BNSF Hobart Yard train action in Fall 2018. Hobart is in the industrial city of Vernon, CA just a few miles from downtown Los Angeles. I filmed various Amtrak passenger trains along with BNSF freight movements to and from the ports of Long Beach.
Got some pretty decent horns too…

I'm guessing the train with cabcar 6906 and locomotive 462 was filmed during the week ending on October 27, 2018. By the time of that footage, 462's days on the surfline were numbered.

Loved the video. Hobart has certainly come a long way! In the early 80's It was the main yard. for intermodel and manifest. Hobart Tower was nice then as well with all the UP harbor traffic crossing there. East end is where they did the flat switching for manifests with CF7's. No Alameda corridor, no La Mirada yard, no Commerce Diesel (Fueled locos at east end near Washington Blvd next to the caboose tracks) and the 2nd Sub (Pasadena) was still open with a few Piggyback trains and Amtrak. 1st Street Yard by the river was being used to store baretable for Hobart.
