What's your favourite and least favourite letters??? #CalligraphyMasters #KeepWriting #HowTo #Copperplate #Script #Calligraphy #Calligraphie #Caligrafia
My favorite is probably the majuscule D, the majuscule B being a close second. My least favorite is the minuscule p. It's so hard keeping the extended full pressure stroke consistent!
My faves are C D L and S as they include in my name. But I found M, V and W very difficult to write better. How long is the life of a nib normally? I am a beginner. Thanks
@@schrodingerscat1863 normally there would be a natural tilt towards the left for right handers around 75 -80 deg ...very difficult to write at 90 deg 😮..what exactly is your observation if I may ask?
You write beautifully and seemingly effortlessly. I am just starting to learn calligraphy writing and hope to someday be able to create such beautiful work. You are an inspiration!
Delicado e refinado trabalho, meu amigo.
Very beautiful writing. My father who has passed on, wrote in a lovely Copperplate hand using Turquoise ink. F was my fav and U my not so nice. His initials were JVF. looked gorgeous when written on letterheads. I rarely see a well written script nowadays. computers have made it difficult for Children to use pens and ink. I would hate to see this practice go out of date. Thank you for your edit.😄
You may also want to check out the zanerian workbook. It has instructions on Engrosser's script (which this is very nearly though the forms are too tall and the ovals are off by a small amount). It'll teach you far more.
Absolutely beautiful!❤A beginner, what type pen, paper and guide and where to find? So enjoy watching such penmanship ❤Thanks for sharing! Just subscribed!
Thank you so much - the perfect way to escape the crazy world, be present and develop a wonderful skill. You have clearly done this kind of thing before ;-). Thanks to you, tomorrow my family will open the best Christmas Cards ever!! Warm regards and Happy Christmas from Sydney, Australia - Dave
This was 6 years ago...but I would appreciate if you could tell me what is the nib you were using. Very beautiful video...and you writting is so perfect!
Olá Telmo! Parabéns pelo video! Sou a Susana e adoro caligrafia, ando à procura de cursos aqui em Portugal, mas não encontro nada. Este video ajudou me muito! :) se me puder ajudar e recomendar algum sítio serei grata!
I love your vidieo. I have been trying to learn this struggling. I now realize I have been doing it all wrong. I have viewed many Vidieo s, taken courses, now I know they have been doing it all wrong. Their are some that are good, but nothing could compare to your Scribe skills of excellence. Do you know anyone you could recommend, or any books , or magazines I could subscribe to? Thanks so much For your video. By the way do you know of any place where I could purchase the Nib 101B you are using. I have been having trouble buying nibs, Seems like the postal system is so slow. Bo.
He is using a hunt 22b nib which is very unforgiving for beginners as the point is very sharp and it requires a light touch so not the break the nib. A great beginner nib is the Nikko G nib as it is inexpensive, flexible and is far more forgiving to the inexperienced hand so being heavy handed is not to worry. My advice however is not to stay on it for too long as it will give you bad habits. Go in stages e.g. Nikko G until you have a basic understanding of the letter forms of your chosen script and then progress to a Leonard principal EF nib. They are more expensive and far more delicate and easier to break but they are the perfect nib for achieving fine hairlines and large shades. Use these exclusively until you adjust. From there you will be able to use any nib out there.
Tom Kitch You can't do this with all fountain pens or dip pens. You need a pen with a flexible nib, otherwise you run the risk of the tines becoming spread or busted. A nice beginner flex pen would be a noodlers flex pen. They have many to choose from and range from $15 and above.
The hunt 22b is a flexible dip nib. You will need either a straight holder as he is using or an oblique penholder to write most scripts such as Engrosser's script, "copperplate" (which is never copperplate as it is exclusively done on copper plates), Spencerian (American penmanship), ornamental lettering etc...the best beginner nib to use is a Nikko G or Zebra G nib with any penholder as it is very forgiving and durable enough for heavier hands. To change the thinkness is all about pressure.
Nothing can be more practical than penmanship. It teaches fine motor control and increases the brains ability to process language. Nothing happens in front of a computer.
Please rename the title. This is not copperplate. Copperplate is exclusively done when engraving on a thin sheet of copper. The forms are larger and more rounded for that purpose. This is closer to English Roundhand. I can see many areas are improvement but the lettering as quite lovely.

I love the letter B! I find D and S very tricky!
Thank you for sharing & watching :)
A great video, especially as you show what can be done without a oblique holder which so many tutorials strongly insist is necessary. Cheers.
Yes!!!
Good point, normally you only see left handers using a straight holder and all right handers using oblique.

Love to listen to the sound of thr nib on the paper, your voice and watch your precise movements. Balm for a stressed out soul ❤
Beautiful! Also the music is so relaxing I was starting to fall asleep while watching.
Glad you like it!! Thank you for watching and don't fall a sleep 😂
Awesome video! Thanks for making the effort to show the entire alphabet.
I am using this as a guide to write some calligraphy messages myself. :)
Thanks, Telmo! i have watched it over and over again. You have such a beautiful alphabet!

Ximena Uribe Bautista hi
Beautiful, Amazing writing!! I am getting better at writing my letters...
Brilliant and gorgeous lines. Curious what nib are you using, as well as the ink. I goes on so smoothly, and gracefully. Thanks, Bo
2:20 That piece of advise is something I have never heard before and would take some practice to "reprogram" the way you write.
Muito obrigadão pelo video!

Well this is not really possible...
Good Work
Is the official copperplate? I was curious what nib you are using it is quite eloquent? Do you recommend any courses or books? Bo
Which nib r u used
Your calligraphy looks nice but your camera was focused on your hand instead of the paper the whole time.

What kind of pen and nib are you using? Is it suitable for beginners?

How do you change the thickness of your lines?
By applying different pressure on the pen ;)
Hmmmm sounds complicated...

That dude is good
Yeap he is!! Thanks for watching bro!
He is also misleading. It is not copperplate nor is it Engrosser's script. This is more akin to English Roundhand.
You are AMAZING... I really like this calligraphy... I would like to know what pen is that ^^
A hunt 22b nib in a standard straight holder.
Are there templates availalble to learn both alphabets?
Very nice
“Don’t forget to breathe “
Me: oh right
Hi What pen are you using?
Straight pen holder with a pointed nib ;)
I like the capital B and G....the capital S, in my estimation, is too much like the L...it could be made more interesting...?
I don´t like D seems very thin...but all are beautiful ;)
I was taught Copperplate is only written on copper. This is more correctly, I was instructed, Engrosser's Script.
oh yeah
I could not catch what nib you are using?
Suban las plantillas en formato PDF, así también podríamos aprender!!!
I want this writing
Google English Roundhand.
The "Q" looks like a 2 and the "S" looks like the "I"
Don't you think it would be easier using an Oblique pen holder
Portugal 🇵🇹
Yeap!! :)
Plzzz Right

Does every nib scratch SO much? I wanted to try calligraphy but this sound kills my ears
All piinted nibs scratches on different level, depends also on the paper, but to me that's a satisfying sound
@@CalligraphyMasters what nib may be the quietest? What paper may I use? Or simply better would be try a quiet brushpen?
I didn't satisfy with D
why not??
It's really beautiful, but not very practical in this modern world, I think
Well depends on how you live your life ;) For many people it's very very practical ;) #KeepWriting
