  • Homemade "Road Grader" Test - ROAD PLANE - Road PLOW
We take our Homemade Road Grader and test it out on different types of dirt. The first test is on hard packed gravel with big rocks. The second test is on a high desert private road base gravel road with rutts and winter damage.
The homemade road plow gives us unbeatable performance and durability
Watch for the upcoming HOW TO BUILD A ROAD GRADER video on this channel in the near future.

How would you make this road grader better?? Answer below, would love to see and hear other ideas.. Thanks for watching

      Great Video Pete 👍
      My 2 cents would be.
Hydraulics to raise/lower the blade, also angle the blade of the grader so you can control the flow of gravel where you want it a little better.
for instance have 1 side of the grader at road level and the other side 3/4" off road level to move/spread the gravel where you need it , you could also shave off the high spots this way.

From my other response you may be able to accomplish what I had mentioned with just different tire pressure or a cheap set of air shocks perhaps?
Air Shocks won't know the difference between 2,000 lb's of car or a ton of Gravel so I would lean that direction.
Maybe weld a 3/4" steel plate to the inside of your Tire support so it sits under the frame mount the Air Shocks (CHEAP) pull the pins and Viola you have a Adjustable Blade...
Make your plate big enough you can weld in a 45 degree support back to your upright for support..
There is ALWAYS a solution and if it's worth doing then were gonna do it Right!! 😉
BTW maybe weld in more bars in the basket so old people like us don't have to carry 60lb rocks to it lol.
I would personally set it up so you could shovel some gravel in it or use a bobcat to fill it up, so maybe 1/2" x 1/2" screen? The more weight the better the Grade I would think.
For Gods sake Paint it Pete, Damn it what will people say??? LOL

WE HAVE A 1/2 MILE ROAD ON OUR CENTRAL FL PROPERTY OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. WE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. WE USED SAND BAGS OVER THE REAR AXLE. ONE ISSUE WE COULD NEVER GET PASS WAS ONCE THE RAIN GETS UNDER THE PEET ROCK. IT CAUSES POCKETS AND HOLES. YOUR RIGHT 10 MPH SEEMS TO BE THE SPOT. ONCE WE GRADED THE ROAD WE HAVE ANOTHER TRAILER WITH PIECES OF CHAIN TO DRAG IT LEVEL. WE WOULD DRAG IT ABOUT ONCE EVERY OTHER WEEK TO KEEP THE DUST DOWN. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT OUT THERE.

Angle blade forward some and u will cover more area with less material. Also might help u with rock hop thanks for another awesome video Pete

Nice, made in America by Pete’s Moab Machine Works (PMMW)

I was wondering if the blade had coil overs on the mounting points, it wouldn’t be so hard on the machine itself? Taking some of the shock out and minimising the bounce?

Only thing I can think of would be make up a replaceable knife edge on the blade itself so you don't wear down the blade itself. Like maybe get a piece of steel 3/8 thick and about 4 inches high to run the length of your blade. Have it extend down about an inch below the blade itself. Then when you drill your holes, space them from the bottom edge so that you can remove it, flip it over and then get double use out of it.

  • @demonrathunter

works great Pete, can you angle the blade ?

    @ronaldfulton1175 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I was waiting for Minnie to come out of the house and raise hell about all the noise and moving all the rocks around in her rock garden ! Needs a strip of steel (cutting edge) along the bottom of blade as a wear edge instead of wearing down blade. Wide enough that it can be unbolted and flipped as it wears out.
