On one of my visits to London in 2002, by sheer luck, I was allowed into the visitors gallery to see the House of Commons debate the government’s legislative program. I saw the Prime Minister and other main party leaders speak and take questions. It was pretty surreal to be there. especially as an American. It felt a bit like scoring a ticket to the State of the Union.
She is the best informed politician I have ever known! And she has and is willing and able to present her sound reasoning for everything she does. Incredible!

Sewage leaking into water streams up and down the country, the tax payer getting footed for the bill by the private companies so they can still deliver profits to their shareholders. As Churchill was one of the worst Prime Ministers in our history this is not saying a lot. Churchill was a good war time leader but an awful P.M. He lost the election after the war by a landslide to Labour led by one of our greatest P.M.`s Clement Atlee. The Atlee Government rebuilt our country after the war.
Thatcher was far greater than Churchill, Churchill was only saw us through WW2, and for that is rightly remembered as a hero. Outside of war time he wasn't nearly as useful. Thatcher lead us through the Falklands triumphantly, took Britain through the Cold War period, dealt with the unions, won a massive majority and grabbed the EU by the scruff of its neck.

I think neither Maggie nor Neil understand how to read a balance sheet. Selling off an asset would not be included as profit but rather as an exceptional item. It is not an operating profit. If Neil or the audit commission think that it was sold off cheaply why did they not suggest a company which was prepared to pay the higher amount - as Maggie alludes to.
British Leyland wasn't an 'asset' it spent the majority of its life completely insolvent and had to be bailed out by the taxpayer every year. It's a pure miracle British Aerospace paid £150m for it at all. BAe's decision to buy it would lead Bae to record losses by 1991 and the ousting of its chairman in a boardroom coup. Bae would sell British Leyland to BMW in 1994 and even BMW couldn't make a go of it and then their chairman was also sacked partially for the decision to buy it. Leyland was thorough jinxed and the consolidation and nationalisation of the car industry in the 1960s was the worst decision ever.

+Ryan Dong As soon as the war ended the utilities and companies that had been nationalised as part of the war effort should have been privatised, perhaps with some low interest loans given to the new owners as a sweetener. Government is there to manage tax collection and co-ordinate essential things like health and education. Owning a railway, dozens and dozens of car companies, a phone company and a whole host of businesses is not the governments job.

I heard it too! Unbelievable! If that was said today then everyone would be outraged. I've lived in S. Korea for 3 years and it's not common here to eat dog anymore. But I've seen the dog markets where they keep them alive in small cages before they kill them. Was a strange sight indeed.
MrKunt not sure when you saw that but these days it is difficult to see dogs for food in Korea. The general South Korean population have a huge distaste for this practice and are doing everything to prevent this from happening in Korea.

2:30 thank Christ we have no nationalised cars anymore. Rover went bust due to a management that cared little for reliability, which was a legacy of them being state-owned. Free market competition has rover replaced with better cars, many of them Brtitish-made like Jaguar-Land Rover and Nissan.

David Elliott Well, the future is uncertain. The paradox is, that uncertainty is also where hope lies. I want to believe Hilary is beatable. The other more cynical and calculating half of me thinks we should throw all our resources at elections other than the presidential one. We'll just have to wait and see.
