As an owner of a 2013 M135i, I completely agree! I've compared a 2016 M140i on my channel and the differences are monumental. They're not the same car. I just need to experience an RS3 before claiming it's the best hot hatch
@@BuckleUpShow yeah the golf is fun, mine was a manual but just found after a while it got a bit boring, almost too perfect. Yes the B58 is an absolute peach of an engine so smooth with the auto box I love it.
I found the passive suspension to be dangerous. Harsh and bouncy worse the faster you went. Swopped it for a birds kit now much improved. Just changed my Michelin super sports for goodyear f1 as6. Night and day improvement. Admittedly the SS were on the car when I got it. Probably drifted around 50 car parks. They just didn't seem to work at all during winter.
Nice review Jasper. I drove all of the hot hatches, and yes I knew some were faster, especially at launching, but that's just boring, anyone can plant the throttle. Some were faster around the twisty bits, but they felt almost too competent and just too grippy. The M140i was by far the most fun. It's a good car as standard, but with a little bit of tuning, it is simply an absolute wild beast, that is so much fun trying to tame. And that is why I don't think I will ever sell mine. The adaptive makes a a big difference Jasper, when you're daily driving, it's much more comfortable, and then in sport+ or traction off mode, it's stiffer than the none-adaptive. Best of both worlds. A simple remap will see well over 400bhp and almost 600nm, which puts it amongst some very quick opposition, and with a sports cat over 450bhp is easily achievable.
Hi Nik, thanks for watching! It's certainly up there with the most fun I've ever had in a hot hatchback. I can see how with a few tweaks this could be turned into even more of a monster. It would be interesting to try one with the adaptive suspension and an LSD to see how much that changes the driving experience. Glad you enjoyed! Jasper
@@BuckleUpShow Hi Jasper, just thought I'd share with you : I had a 200 cell cat fitted to mine, and another remap, it made 455bhp on the dyno, and 634nm torque. I also had the XHP3 gearbox map. I think I need an LSD more than ever now lol !!!
Although nose heavy, probably the best stock drivetrain available in a hatchback. Stock suspension and damper Setup is rather suboptimal for serious usage.
Great cars, and I suppose you could say the last of the “proper 1 series” now they aren’t rear wheel drive. It’s just a shame that the a comfortable driving position is near impossible if you’re 6 foot tall. The same applies with the A Class you drove recently
It's a shame that there won't be any more rear wheel drive 1-Series models, yes! The owner of this particular car is 6'5 and he didn't say anything about not being able to get comfy. I guess he's had longer to faff about with the seating position than we do as reviewers, though!
@@BuckleUpShow It is. Plus the new one looks like a Ford focus😖 I drive a lot of 1 series and A class's for work and they do feel quite cramped but like you said there isn't always the time to find the ideal driving position
Hmm, weird statement. Mate of mine is 205cm which is apparantly 6"7 and has absolutely no problem adjusting the seat to drive/be a passenger comfortably. I am 186cm which is over 6 foot and I also have plenty of room in my M140i to feel super comfortable. Don't forget you can also lower the seat by quite a lot.
Thanks for watching! The seat adjustment was certainly a funny moment, the amount of rear leg room a passenger is left with is comical. I got out of this car after reviewing it and said that I really wanted one, too!
Bit late to the party with m140i vids but I like watching them cos I got one lol
Accurate review. Yes, I own an M140i.

I'd miss the kick through the trans in the m135i though...!
Well reviewed that was better than alot I've seen with more subscribers 👏
Thanks Matthew!
Nice video. Traded my Golf R in for an M140i havent looked back, cracking car always puts a smile on my face
I haven't personally driven a Golf R, but I'd be willing to bet that the M140i handles better and feels smoother - the B58 engine is an absolute gem!

You say the passive suspension is dangerous, we say it sounds like a skill issue 👀👀👀👀

The lack of a standard LSD is also not ideal, but how can you say no to a straight six crammed into a hatchback

The new one certainly has some questionable styling 😂
Totally fine driving position being 6‘1

By heck! What are your thoughts on the M140i?
Those wheels are minging. Also the display are only partially digital. The speedo and rev guage are analogue
Thanks for watching
Swear this video is late? 🤔🤦♂️
We won't speak of this
