Honestly im just surprised these big fast food companies are branching into the twitch community. 5 years ago I would've never even acknowledged the possibility of this happening. Also Little Caesar sponsored food poisoning stream when?
McDonald's has had promo streams with twitch streamers for years. There was a fun case almost five years ago when a relatively large Twitch streamer (Jericho) got a huge ad deal with McDonald's through Twitch. He proceeded to fuck it up the worst way possible by calling coins that they gave him Whopper coins and he was playing smash using Robin in a red outfit, even saying Red Robin out loud. McDonald's and Twitch got big mad and there were even legal issues involved.
I was sick and really bored so I clicked on my boy Ryab's stream and was greeted with red and yellow banners filling 50% of the stream window. Was honestly hillarious, I just checked 5 minutes of chat spamming fake corpa comments, figured out he is currently playing another SAP-like and dipped. The next day threads of NL subreddit popped up on my home page and I do love me some drama, so all in all this was a great experience, might be nice to shock the system once in a while.

So the McDonald's in Isarel is currently donating food to the IDF. The Israeli government is currently committing a genocide of the Palestinian people so people are boycotting any corporations that supports Israel in any way.
McDonald's franchises in Israel offered free meals to the Israeli military. This decision was made right after the Oct 7 Hamas attacks. However because the internet exists, people are mad at a guy in Vancouver who likes hamburgers, and getting money for playing Fortnite with an unsightly banner up
There is a boycott on McDonald’s because they have been funding/providing meals to the IDF. I think they are one of the corporations opposing ceasefire in Gaza
From what I’ve read, there are franchises that refuse to use banks that operate in the West Bank/Gaza, and there’s at least one franchise lender that donates to the Israeli Defense Forces. The corporation said it was done without their awareness and permission. For some, the lack of consequences for the franchisee is effectively the same as the McDonald’s Corporation donating/supporting a genocide in Palestine. Others may not understand the difference between the corporation and franchise owners. If the corporation were to take action and remove the franchise rights from the locations mentioned above, there’s another group of people that would likely boycott because they would see that as McDonald’s supporting Hamas and their acts of terrorism and desire to commit genocide against the people of Israel. Honestly, it’s a loose-loose situation. It’s a messed-up, heart-breaking, complicated situation. No one should have to live in fear because of where they were born, how they look, or what they believe. People are also allowed to be upset that a corporation with disposable income isn’t using that to improve the lives of people in communities where they have a presence. People should also be allowed to get paid for providing a good or service without being judged by the perceived morality of the company paying them.

move facecam to eat burger like a vtuber -> "this is the future of entertainment" -> "now watch this drive"
goated bit
This sponsorship was one of the funniest bits I've seen in a while, it feels like a parody of itself
The fact that the game he chose for the sponsored stream was Fortnite, it feels like a ironic over the top bit but he got the bag out of it which is also great
the bag mustve been massive to make him use that absurd overlay
also i dont really care, this is his job and he needs to make money for his family. ive been watching for almost a decade and i really couldnt give 2 shits about this other than the overlay was extremely funny
i cant imagine what the marketing team was thinking with that one
I still think the craziest thing about the whole stream was this extremely pro-privacy (some might even say paranoid but I disagree) mfer holding his damn PHONE SCREEN up to the camera, LIVE. Just how much did McD have to pay for that?
yeah like what if his CPA called him at that exact moment and he leaked their phone number, surely that thought would've crossed his mind
man who wont open game settings on stream incase it doxes him holds up entire phone for everyone to see, shocked me too XD
Big brain McDonald's provided him with a dedicated phone
the phone reveal was truly bizarre
He said he keeps his phone on do not disturb very often. I’m sure it was the case here too- no texts/calls would have had the opportunity to pop up
This stream is 10x funnier because of the subreddit acting like he committed a murder
It can not be understated how much of a change it was to make the overlay black thank you Librarian. I was laughing it up watching this live but couldn't stand looking at it for more than half an hour at a time
yeah its crazy how much better it is, whoever chose to do that color + border size needs to be fired loll
What was the original?
@@buster234100 The bright ass McD red
Honestly I just laughed my ass off at the gigantic eye-piercing McDonalds ad overlay, then didn't give it a second thought. Let him shamelessly get some more money, he deserves it, why not?
that overlay is so huge it makes me want to look into the eyes of whoever designed it and whoever signed it off
Not sure what to think on that one @@TastesLikePanda
Subway sponsored stream where NL streams inside a subway, and is contractually obligated to eat several footlongs over the duration of the stream
@@funnyvideohaha5337 greatest stream of all time
not to be that guy but what point does he not deserve it because man is making my yearly salary in a month already
"a second delivery has hit the stream" in chat took me out
NL always on point with his jokes, I call that great !mcdelivery
The mcdonalds ads were absolutely hilarious to me, it just made the stream have this kind of surreal febrile vibe to it. I didn't really know about the boycotting thing either but I also never get mcdonalds so idk
The backlash was so weird to me. The dude's done advertising for a lot of companies over the years. He was a big Paradox fan when he did the EU4 and Civ stuff. Same with the streams with Jerma, Ludwig etc. Did some advertising and made sure it was entertaining. I'm okay with that, compared to weird invasive ad stuff, dark patterns or sneaky advertising.
Edit: Just remembered the Digital Storm one too. He's good at being an endearing shill.
I consider myself to be at least decently aware of activism going on about the conflict, and I, 4 months later, have just learned about the boycott right now. And after reading all the crazy comments from people who can't seem to get off their high horse, I really want to get some McDonalds out of spite
LOL the car edit at the 43:23 bit was great. Thank you Librarian for combing through this stream and also for editing the border from red to black. Much appreciated! Really makes all the difference enjoying the content with just that change.
God damn, as much as we all love the thumbnails which make us stir in our trousers as we question our sanity, we must also express our love for the artistic masterpiece thumbnails such as this one. Bravo, sir. Bravo.
i knew i had to do it the moment i thought to include the anakin obiwan clip
NL using the YT makeup guru hand method to show off the nuggets is the funniest bit I’ve seen in sometime
Everyone talking about Luna’s college fund but let’s not forget the real winner of the day, the Canada Revenue Agency and NL’s tax guy
Honestly im just surprised these big fast food companies are branching into the twitch community. 5 years ago I would've never even acknowledged the possibility of this happening.
Also Little Caesar sponsored food poisoning stream when?
why sponsor when lil caesar ran the stream for a month and is still talked about once a week?
McDonald's has had promo streams with twitch streamers for years.
There was a fun case almost five years ago when a relatively large Twitch streamer (Jericho) got a huge ad deal with McDonald's through Twitch. He proceeded to fuck it up the worst way possible by calling coins that they gave him Whopper coins and he was playing smash using Robin in a red outfit, even saying Red Robin out loud. McDonald's and Twitch got big mad and there were even legal issues involved.
Eh not too surprising 5 years ago they were sponsoring Csgo majors
@@reinron that is very interesting
I was sick and really bored so I clicked on my boy Ryab's stream and was greeted with red and yellow banners filling 50% of the stream window. Was honestly hillarious, I just checked 5 minutes of chat spamming fake corpa comments, figured out he is currently playing another SAP-like and dipped. The next day threads of NL subreddit popped up on my home page and I do love me some drama, so all in all this was a great experience, might be nice to shock the system once in a while.
Did he at least get a lifetime supply of Mcdonalds Sprite?
Even thought it was a little too strong of an add I thought the banner was hilarious, I’m really glad nl was able to get sponsored by them and I hope every now and then he continues to get sponsorships that pay him really well. He’s worked hard for 10 years and deserves to make a big now and then. And thank you McDonald’s for sponsoring him too!! Big W
Bag*** not big
the fact that a mcdonalds sponsored nl stream is real is hilarious and the fact that it perfectly aligned with some horrible controversy honestly just makes it more funny. If he would have just brushed it off with a joke I would've laughed along with it but its cool to see a genuine measured response. What a classy fella
Did he give a measured response? I missed todays stream :o
@@Momentos58 im not sure if he's mentioned it on stream, i was just talkin about the discord stuff in librarian's pinned comment

