Excellent work! I remember seeing this on VHS over 20 years ago, and recently viewed another version on a streaming service, and yours is by far the best version I’ve had the pleasure to view. The score, updated cards, narration, and remastering with applied tints (along with the companion retrospective upload) truly helps to breathe new life into this cinema classic! I know it will get a number of repeat viewings from me.
All right, time for some constructive criticism. The title cards stick out from the rest of the movie, being high-fidelity and in color. Using a filter to make it look older would make the transition less jarring. Same with the sound effects and narration. Making it sound like it was recorded a long time ago (I think) would improve the aesthetic. The music is good, especially the title theme. It reminds me of Sephiroth's theme. It would be cool to used the four notes "Nos-fe-ra-tu" in more of the music as a motif. There are parts where the music doesn't completely match up, and I think it could have benefitted from a couple of less bombastic tracks, maybe in a minor key to make it more eerie. It is a horror film, after all. I'm guessing the music was made with AI, which is fine by me, you gotta do what you gotta do, but some of the tracks keep going and going after they should end, and it was distracting. Good effort, and I wholly approve of the endeavor. Keep it up!
This was such a treat for Halloween. I know practically nothing about the silent movie era, but this really caught my interest. Bravo for restoring a genuine antique and sharing it with all of us.
This is so delightful. I very much enjoyed it. It's made with so much love and dedication. As a German native speaker I say:"Thank you midnight's edge!" And: I'm very, very much looking forward what you will do on this channel and the coming Midnight's Edge movie editions ...
The Midnight's Edge delivered an excellent edition. This as a version of the film I'd rate highly. The soundtrack was entertaining but not so over complicated to overshadow the film. Further Andre's narration here reminded me of the "horror hosting" genre, a good fit indeed.
This was really fun to watch! Thank you for doing what you can to keep historical classics like this relevant and in the zeitgeist of modern entertainment. With each passing decade films such as Nosferatu fall deeper into obscurity with younger generations, oblivious to film history, glued to their phones all day. This isnt just a fantastic take on the Dracula story but some of the earliest history of professional film making out there. To see it restored with new music, sfx and additional narration, you guys breath new life and hopefully help more people appreciate and learn of such an amazing classic. Bonus points for releasing a film on theme for the month of Halloween!
A great thank you for this. A true classic. The image quality was top-notch, the tinting was brilliantly done, and Tom Connors new soundtrack was great. It was a great touch to include the occasional "correctional focus pull" during the dialogue and narration cards and matching the vignetting of the original as appropriate. It was said that this was originally made on a budget of the tighter kind. It only goes to show that how much you spend is not what counts when it comes to longevity of your films. I will leave this comment only giving you praise, as the few suggestions I would have given to the modern editors are so minor that they can wait for a different time.
First time I ever see the movie. A wonderful adaptation. The music is ominous and sets the mood. Andre with the narration is recognizable, a little bit exaggerated, but still well done. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
