    人の肌よりも 硬い木の板を
    人の肌みたいに 柔らかくしなやかに、つくるなんて 職人さんの 技術って例えようがないくらい凄い。

    Dym sensei, I've always wanted to do this my whole life. Unfortunately I started doing something else as a profession but I feel it's never too late. If the classes are still taking place I'd shut down my business just so I could have the opportunity to take part in this art form. Great video, thank you for sharing.

      Bjorn, They are going to try and run the Noh Training Project this summer, but given Japanese travel restrictions, not sure if the noh masks portion will be running. I would recommend trying to plan to participate in the mask workshop in summer 2022.

      @fraterlibertas3036 They have had them for about 5 summers as part of the Noh Training Project. You make a mask over three weeks. I took the course and it was great!

    Nice camera angles, Jeff. How long was the process and what kind of wood did he use?

    • @Dymsensei
      @Dymsensei  7 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      The wood he uses is hinoki. This film is part of a larger project on Noh masks that I am working on and in that film the entire history of noh masks and noh mask making will be examined in more depth.

      Where was that Noh mask filmed? Such an exceptional beauty, I want to go there and have a look.

      Wassup jeff, you mentioned this film being a part of a larger project on Noh Masks, can you give me more detail on what the name of the film will be, where we can watch the full film, if it will be on sale and anything else relating to the film? Would love to check it out, looking forward to hearing your response

    Dym Sensei how much does an average noh- mask cost to buy?

    • @Dymsensei
      @Dymsensei  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You can get some cheaply made ones for a few $100. The ones made in this film will cost a $3,000 to $15,000

    Can someone explain that seal being put inside

    • @Dymsensei
      @Dymsensei  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is basically the artist signing their artwork with there name. Seals comprised of the Chinese characters for a person's name have been used for signatures in East Asia for centuries.

    what is the size of the wood do you used?

    • @Dymsensei
      @Dymsensei  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the type of mask as some require a larger piece than others. But roughly 8-10cm x 20 x 26 or so

    I would love to learn how to create Noh Masks they are so interesting and beautiful. Japan is very blessed and also smart to hold on to and cherish their traditions, unlike the west where we and our traditions are constantly under attack by Marxists it's getting really bad nothing is safe or sacred anymore!
