I saw another short film where his mother caught him and his playmate in the bedroom playing show and tell. She scolded them and the father lost it...went into a rage, threw him into the car and was racing to take him to some doctor. Daniel was screaming in the back seat and his father took his eyes off the wheel too long to a tragic ending. But the way these are structured, there is no logical order to follow.