You guys did such a great job, the addition of the small amount of sound does really help us "modern audience" as watching a silent movie is a very differnt expeteriece otherwise. I tried watch Metroplis once and struggled because you had to keep watching all the time. You can't look away or anything. I can't wait to see what you do next, but can I ask that perhaps you could read a shipping forcast? Yes I know it's not horror but to hear it in your voice would make it super freaky. I'm pretty sure you can hear versons of it on here, Carlos Brathwaite did a great turn once. Anyway enough of these mad ramblings, thank you for taking the time to making this version - as others have said I hope more and more people watch this :)
This was a great Halloween treat! I've seen Nosferatu (the original & the remake so many times) figured watching this one more time for ME wouldn't hurt! Really enjoyed it. Well done guys!
This was mostly great. Andre's narration was excellent. The corrected tinting of the scenes was well done, and the music helped set the atmosphere for the most part. I thought some of the music was too loud and dramatic when the scenes would have benefited from something more subtle. My biggest issue was the cards looked too modern, it was distracting and took me out of the film. Despite my minor issues, I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys will do next on this channel.
This Movie and it's Public Domain and Interest Revival has basically been a Generation of The Same Movie but with different soundtracks, The Big Remake that's coming out soon, and being the One Man Cultural Father of the Nosferati Clan of Vampire: The Masquerade fame. To the point of each aspect of that Vampire Race having a Callback or a throwback to Count Orlocks' Legacy from his First Movie as one of the forerunners of Horror as a Genre in Film. Needless to say the 'harrowing Cry of the Deathbird' will never truly be forgotten no matter how many Suns rise.
Really enjoyed the heck out of it this version of NOSFERATU! Not a 100% perfect version, but really feel you all brought some love to it and it was a nice watch for the Halloween season. Actually watched it a few weeks back, but finally had time to comment! Keep it going strong!
Definitely enjoyed this as I've tried to watch the original a few times and the choice of music which is the main sound can't hold me. This one absolutely did awesome job and wouldn't mind seeing Lon Canny's Phantom of the Opera, Hunchback of Notredum, or the original Jekyll and Hide from the same era like this.
Max Schreck as Count Orlok is one of the most genuinely creepy monsters in the history of cinema. There's something horrifically absurd and surreal about him, as if his resemblance to anything human is merely a superficial coincidence. It's true nightmare fuel. I love it.
What a treat. Good job M.E. i ve loved this film for years and im impressed with what youve done to it. Especially The soundtrack and the sound effects. I like the writing cards too. But most of all i love Andre's narration, perfect and creepy. ❤❤
Hope you do a lot more of these on a regular basis…. Really interesting….. since I really have no interest in current day flicks…. This is a great video to watch….
So any chance of a physical media release of this? Maybe with the retrospective as a DVD extra? Something for the Midnight's Edge merch store? Just a thought; I'd be interested for sure.
49:14 Found an error here that you might wanna fix. You pronounce solitude as "sol-ti-tude" (with the extra T), as opposed to "sol-i-tude." Other than that one little gaffe, great job on this!
@@MidnightsEdgeAfterDark No pressure, because I know your workloads. I am glad with what I have. If you re-edit Metropolis, I see it as a wonderful bonus. Many thanks for making this.
While it looks and sounds amazing, the new font really doesn't work for me. It is too modern. The old script was perfectly legible.
Agreed. They may as well have cut to a Powerpoint slide
it was iconic! don't fix a good thing.
My favorite silent movie ever. This is a true classic and the vampire is genuinely terrifying.

