    I just did one. (I’ve done several) it’s a good time to freshen the paint on the yoke.

      No problem at all Stephane! I'd love to see some pics of your bike. It's been a while since I've done a subscriber rides video. I don't discriminate against the makeup motorcycle either so send over some pics of your Kawi! My email address is in the about section on my channel page.
      come to think of it... I've got a lot of subscriber rides that have been submitted over the last six months... Maybe that's my next video 🤔😀

    Awesome Video! I noticed when you took the old bottom bearing race of the steering stem there was a thin washer on the very bottom and when you put it back together with the new All Balls kit you started directly with the dust seal and left off that washer. Is this the way the new kit is supposed to work? I am doing this kit also and mine also has that thin washer on the very bottom (which I destroyed) so I hope I do not have to reuse it. Thanks for your time.

    • @Mike_Barker
      @Mike_Barker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it wasn't a spacer. It's a washer that works with the dust seal. The new all balls kit does away with the 2 part dust cap.
      However! Later in the video you will see that I had to use a spacer to get everything to work together properly.

    • @11GalleryATV
      @11GalleryATV 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mike_Barker Thanks for the clarification. I installed mine with a spacer on the bottom too and I thought that was the case with the dust seal and thin bottom OEM washer. I installed the kit on a 1986 Honda ATC 200x ...

    I have a '73 which already has the tapered bearings but I notice that the bearing race sits a couple of mm above the neck, so the retainer won't screw down as far. This means the fork ears won't cinch down unless there's a spacer added to take up the space. Did you encounter this issue? There is what looks like a spacer that makes a ledge the race sits on. It sure seems like if that came out it would fit correctly as it the same height as the additional height the tapered race bearing adds. I don't know if that's removable - it's really in there.

    Mike, out of curiousity and your experience swapping neck cups, is the ID of the neck wide enough to swap in 1” cups for a 1” stem? Thanks.

    • @Mike_Barker
      @Mike_Barker  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not entirely sure that I catch your meaning. If it's regarding steering stem swaps ( like installing an R1 front end on a CB750) ... I don't know. I've never done a front end conversion.

    Ron had sloppy steering. Now he has amazing steering. Anyone else experienced the wild difference that new bearings can make?

    • @hichi131
      @hichi131 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just did the same Allballs kit last week. Took me back and forth to figure out which spacer to use but the difference is night and day! Good thing you mentioned the D-washer in top triple. Top requires very little torque with the washers. Tightening to manual torque spec without the washers usually results in a crack in the triple. Bottom is made of steel and no need for washer.

      The all balls kits have taken a big jump since COVID. I'd be tempted to try out an off brand bearing, but you do often get what you pay for...
