    Hey your NAD cassette player looked very familiar. I bought the 6100 model along with a NAD system in the late 80's, just as cassettes were being phased out. It didn't actually get much use and I unfortunately sold it a decade or more after the purchase. Thanks for the tour!

    If it's not already the case, you should put a UV filter coated glass in front of that autographed paper. It's yellowing a lot and writing seems to be faded too. It would preserve it way better.

    He looks about my age and from the CD collection makes me wonder if he went through his TELARC phase ? Lol I sure did. I think it was to see if my equipment could handle it not as much if it was as musical as other offerings.
    Living the ATC units he has!! Holy shit those are amazing and I understand why he chose them; if a lot of his favorite studios used drivers from the same company while recording the masters, it makes sense to reproduce the sound from the same pedigree of drivers. :)
    Very cool!

    Splendid and one thing I wanted to add for your Dark Side Of The Moon comparison(for whatever reason there's no comments page yet for your terrific comparison. Firstly: What about 8 Track tape?? Next when it comes to digital I'd love to hear a 24bit 96KHz(or even 192KHz) sampling of the vinyls and the tapes to see if the digital recording of those wonderful analogue mediums is spot on or not. The reason I mention this is because thanks to the recent King Crimson box sets which provide Blu-ray audio discs featuring 24bit needle drops of the original vinyl's I've been blown away and most people including myself are unable to tell the difference between the vinyl or the high definition needle drop recording. Once again thanks for showing us the beautiful reel to reel gear and I admire the way you cherish these spectacular mediums. (I've lost count of the amount of people who practically gave away there vinyl collections and all of a sudden wish they hadn't now the vinyl seen is coming back but most importantly because it sounds WAY better than a CD. Blu-ray audio however has got to be the digital equivalent of having virtual vinyl or reel to reel. PS. Nice turntable there. Myself I use a Technics SL-1700 MK2 and I have to say it's still amazing even now. If only more manufacturers produced direct drive turntables. I'm always dubious of all the belt drive tables due to having a cheap one when I first started out in vinyl and discovering the belt was incorrect and the speed was wrong for all my listening up to that point. Bring on the direct drive turntable revolution again manufacturers PLEASE!!!! I'd love to know your thoughts on the quality of the Oppo player there. I've been debating that or the Yamaha equivalent for a nice Blu-ray audio player. Many thanks and keep sharing your audio adventures. Sean.

    • @anadialog
      @anadialog  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sean and thank you for your compliments! Actually, there is s load of comments for the Dark Side (re-open your browser) plus, in the video description (maybe you did not watch the entire video) there are high resolution files 192Khz/24bit for download of all media! 8 track is a very low-fi format that is why I excluded it. The Oppo are great but I got an Audiocom Signature modified Oppo so I really do not know how it performs normally. It is unfortunate that they discontinued the production. Interesting the King Crimson reissues...will check them...

    Thanks for the tour. Love the vids and as a child of the 80's analog informed my taste in music. On a non-music topic, I was hoping for some info about at an item that sits over the right side of your head (your right viewers left) in your Pink Floyd comparison vid. It looked to be made of wood and had what appears to be a goat and some rustic folks carved into it. The item just caught my eye and I would be very thankful for some additional info.

      Yes, that is the sacred family (Jesus, Joseph and Mary) sculpted by a fantastic old artisan who lives in Northern Italy, Willy Messner. He uses a naif style that resembles Romanic chourches style. Truly amazing. I visited his workshop in Trentino when I was a kid. Now, after more than 15 years I was able to purchase one of his pieces for our wedding anniversary (the so-called wood anniversary, 5 years). Here is his website: www.willymessner.it

      Thanks! Wel, that is an old room tour. Many things have changed. My Studer is still here though. It was not serviced by a company but a special guy that I know is not repairing anymore. I know another guy here in Italy who does a great job on a variety of tape gear, Giovanbattista Currado. Try writing to him, mentioning that I gave you his contact, maybe he can help: www.revoxa77.com/

    Nice video! ATC's are good speakers but they required a lot of power to sound properly. Most of the recording studios around the world use ATC monitors. What kind of rack's are you using?

    • @anadialog

      The speakers are long gone. Now happily living with a pair of GoldenEar Triton Reference. The racks are the same, all walnut Guizu hifi racks.

    I don't doubt for a second that your stereo must sound superb but, to me, it has not enough heavyweight killers, I need much more to be impressed by the gear. The attic is marvellous, maybe a wooden floor would sound the same but would score higher in aesthetics department.
    I was totally impressed when you said your prime tongue wasn't English, I thought, how well this guy vocalizes the words that I could understand him even without the help of english subtitles!
    By the way, your reel to reel machines are extraordinary but it is an area where I'm not a connoisseur.

      @@anadialog I own R1, ES and SACD 1 series from Sony, big amplifiers, heavy sources and pre amps etc. But my listening room is by far much less than yours, my loudspeakers system is TAOC FC-3000 Coroner + REL Stentor Sub.
      Believe it or not, the 90 per cent of the work in my everyday set up is accomplished via a humble Yamaha NT-CD670 😂, and it sounds great!!!! It's true that my room is only 11 square meters but it is acoustically treated.
      With the passing of the years I've become more like a collector than an audiophile and the experience has taught me that no necessarily the most expensive has to be superior per se...

      Piccolissime cose. Una cosa che mi ha convinto che potevi essere italiano è stato un gesto della mano per dire “tanto tempo fa”, che penso sia una nostra esclusiva. In ogni caso bel canale e con Zappa penso sarebbe interessante confrontare LP e CD visto che li ha modificato pesantemente.

    Hi, i really want to get a vintage reel to reel tape machine. I don`t want to use it as a functioning machine i just want one because i think they look beautiful, like a piece of sculpture. I especially like the look of the vintage models with silver and chrome facias with the silver dials and knobs.
    Thanks for sharing, i always enjoy your videos and learning from you about sound and equipment.

    • @anadialog
      @anadialog  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Well, among the most beautiful I would say the Studer A80 but it is big. Among the portable ones I used o have a NAGRA IV-S...probably the most beautiful piece of gear ever created...I miss it dearly! Other solutions for aesthetics are perhaps the Technics RS line (check my video to see some and more examples: th-cam.com/video/EnUhGjc_Er8/w-d-xo.html). Unfortunately the gorgeous ones are also the most expensive! A cheap solution may be the Pioneer RT-909...I would check ebay and write in the description 'broken' or 'not working' you should find cheaper deals.

    I'm very sorry to inform you but those BEATLES Autographs are not authentic. They are however tied to the Beatles. They are a set signed by either Mal Evans or Neil Aspineil, the Beatles road managers. They would sign for them when not available.

    • @anadialog
      @anadialog  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fortunately that is not the case. They were signed together with Bob Barry who personally told my mother that he collected the autographs!