Haven't seen this in years. Thank u. Movie is over 100 years old. We should never forget the classics.
Beautiful, clear print, the best I've ever seen of this masterpiece. Also includes some footage that other editions don't.
Well done! This is the first time I have seen this master piece and was not disappointed. This is an excellent movie. Thank you, Andre & Tom.
You're very welcome!

What an absolute treat! Beautifully restored. A feast for the eyes. Thank you for this Halloween gift!
Glad you enjoyed it!

If you don't like the sound, you can mute it. But the colorization is commendable. Great stuff❤
How could anyone not like it. It adds to the fun.
First time I ever see the movie. A wonderful adaptation. The music is ominous and sets the mood. Andre with the narration is recognizable, a little bit exaggerated, but still well done. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
This is my favorite version of this now. The music feels authentic and the sound effects were used judiciously.
This is quite excellent. Looking forward to more!!
Leni Riefenstahl.... Triumph of the Will or Olympia; or Hitchcock. This could be a fascinating film project.
Excellent work Tom and Andre! I loved the music and narration!
Crap job , this film is supposed to be scaring us shitless , music is to jolly and upbeat

What a treat! Thank you for putting this together.
This is so cool. Need to find a day with some spare time to watch it in one sitting
Griping and Stoic. Lots of character. Beautiful Melodie’s for every scene.
10\10 loved it.
Better then anything on Netflix today.😅
breaking bad is better
@ is that still on Netflix? I would have imagined that it would have been removed and placed on another streaming platform by now. 🤗
Almost perfect. So good. But, Andre, reading the cards is a classic example of doing too much.
Thoroughly enjoyed this, thank you! Might have a mispronunciation at 49:17 'soltitude'...
Excellent job! Great way to pay homage to my favorite movie of all time.
Really nice work Tom and Andre. I hope this version spreads far and wide and this classic finds the audience it richly deserves.
Finally found the time to see it.
Loved it, now I can go see the new movie when it gets to my local cinema this weekend.
Just finished watching this with my husband as part of our October horror film fest! Fantastic rendition!
I did not expect this level of quality! Kudos!

Well done, my friends! This is great.
This is great. Thank you for this! I regret that i have but one like to give.😢
The correct tinting and the original score you've created definitely added to this. An excellent reconstruction!
It's a pretty crisp cut for sure.
I didn't like the type... I couldn't watch it after that type. Why'd he change the type into that?
@MicahMicahel I completely disagree with you. The type is incredible.
Really great musics and the quality of the image was very pleasant. Probably the best version of this movie so far!
Great job what this Nosferatu Looks good on 4K and great story telling narration from Andrea.
really enjoyed this, and the music. Thanks for all the work put into it.
It’s good to see you guys hard at work on content like this!
Very well done Andre & Tom. I enjoyed it.
We need more of this!

Oh this is great... Right in time for Halloween !!!! And your voice is really cool for the naration. Also, thank you as well Tom.😊
Can't wait to watch this in full on Halloween night!
Great work on this - thank you!
Great job guys, I loved it. First time watching it.
One of my all time favorites, well done, guys!
Excellent work will obviously forgive day for night Fantastic !!!!
This is an incredibly cool way to experience one of the most important films
Thank you so very much.
Upon second viewing it gets even better! And the soundtrack is epic!
Excellent job, Midnight's Edge! Thank you!
I really enjoyed this! Thanks for all the work you guys put into it!
Good job Midnight’s Edge. So nice to see a movie again that makes me remember WHY I fell in love with movies as a kid! 🥰
Excited to see this!

Goodness... you did a lot of work on this!! I'm really impressed! 😀So very well done.
Thank you so much!
Okay I've watched the whole thing and my only gripe is sometimes the music is too loud for certain scenes. Clashes with the mood.
Really enjoyed the heck out of it this version of NOSFERATU! Not a 100% perfect version, but really feel you all brought some love to it and it was a nice watch for the Halloween season. Actually watched it a few weeks back, but finally had time to comment! Keep it going strong!
Amazing guys!!!
Thoroughly enjoyed this version! Obviously a passion project for all involved, and the results are wonderful.
Magnificent!
NOW I get the character from MeTV "Nostalgiaferatoo" makeup.
Thank you, Midnight's Edge!
And the vampire from the original 70s miniseries of Salem's Lot, the one with David "Starsky" Soul.
Danke, tusen takk!
Well Done guys!
Previously I preferred the Kino version but going forward THIS will be my go to version!
Well done! That was so entertainng. Loved what you guiys did with the score! Andre's narration was wonderful.
Thank you Midnight's Edge!
So very well done, sir, thpugh I must admit that some of the text reminded me of Simon's Quest 😂
"What a horrible night to have a curse!"
the shadow of him going up the stairs--the most iconic image in all of horror?
I love it! Congratulations on completing such an important and successful project!

Wow! I believe the original creatives would approve! ❤

But I agree with some of the others about the text cards.
The music in this is fantastic!!
My favortite part of this adaptation was the period appropriate electric guitar. In all seriousness, Andre narating was the best part.
Just fantastic. Bravo.
You've got me interested in the original movie. Nice work, gentlemen!
Hope you enjoy it!
Well Done Tom & Midnight's Edge.
Oh me Gurd... This is amazing!
Oh. I felt so bad for Orlock. What an amazing performance. So thats Max Schrek.
