you :)
Jasmine can be done so well. But it needs a lot of aroma chemicals to lengthen it. Lower the animal notes.
HAHAHA omg this is so funny and SO True. I bought 30 ml of this a couple of years ago and I probably sprayed it three or four times. It's very add...and I actually get gasoline as well as the fecal Jasmine. I just keep it for reference.
Somebody sent you this and has been wearing it 😄..
Sean P some people love naturals and some people love a brand. Even if something isn’t too good. Each to there own. It’s not for me though
Strong jasmine by itself, smells like people smoking meth to me, but I was a raver back in the 90s so smelled that smell alot during those times.
Paul Di Thats the indols
Girl it's the carrying on the house for me & front of a camera is for you SUGH 😆🤣😂
It you let it sit for 30 min, this ugly little caterpillar will transform into a beautiful colourful butterfly.
🤣🦄ATH!🦄 Thank you for torturing yourself to give us this review. 🤗
HAHAHAA. My pleasure. :)
What is ur zodiac sign?
“Feces combined with moth balls.” Lmao
It's actually true, that's what it is, but in a nice way, if that can ever be said. It is kinky for sure:-D But Lush is surprisingly bold in their frags, despite being a mass market brand.
I hated this one too. It just smells like poopy flowers. I haven’t actually found a Lush that I like. They’re all off putting in some way.
Have you tried sikkim girls?
Paul Di Yes. It was the better of them, but I didn’t really like it that much either.
TRY THIS Jasmin Antique
Eau de Toilette
by Rogue Perfumery REAL JASMIN
That look you had in the says it all.. (SHIT, why did I spray this crap on my arm) lol. Peace my brother. WOOOOOOOO
Bronx Birdman see what I do for you. 😭
adamp108 soaps hot water and neat alcohol. I’m ready for this virus!!! Lol
@@adamp108 We are all great. I have a bit of alcohol. I actually need it for other reasons. To make perfume. So A little bit worried about that TBH
@@adamp108 Its crazy. Im in the same position as you. Im phoning up tomorrow and seeing if I can but 200 litres. Which I dont want to buy. But il have to
It smelt like fecal matter on me.
I've never been this early. Wow. Another great vid. Big fan. Cant wait for coronavirus to disappear so my wife and I can pay you that visit I've been promising lol. Maybe try some of your fragrances and definitely review them.
scary times:)
LUSH MEXICO APESTA. Pésimo servicio. Tenía programafa una entrega el día de hoy en la zona Pick-Up de plaza Satélite México y es hora en que nadue contesta. Abandono el lugar con tienpo perdido y frustrado.😢😢😢
I'm a fan. This is not necessarily connected on the vid but just read conversation about you on base notes. Really terrible, please dont read them. I feel emotional while reading it as if I am in your position. I understand them but criticising you without trying your creations is unfair for me.
I dont read anything. Im too busy working very hard. They can say what they want but they are very basic and full of hatred, jealously and darkness. I am a very small company doing something different and being successful. I make fragrance for a people who want something different. I am saving dogs and cats with the son dogs trust and raising money for mental health charity. They hate it. Ive had death threats. My old number was given out to some of them and I had phonicalls at 2am.
@@AaronTerenceHughes Please continue what you're doing. We unicorns are proud of you and your creations. Such a great artist do not deserve such hatred. But yeah, you cannot please everyone else. Prove them wrong and be the next big thing! 🦄🌈
Stewart Cabuyao I’m happy being me doing what I do for people who buy my stuff! It’s so sad that people are so full of hate! Kind of funny I’m triggering all these people! Frag heads clutching there pearls at the name slut. Makes me chuckle tbh
I wish ATH leader of the Mighty Unicorns, would send me a gift to South Africa soon 😎😉🦄🇿🇦
I find Lush as a whole overpriced for what you’re getting. They’re known more for their bath bombs.
I used to like one of there fragrance actually. But in a soap form when I did my a levels in Bath years ago
Thank you for saving me from this one.
How sad. I love this fragrance. But you had me laughing throughout your review 😂
This sounds awful! Great honest review Aaron!
Would you like this the sample?? JK
@@AaronTerenceHughes Aaron I know you already threw that in the garbage! You couldn't wash it off fast enough! Lol The color of that juice was ridiculous, especially since it was so cheap. Who knows what is in that.
@@builtfit1291 You guessed correctly. !!!!
We get the point, it's ylang ylang dominant. Stop smelling it already!
