      @A Guy The video stated you can flag grief in the purple state indefinitely. Players will take this inch and stretch it into a mile like they did in previous games with the same flagging system. I'm sorry, I don't see anything that needs to be corrected. Most players will quit after falling victim to this inch. And yeah I'm talking about PVP players. We know because we've watched them quit before. Are there harsher punishments for going red now? Yeah. Is the corruption system more aggressive than the karma system? yeah. Is the flagging system different from L2? no

      I’ve been sticking with Skyrim lately and I must say I’ve really been enjoying the newer content since I was gifted it around my birthday this year. I still play ESO but - if I’m being honest, I get tired of the same repetitiveness I’ve dealt with for a while..... even if I DO have some dear friends on there.

    They should really make a new one handed tree that includes spell casting like they show with the aldmeri champion in the trailers, since im sure they wont make another class, that wouldnt only revitalize the interest of many players but if implemented well could help balance the already existing classes

      Magic in ESO is handled more like Oblivion than Skyrim. So there are lots of spells that are shot out of the hand. But there isn’t a 1-hand weapon with 1-hand magic set up

    What ultimately ended my time with ESO was the constant "rebalancing" of class skills and armor sets. It was frustrating grinding out an BiS armor set, only to have the devs "rebalance" those armor sets to the point where they're no longer competitive. You'd grind out the new BiS armor slot, only to have that set nerfed when a new set came out.
    While I'm no stranger to rebalances, the frequency and severity of those rebalances were far more than any other mmo and distracting to a serious fault.

      Hated this too. Went to GW2 and haven't looked back as the gear you earn will basically always be relevent. My buddy who returned to the game after 8 years to play with me still has BIS stuff for his warrior. Must be a fantastic feeling for him

    • @ates423

      Yup it was super frustrating. It was bad for me because I had 12 characters that were all pvp focused. Literally after 2 years of gaming I had maxed inventories and chests of useless golded out armor.
      Seriously matching up 12 characters to each update is a pain in the ass.

    I was wondering if the relatively small amount of changes in Update 36 would lead into a good, big thing leading into 2023 to help boost player numbers (such as a new class, new weapon skill line, etc. something many have been asking for). I hope so, I really enjoy the game!

    The card game (at least the way they discussed it before the expansion came out/gave overviews on community updates), seemed like a passion project for some of the people on the team. The folks who worked on it and were showing it off seemed really really into showing off the game and getting it out there for others to try. Now since it's not the usual content folks are used to in a game like this, I can see how that seems to be a let down.... but still really cool to see something like this afforded to be developed out by the team, and that they were super excited to have been able to do so:)
    I like playing card/board games, so a deck building game like this was right up my alley. It is fun to play, but like any board game, it is choosing to do that vs quests in high isle/dungeoning/etc so I think it just comes down to doing what you like to do most!

    What annoys me the most is the lack of challange in overland- story content. Its so laughably easy you can do it with no equipment, weapon or abilities equipped. You can literally be naked and punch groups of mobs and story bosses to death while barely taking any damage in return.

      I like the easy going during the story, dont want to waste my time with fights. So the best way to combine our different positions is a two or more mode button: story mode and fighting mode or hard mode with instancing like in ff14.

      Well,if it doesnt challenge you why not find a game that does. I have played since beta and sometimes it can get a bit tiring and I'll try to find another game to play for a bit. Problem is that there just isnt one that does it for me like ESO does.

      @@xScooterAZx that's such a dumb thing to say. Imagine if I told you if you wanted to play a game that is scaled for retards and 8 year olds leave ESO and let the devs increase the difficulty. That's what gets me too. I think it's a side effect of the One Tamriel update that made everything sync to your level. It basically killed any and all extrinsic rewards for completing content. There's just story, and since most stories can be played in any order, none of it feels very impactful or meaningful.
      Don't get me wrong about syncing. I like when MMOs offer syncing down, but not syncing up unless it's for PvP. FFXIV is great for making high level players sync down for dungeons and trials so that low level players don't feel like they have nothing to contribute (*cough* WoW *cough*)

      This. I paid to buy the game and the expansions. Why do I also need to subscribe to not have the game arbitrarily made more annoying? While I'd probably hop in from time to time to play an hour or two, it isn't worth me subscribing to make the gameplay less painful as I know I won't play it that much.
      So instead, I play it not at all.

