    I was just repairing my old Oreck Magnesium and found your video to be very informative and helpful, particularly how to remove those locked wheel hub/belt covers. Those things had me confounded! Thank you very much.

    Thx for posting this well informed video, it quickly got me out of crunch. After watching a few minutes of your video, I was quickly able to make an apparatus for unlocking the side covers. A dryer sheet was jammed into fan.

    Thank you so much for your video. Our vacuum would not turn on. I knew about the coin in the handle but that didn't fix it. Using your video to take my vacuum apart, I learned that the fan assembly was stuck solid. I got it spinning again and cleaned everything up. Expected it to work, but the control board was dead. Replacing that got it working again. Ordered a replacement beater bar and felt gasket. Your video saved me a bunch of time and money. Thanks again!

    Thank you for this video! I was able to fix my old oreck handle and clean it because of your video. I was gonna just take it to the closest oreck store but found out the store had closed. So I decided to see if I could do it myself. I did, thanks to your guidance. 👏Thank you!

    Great video! Really appreciate your complete instructions. I only have one suggestion. When putting screws back into a plastic housing, you should turn the screws backward untill you feel the screw fall into the existing thread. Otherwise, over time, screws that are repeatedly ran in with a screw gun, will strip out. Mainly because some will not take time to verify if in the threads. Then start a new thread into the plastic. I have not taken mine apart yet, so if there is a brash insert, this concern may not apply.

    • @PerformanceReviews
      @PerformanceReviews  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is something I do every time. You might notice me going backwards with the screw gun in my hand. This is a very important step with plastic.

    Thanks - I was interested in the bag part and wanted to see how you get that top part (end of ur video u were holding in hand separate from machine) where u have the switch button, how u got it out? Also how to change the top bracket. U focused mainly on the bottom part which was good

    Very helpful video and allowed me to fix my vac. I had to replace the swivel neck and when back together I could hear a slight fan against the housing as I vac'd and swirled. It eventually went away but it seemed the tolerances weren't quite right. Pretty sure I got it all back together correctly and the fan was tightened down after double checking to be sure.

    I really wanted to like this vac so much. I have had two lemons in a row and it’s ruined it for me. The first one had a cracked fan right out of the box (I’m thinking it was a customer return). The second one has the RF and brushroll sensor issues that this suffers from and keeps reappearing after I fix it. Without those issues though I would really enjoy this one I believe.

    Big question, why or what do you fix or replace when the bag itself stands straight up then I noticed it's leaning quite a bit before locks in, dont understand why it was sitting straight now it totally leans, thanks and great vid

    As a repair technician this vacuum pisses me off. On the board is a collection of pins that look like they connect to something. So I spent 5 hours trying to figure out what connects to that boards becuase there is no wire coming out of the switch area. Really glad I found this video. God this vacuum is stupid.

    Hi. I was wondering if you can advice me on how to repair a hand held steam cleaner: Oreck XL, Sanapathic. I live in England and from what I know the fuse has blown. If I can locate the fuse, I am hoping I can replace it. Any advice will be useful as it has only been used once and I don't want to discard it. Regards.

    What is the name of the tool (at 2:57 for removing the side cover) that Oreck stopped making that is hard to find? that middle neck assembly piece assembly cracked on us, and we have 3 of these so would really like to get the tool to replace the neck, as I see this is a common problem for this model. Is there a substitute tool?

    Hi wondering if you could provide me some guidance. I have the same model and after many years of use with no issues the vacuum won’t start. In the past I change the battery but now that’s is not doing the trick. I ordered a new board (it was a slide different thinking it was a new model) but still didn’t work. Thank you

    Question for you.
    I picked up a used (non swivel version) Magnesium, took it all apart and cleaned it (was decently dirty). After using it, it's carpet grooming is very poor. In other videos I see of this, the carpet grooming seems really good.
    -I have ordered a new brush roll, which will take some time to arrive. But the brush roll in it does seem fine though.
    -It is missing the felt gasket between the white air inlet tube and the motor fan, I'm not sure that plays that large of a role, but that's coming in the mail as well.
    -when I had it apart, the fan didn't seem to be in all that great if shape, but I figured it'd be fine. I forgot to check if it's cracked though, so I don't know if that could be an issue.
    Any idea what it could be?

      @@stevencourtney1965 Replace the CR2032 battery in the handle. If that does not work then click the power button a few times then hold it down. This should pair the handle with this circuit board. Your sensor will flash when pairing is complete. Do this with the machine plugged in obviously. If the above doesn't work you are looking at a faulty PCB or handle. More commonly the PCB. Both of these items are no longer in production.

    Personally I prefer canister vacuums, because they are lightweight and cleaning is really easy with them. Also we have Vorwerk in Europe... it is extremely expensive and a little heavy.... I have to say that cleans very well, but for example when you need to clean somewhere thought-to-reach, you will need to bring the bag of accessories connect the hoses and..... it is really difficult 😂

    Weird question: what's the diameter of the average Oreck filltube (eg, on an XL?) I've got stupid ideas LOL

    • @PerformanceReviews
      @PerformanceReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A regular classic oreck has a 1 1/4" fill tube. However it's too restrictive to use as a tandem air nozzle with any sort of effectiveness.

    Was suckered into buying one of these back in 2012. With the cost at $500.+ I was told it would last many many years even after the 7 year warranty and service agreement. It just stopped working last weekend and my local repair shop said it was the circuit board, which can't be found anywhere. Sad to say but I have trust issues with repair shops, since another local one tried to sell me a complete bag assembly and another used vacuum when it only needed a replacement part, which I was able to find on line for less than $10.00. Do you know if this is truly the case with the circuit boards? Are you able to get this part or offer any advice? I appreciate your help! Thank you!

      well they might be on back order from their wholesale manufacturer like everything else right now with every manufacturer. But the fact they couldn't just search on eBay for one it's kind of disappointing

      I would try changing the watch battery first if you haven't. Go to your local Oreck store they'll have the part you need.
