The Empire Was Right - The Series Part 2 - Palpatine and Slavery

  • The Empire Was Right - The Series
    The video is done in fun to show both how propaganda can be used to spin anything and that there are some plot holes in Star Wars. Rebuttal and sequel videos are being planned, so feel free to leave a comment and I may discuss it in long form.
    This video dives into how Palpatine was a brilliant and merciful leader by playing both sides of The Clone Wars it also takes a deep dive into slavery in The Star Wars Film Saga.
    For over four decades, there has been debate on who the true villains and heroes of the Star Wars Saga are. With over 10 minutes of content and discussion, I feel that a fair argument can be made in favor of The Empire.
    I am not implying that the empire, sith, or their associates are perfectly good and I am not saying the jedi, rebels, or their associates are purely evil. But each side sits squarely on a spectrum. With the empire leaning towards the morally justified side and and the rebels and jedi leaning more towards war mongering blood thirsty side.

    Anakin was very much anti-slavery due to his childhood and hence fught to ablolish slavery throughout the Empire, the wookies were enslaved rather than inprisoned due to their valuable strength that they provided to the labour force. Hence the Empire did not enslave, instead it was more like community service.

    • @theeast7005
      @theeast7005 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      And it isn't like a bunch of rich systems that are doing this because they are power hungry or something, it's a bunch of systems that are canonically treated horribly. They get no benefits of being in the Republic besides getting taxed. It's an American revolution situation.
      Like some of the rebelling systems' neighbor was a giant slug alien cartel region that the Republic just let sit around since its inception. One that helped maintain slavery in that region and regions apart of the Republic.
      The separatist were the good guys who got played by the sith and led to their extermination and genocide of one of their members races. Partly helped by the Jedi, not even joking in the clone wars show Anakin and obi wan kill the last queen of the geonosians.

      The sounds the Wookies make are a full blown language in the Star Wars universe. Chewbacca for example makes a wookie sound and then Han Solo responds to him like as if he knows exactly what he's saying everytime. That probably means they're at least smart enough to make their own native language. Han Solo also trusts Chewie enough for him to be a co-pilot for the Millennium Falcon.

    This video reminds me of the five good Roman emperors: Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian, Antoninus Pius, and Marcus Aurelius. They brought prosperity and stability to Rome. They built great infrastructure, and the arts flourished in Ancient Rome. These emperors were tolerant of many religions. While you may scream about the lack of Democracy in the empire, I don't see any evidence that the Jedi are bringing Democracy to the galaxy. The "light" side of the force would become the galaxy's official religion. Art deemed to be from the "Dark" side would be abolished. The takeover of the galaxy by the Jedi, would lead to a galactic Dark Age.

    • @firstnamelastname8058
      @firstnamelastname8058 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The whole "light side, dark side" is also a head scratch!.. I mean the whole lot is some largely invisible power.. I never saw any healing from the light side, yet the dark side did get a mention about reviving or preventing death.. So what is the actual meaning of these two sides of what appears to all be telekinesis?
      On another note.. What's the real deal with democracy?.. it is portrayed as the best from of government.. but any free thinking individual can clearly see it is a mere mask covering a highly corruptible.. easily manipulatable "game" that people of power put in our faces under the guise of "freedom".
      We vote for A LEADER.. chosen from.. "members of the same gang".. then they dictate what they want to do while in power!, while the opposition plays "oh no you don't".. it's all a side show!
      wouldn't true Freedom be more like: the politicians creating new laws... and we vote if we want it or not?. why is this not a thing? has any culture ever tried it? No. because any person who ever desires power over others is inherently evil and will not relinquish any of that power to anybody else. our whole world is dictated by greed.
      Am I wrong?

    I do wanna say i wouldn't say the clone wars was victimless if you stray away from the movies, clones have been shown to have different personalities like with rex and others. And to add from my knowledge almost every droid in starwars is sentient and are regularly mistreated, definitely seen by the b1 droids like that one poor Commander who was just promoted getting filleted by yoda. But we're focusing on the movies so my point is not valid right now

    • @firstnamelastname8058
      @firstnamelastname8058 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah the clone theory has me a bit two sided.. I mean.. once created, they then gain their own experiences from hence froth.. even in training they would begin to differ. One out of so many would get promoted for example.. others may envy. The promoted clone may realise that others did the same as he did but were not promoted... ect

    Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed comments section, I have one final thing I want you to consider. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk. His tribe was enslaved and taken to the planet Kessel. But Chewbacca is chained up on the planet Mimban. Now think about it; that does not make sense!

    Although I'm pro-empire, I'd like to counter the bloodless war statement. Yes the Geonosians are bugs, and thr clones are living droids, it is impossible for it to be a bloodless war. It is implied that some time has passed between episode 2 & 3. As we are only basing off movies, we cannot know how much. However, let's say we lowball this down to a year. Do you think that the clone wars only had two battles? No, there would no doubt be battles across the galaxy. Several of these might've been in cities, which would most certainly get civilians killed.
    Even the battle of Coruscant is not excused from this. In the opening crawl, General Grievous attacks the planet and kidnaps Palpatine. Even if we can assume that Palpatine was in space when he was kidnapped, this preventing civilian casualties, the battle occurred over the planet. During the battle, we've seen ships engaging each other constantly, and even several destroyed. This means falling debris towards the planet. Which means that civilians probably being crushed by said debris.
    For future propaganda, I'd recommend taking into account outside factors. For the Empire!

    Speaking of galactic slavery, I realized Darth Vader agreed with Jabba that he will seize Han Solo, have Boba Fett turn him in to Jabba. Then Luke and his friends will go recue Han and destroy the biggest slave trader in the outer realm, Jabba. This is either a coincidence or a testament to Darth Vader's calculating aspect when it comes to bringing down those who have wronged him from the beginning, his slave traders and the one that is in charge of the trade, Jabba.

    It is actually funny how they tried so hard to make the Rebellion good - and a decent analysis shows at least a SERIOUS level of grey on both sides and definitely not a lot of "light" on the side of the Jedi. It is ultimately amazing how most people root for - essentially definitely not the good, and most likely, as you point out, quite the bad side.
    Btw., totally love the "wookie have small genitalia" hit ;) NICE.