    • @AndrewHarrop
      @AndrewHarrop 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Agreed. They basically force subscription with that gimmick, which is fine, except that buying the game already cost a good bit, and the coolest stuff costs extra yet again. They have monetized me out of the game... Which is a shame, I did really like the game.

    • @michaelleza3291
      @michaelleza3291 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, this is the problem when game devs lose confidence in being able to deliver a fun experience and fall back on manipulation to keep people coming. If they would just trust people to have fun with the content they provide and focus on that (final fantasy style) they'd do better.

    • @etrex5272

      I find ESO more interesting without ESO+ atm. It gives purpose to farm gold to buy DLCs for crowns. And I actually enjoy some inventory management and that what I pick up feel more meaningful. Look into an addon called Junkbuster that will help out immensely. With the transmute system they also removed to need to keep a bunch of gear and stuff in bank. You can now fill the bank with materials instead :) ESO is better free to play now than ever before.

    I fell in love with ES when I started playing Morrowind and Skyrim really is a game I still actively play but ESO's obsession with loot crates and making you buy things is what kept me away from wanting to explore the whole world they created. Hearing that it's slowly being forgotten in this video makes me sad on top of ES6 being years and years down the road probably. I want more Tamriel in my diet but I don't see any good options right now.

      So loot boxes that only give cosmetic items stops you from enjoying a game? You have no self control with your wallet? There is no pay to win. It’s literally just cosmetic gear. I play and have only opened the store to purchase ESO+. I don’t support loot crates. If I ever felt I just can’t live without a mount (I’ll never feel that) then I would buy the mount outright from the store.

  • @Ink_deep
    @Ink_deep 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    From talking to other people who have played ESO, it has 3 major problems. These are problems that your average player has, not rabid MMO enthusiasts looking for the next Dark Age of Camelot.
    1. The appeal for solo players is the story/quest content but the story content is very repetitive with obvious peaks and valleys. When the story is mediocre there's not much to keep casual players interested.
    2. The "One Tamriel" update years ago was good for player freedom but also introduced a problem for new players with its lack of forced direction. I know, everyone raves about nonlinear game progression on paper but in practice it makes it difficult for newbies to find their way in an unfamiliar world. Where should I go first? What order should I do the story in? How do I know when I've accomplished "the thing"? FFXIV has demonstrated that players overwhelmingly want the story to take them on a ride and limit the number of decisions they have to make about where to go next.
    3. I'm not sure how the combat system is right now, but the last time I played most class builds felt very stymying for inexperienced players who are not capable of coming up with their own setups. Want to use magic? Must have a destruction staff. Want to play a stamina build? Have to take all the stamina morphs and put the same weapon skills on your bar as every other stamina user. Have to use a bow even if you don't want to. Don't have a choice between dual wield and 2-handers if you are only interested in one type of content. Again, some or most of this may have changed but the perception that the builds in this game are limiting is still there when I talk to people.
    So there. This is my controversial and unnecessary comment for the day. These are the issues that casual MMO floaters tend to have with ESO.

    If ZOS is making an MMO, then I bet it will follow the same monetisation path - pay up, or "If you don't want to, don't play". Another assumption: due to understandable interest, people will want to see what it is, and thus the charts will spike. But what if they experience what we have in ESO money-wise?
    Oh, and won't ZOS_Hadeostry, ZOS_Icy or ZOS_Psiion pop in to say you're violating Terms of Silence? That your criticism is not polite (even when it is)?

    Started playing on console at launch, but since 2017 the cash store has been the priority. DLCs released broken, story lines have been crap, no communication from devs on anything. When they fix one problem they cause 2 more, I enjoyed it while it lasted but I barely drag myself in to fix a guild hall I built for my friends that still play, which has dwindled down considerably. Honestly change fatigue has really gotten to me, I finally get a toon set up, 10 toons, and every 3 months i have to redo all my gear, learn a new rotation and change a class. They can't find a balance between PVP and PVE, and so we have to suffer. They never listen to us on what needs changed and what doesn't. Like I said I don't regret my time playing, made some good friends but it's to the point where its more frustrating than enjoyable.

