For me the 1187 is my first and so far my only shotgun. I have to say, yes initially the loading port does take a little getting used to. But once you use the firearm a little bit, it does get easier and you will get faster with it. I do like the fact that it's all together in one area therefore without any waster motion, you can load the first round and load the magazine fast without having to transition to a side button.
Great gun, the only issue you may have is ejection on the smaller rounds like #9 but you replace the O ring and 0 issues

I like how after he shoots it. He's like I can deal with the rest of the stuff. I love my Remingtons. They are great shooting guns.

I've got the 11-87 chambered up to 3 inch shells, been flawless I have a fibre optic green sight tube on mine and regarding loading I put on the safety, flip it over and hold the switch down with my left thumb and load with my right hand, much quicker.

nice review....a lot of the videos on my channel I am using the 1187. there's a part of my Iowa trip I was shooting a beretta A400 extreme and one other I was using a stoeger over under. I agree the loading took a bit to get used to but this gun is really growing on me. And I am on the same boat as you dude....I ended up putting a larger charging handle on mine cause I didn't like the smaller one. I'm loving how it works in the blind and some of my best trap scores has come with this gun.

That's why you have to know your long gun before you take it to the Field to hunt with it guy because I've hunted with Rem. Shotguns all four with the Auto loaders 1100 & 1187 both plus both Pumps 870 Express & 870 Wing Master but put the box good guns ,& fit most Folks! Yes I don't know why they never went with a Larger Rejector knob on the action .

I've got a 11-87 Remington 12gauge 3inch and I find this problem should be solved,,,This is my first semi auto shotgun 😢At first I found the receiver coming open...When shooting it very noisy 😳,,I've always had pump shotguns before 😢,,and that button is a pain too.

Yeah that’s no fun. It’s not the most highest quality of shotgun in the world that’s for sure.

@@ToughCountry I love it, took me a minute to figure out how to put it in. once in its super easy to change out springs and then they send an allen wrench to further make adjustments. going from the factory to about a 3.5 pound pull was awesome.

I can’t even remember the day I use a safety switch on a shotgun. It’s there but never use it. About the loading port- 1187 is not meant for competition shooting. Use mine for hunting, with a quick change of barrel I use for home protection. I like the way the loading port was done, it’s user safe. Unless you own one and read the manual, there’s no way anyone can reload that shotgun.

It’s definitely a great hunting shotgun! We always use safety up here in Canada.

Not a good gun for light loads

True but thats due to the gas chamber. I found that for sporting clays if I didn't clean it often and let it gum up the chamber a bit, it would cycle them no problem. I think having the extra carbon buildup meant there was less room for the air and thus more force on the action.

Clean it and try running double orings
