Without the interpretations of the choreography, this version of Falstaff becomes magnificent because the music, the lyrics, the voices, the orchestra are privileged.
This is the strangest version I have ever seen of Verdi's masterpiece. The singers are all quite competent, even great, above all Terfel, but instead of a concert representation I would much have preferred a staged production. Anyway, thanks for uploading this magnificent work.
I don't like opera, I don't know the story, I do not understand a word, but ... the quality of sound is just out of this world! Perhaps I will yet like opera? :)
Besides, the least the producers should have done is surtitled or subititled this opera in any language well known, like Spanish, English, French, German, etc., because it frequently becomes incomprehensible.
Every time Terfel has to sing a solid note above D the camera moves to a long shot. The G at the end of Act I is ruinous. At this point he can only roar coarsely or croon. The voice is a wreck. His dramatic ability distracts from the fact.
Fantastique, excellent , Falstaff congratulations ❤
Falstaff Verdi. sensacional
Bellissima edizione!!!! Bravissimi tutti!!!!!

Orchestra and singing are superlative !!
Bryn Terfel immenso mattatore !
Terfel numero uno in assoluto.....
Superb Singing!!!
Meravigliosa rappresentazione ….. VERDI we love you ❤️❤️❤️
Wonderful!
Totally loved it!!!
Exceptionnel BRAVO
Okay, ALL operas should be done like this.
From now on, yes. Sadly.
Brava! beautiful prodaction
Terfel is brilliant, as usual. 👌🏻
Well, shit. That was amazing.
Bravo Bryn, Daniel Hardin è degno erede di Abbado.

Premiered #otd in 1893 🌹🌹🌹
If only *all* opera productions were given in concert . . .
Terfel is unbeatable. Must go back to Edelmann and Karajan to fiund such a Falstaff (for sure the Abbado rec. with Terfel also).

Keep trying. Watch a video with subtitles - then you’ll know what’s going on. There is FAR more to it than the mere sound
Wait 'til you see the words translated... you'll LOL throughout!😁😅

Verdi's best opera?
That's what Toscanini said.