    I wouldn’t worry about whatever new game they’re working on for now. ESO has years worth of content already. The new game will take some more years after release to get fleshed out enough to even match ESO. The main thing is that ZOS shouldn’t neglect ESO. They also should avoid over monetizing it as nothing makes players quit faster than seeing all the cool stuff hidden behind those damn gambling loot boxes.

Turn it into a zone that is more like the other zones in the game. If the game needs a pvp zone make it be Atmora the continent north of Tamriel. The thing that made me rage quit for years though was the refusing to talk about how broken PvP was, blaming players for "not playing it right" & the banning players for talking about it while at the exact same time ranting on their live streams about how they were all about the community and listened to their fans and were offended that anyone would insinuate otherwise. Really didn’t click with the game though till Morrowind where the game I felt had a major shift. After that the Dlcs/expansions felt good and meaningful. Like Summerset is still my favorite zone, while Elsweyr and Western Skyrim are up there as well. Also happy to see two new classes and lots of new stuff. But man. I’ve been taking more breaks in 2021-2022 with ESO than I have the previous 6 years (not length wise but number of). Just neither of the dlcs or chapters have really done it for me. I like the new companions a lot better than the other two, but still a bit much. And tales seems like a great addition….if there was literally anything else. And the PvP. Wow. I can have fun with PvP but it’s just been such a drought of content and meaningful changes. Hope 2023 is better, otherwise may have to look into FFXIV or Guild Wars 2 a bit more (or whatever Riot is working on).

    As for Pve which i play which i play mainly for 6 years now, things aren't much better. Sure, we do get new stuff pretty often BUT is it worth it? Nah, not at all... it's either a fairly empty zone or dungeon, that you complete several times and you're bored of it.
    Whole overland is a joke, even new players without a single clue what is going on can easily defeat enemies there and what more, this also affects the veteran stuff like dungeons and trials. As players have no reason to get better and better from start, they even thing that they are super strong just because the overland/quest stuff is an easy joke.So then you end up with players who have 10k dps at best in vet content...

    Was head over heels excited for this in 2014 as a 14 year old, played the beta as well as the full game itself up to the Dark Brotherhood expansion then stopped. It was everything I had dreamed of as a young gamer. That was 8 years ago. I'm now 21 about to turn 22, with my girlfriend pregnant with our child. Just recently started playing again and my lord the nostalgia is off the charts. I remember the excitement I felt when it first launched, and the amount of fun that I had with my friend going through content and doing dungeons day after day in high school. It isn't the same now with a kid on the way and I'm trying to enjoy it as much as I can before I don't have the time anymore. It's like I can feel my childhood slipping through my fingers. It really is surreal. Despite the ups and downs of the game itself, I'm remembering why I loved The Elder Scrolls, which is the depth of the story, immersion in an unknown world with monsters and bandits around every dark corner, and not knowing what kind of story you will create. This is the most stunned comment I’ve read this week… the last 2 expansions are arguably the sole reason much of the player base has dropped and moved on… you’re either new or a casual pve’r, this comment literally made me throw up a little

      yes the story and questing is good, but there is NO argument you can make that companions and a CARD GAME is anywhere on the lvl of adding a new class or skill line , meanwhile WoW is adding a new class a a couple new zones new mount flying system for dragons new raid and also a story and quest all that vs a card game and a zone trial and story
      again yes the story and quest are good but that is not worth what they cost also only crown store to get stuff is lame

      @@egbert5871 The card game is one of my most played modes now and Cobra, to you I'm a beta player who's played since 2014 and the game is in the best state that it's ever been in right now and I'm happy to see it continue.

      @@xbon1 So youre one of those 2000 cp 10k dps people who's been playing since the release but still doesnt have a single trifecta clear, and all their clears are from the carries and who thinks they're good at the game.
