Regarding the “Fundy glass”: this is the same type of large weathered shard that I find at my local beachcombing spot in Boston Harbor at the mouth of a tidal river. It’s a sheltered low energy beach with mud flats. The glass is quite old but stays in large shard form with light frost and is no longer sharp.

Well I need to come visit you when the pandemic lifts! Have wanted to explore the Isle of Man so maybe we can meet up and go Beachcombing together! Are most of your beaches rocky or...?
Dr.Beachcomb ooh yes that would be lovely! Our beaches are a mixture of both, Laxey where I live , has a Harbour, with a river running into it, lots of pebbles rocks and sand too. I could do with you there to tell me what everything is! I am now obsessed with glass fishing weights like in your bowl. So now I need to visit Japan or Hawaii! Stay safe and hopefully won’t be too long until we can travel. Isle of Man has had it’s borders closed since March, they say this will be the last measure to be relaxed, it seems to be working though, with very few cases. X

Have just found your channel and wow, so happy. Your collections are amazing and ever so interesting. Thank you for sharing. I too, am a avid fossicker but over here in New Zealand we have very limited supplies for we are a young country, with really not much history.
I have yet to visit your country - have been trying to get there for the last 40+ years! Yes, for great fossils, head to North America or England's southern and northeastern coasts. But rumor has it that NZ has great shelling beaches around the Bay of Islands...

@@dr.beachcomb4221 yes south of london, have watched 2 or 3 of your videos and has made me want to go to different beaches but i dont drive so can only go to my local beach
@@joshuaalden-gibbs6949 well if your home beaches bring joy and are productive, yay! I spent years only walking my hone beach and really got to know it well. I came to live what it offered up and would also def find some interesting treasure on many occasions.
Sometimes I make little beach sushi trays with glass and fossils and stones that I glue onto a plate. They’re pretty cute but I don’t generally collect to make things to sell.

use someting like a welders rod to heat and make glass beads from the broken glass

is it safe to step on barefoot? does it depend on type?
if the sea glass is thick and worn, it usually won’t break if stepped on
so, how do we know it was white in the beginning?
Are you talking about some purples? If so, just leave it in the sun for three or four months and see if it darkens even more.