A bunch of internet people with misplaced anger vs a bunch of internet people apathetic towards real world events. Truly the worst of both worlds. Looking at NL's response, I admire how he handled the situation
Everyone saying we should be boycotting McDonalds has spent over $1000 at McDonalds in their lifetime.
@@monki2945no? Everyone should be boycotting macs anyway because the food is expensive and poor quality.
@@monki2945 i mean, yeah? the more buying power you have, the more you can take away from the company. that's how boycotts work.

The "can you have 13 nuggets" bit cracked me up because there's a great Numberphile video where they go over the math of exactly that question, it was terrible then and it's terrible now lol.
I appreciate you fixing the banner in post, that was the main reason I couldn't watch live 🙏

It really depends on what circles you’re in. I’m not that online and I knew about it because I’m friends with a ton of activists and most people I follow online were posting about this stuff every day. If your friends aren’t, then you probably didn’t see it.

Insane thumbnail, love ryuk in the thumbnail, also editing goes craaazy, give it up for the librarian 👏
#Ad the Mcdip sauces are so yummy, they almost remind me of how refreshing it was when I shot the McDonalds barrista with my S&W .357 magnum at Denver, Colorado back in 1997 for handing me a McChicken instead of the deliciously classic Big-Mac that i ordered.
I just checked. Glad you're out and got your life back on track!

i think it was more of a shock to people when the usual sponsored segment is him saying "we were sponsored to play this game its on sale now" to looking like hes streaming on the mcdonalds twitch channel. still though the people who spend too much time on the internet are blowing this way out of proportion.
Absolutely stoked he got the bag, amazing for him. The stream was just as usual too except for the overlay.
Nah he was glazin mcdonald’s the whole time; literally every bit was about mcdonald’s, chat what you get at mcdonald’s, here’s how i like my mcdonald’s, etc.

The food banter... That's like NL's bread and butter. Even the praising of McD is nothing new, dude has been vocal about liking it for a while. And no, not EVERY bit during the stream was about McD, that's hyperbole...

Are people really giving him that much shit for this? Not to be that guy, but I can’t imagine how easy your life must be if this is what’s keeping you up at night.
Look back at the backlash when he was doing the working a mcdonalds shift bit a while ago, its just a weird thorn in the reddit’s side the moment you mention mcdonalds lmao
so many people are genuinely online too much
Get off your high horse, no one is being kept up at night by this. When you post something publicly on the internet you expect engage with it including negatively. The sponsored stream was obviously different so of course people are going to mention it.
Ironically everybody that is defending the sponsored stream thinks they’re normal when in reality they are the ones being abnormal defending their parasocial relationship with a millionaire streamer who doesn’t even know they exist.
Believe it or not, people can be fans, engage with content, and express their dissatisfaction with said content. You don’t need to defend and baby him, he’ll be okay. 😁

What has mcdonald's done? Im out of social media and live in SA, I'm totally lost and fear that if I search for it I'll have to read a post on reddit by myself, wich is unacceptable.
@@AcmeMonkeyCompany mind you McDonald's in the middle east like Oman all made very public statements about supporting Palestinians, so yeah there was a intra McDonald's controversy with franchises from some countries taking side, which is not only insane but also insanely stupid

you might have advanced intuition. maybe ordering a Big Mac and McNuggets 4 Piece on the McDonalds official app would help?
