Overview
It may not be as fun to drive as the Porsche Cayenne, nor is it as effortlessly smooth as the Genesis GV80, but the 2024 BMW X5 blends traits from both of those to create an agreeable-and agreeably luxurious-middle ground. From the outset, it's clear the X5 is going for broad appeal. Why else would BMW offer it with a trio of different powertrains, including a silky-smooth inline-six, an authoritative twin-turbo V-8, and an environmentally friendly plug-in hybrid? The SUV's cabin is lined with premium materials and, like other BMWs, includes cleverly integrated technology features like a slick-looking curved digital display that stretches nearly the length of the dashboard. This approach results in a luxury SUV so well-rounded that its few shortcomings are easily overlooked, and the X5 remains one of our favorite mid-size crossovers.
What's New for 2024?
BMW has sharpened the X5's exterior for 2024, including a revised front grille and bumper, new headlamps and taillamps, and updated wheel designs. The top-spec M60i model wears gloss-black exterior accents, quad tailpipes, and an M logo in the grille. Both the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six and the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 engines benefit from a new 48-volt hybrid system, and the six-cylinder has been massaged further to boost output to 375 horsepower. Despite changing its name from M50i to M60i, the performance-oriented model's horsepower stays the same at 523 ponies. Last year's xDrive45e plug-in hybrid variant has been replaced with a more powerful xDrive50e, which offers 94 more horsepower and 10 more miles of electric-only driving range, for 483 horsepower and 40 miles of EV driving. All X5s also receive a new curved infotainment display and BMW's latest iDrive 8 software interface, which is already scheduled for an update to iDrive 8.5 sometime in the summer of 2023. The X5 is also now available with the Highway Assistant hands-free driving feature that we first experienced in the new 7-series flagship luxury sedan.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The 2024 X5 is offered with one of three distinct powertrains, each associated with a different model. X5s wearing the sDrive40i or xDrive40i badges are powered by a 375-hp turbocharged inline-six. The last time we tested an xDrive40i it made just 335 horsepower but still managed a quick 4.8-second run to 60 mph, so we expect a little extra hustle from the more powerful version. The plug-in hybrid xDrive50e comes with a turbocharged inline-six and an electric motor that combine for 483 horsepower. Last but not least, the M60i's 523-hp twin-turbo V-8 enables it to rush to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. All three powertrains are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and none of them will leave drivers wanting for power in virtually any driving situation. The X5's refined ride and stable handling are hallmarks of this generation of BMW SUVs, as is its steering, which feels connected and direct. The Audi Q7 still has the X5 beat in this area, but it's a close match. Pitch the X5 into a fast corner, and it holds on reliably and rewards the driver with a predictability that's missing from the Mercedes-Benz GLE-class.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
Interior space is generous for adults in both the first and second rows, but the X5's optional third row is for kids only. Once settled inside, occupants are treated to a cabin lined with high-quality materials, plenty of charging points for devices, and-depending on the options chosen-myriad luxury features. Power-adjustable front seats with memory for the driver are standard. All models come with a power-adjustable steering column, heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power rear liftgate, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and customizable ambient lighting. Massaging seats, remote start, soft-close doors, acoustic glass, a leather dashboard, and heated front armrests and steering wheel can make the X5 feel like a high-end luxury SUV but add a lot of dough to the bottom line. Speaking of expensive options, buyers can add a Bowers & Wilkins surround-sound audio system that features diamond-domed tweeters.

Looks great. I do love the x5 in most iterations. The only complaint I have is with all current BMW’s; they look weak. Diffusers and bumpers don’t make up for a lack of fender flaring and wider wheels. The x5 was so sporty a few years back and now they all have the bodywork of a mom car.
weak? thats an extremely bad take when u only mention 2 issues and 1 of them, thicker tires, is an easy aftermarket adjustment.. more fender flare isnt necessary and if anything its nice that there are aftermarket things u can do to ur car to make it stand out from others
@@GmoneyDaGamer24 aftermarket is irrelevant. They factory car does not have the stance and muscular look that made the X5 unique for years. Now it’s nice but just not the same. It’s my opinion based on the X5 history. Why argue?

What is it with the thigh bolsters on BMW seats. Love the cars, had a G05 with multi contour seats in merino leather, but ffs sort out the bolsters that cut into your thigh!

@@franciswong1025 the older I got the worse the BMW seats got. Lower back pain after long journeys. Just wish they’d make comfy supportive seats. New ones are like sitting on a board. Brilliant cars but sort out the seats. Porsches 18 way seats are on another level, supportive and really comfy and soft in the right places. Sort it out BMW!

Вот и я говорю, убожество. Торчит тупо экран в пол торпеды, как будто плазму порезали пополам и тупо вставили. Рулевая колонка должна быть с приборной панелью отдельно и в едином каком то блоке, а сейчас руль сам по себе приборы сами по себе и монитор торчит как на дешевле китайце...

На пикапах откидывающаяся вниз часть крышки багажника удобно, можно наступить и ходить по багажному отделению,тут нет. Чуть тяжелее багаж - не протолкнуть. Далеко до сидушек.Удобней было бы просто ровный проем.

From my vast experience in BMW as a regular buyer, the leg room in X5 in 2nd row is good ..but the third row is horrible! If u want to go for the most comfy and spacious car go for X7

its funny i had my 2024 on order and now own it for a month when this video came out. way to be late to the party
Compare to BYD U8, this Germany SUV is a joke. I drove one X3 13yrs ago, its a junk full of problem and quite cheap quality.
But what amazed me is how fast China luxury EV has developed and progressed over last 10yrs while Germany and Japan still dwell in old dulling styles inside out with fuel guzzling engine of lesser power.
Что сказать, от старых моделей х5. Этот потерял весь свой функционал как х5. Назвали бы эту модель по другому, я бы понял. А так не пойму, по дизайну салона, кто у кого содрал? Чери тиго 9 или БМВ? Что то, что то какая то китайщина. В итоге огромный микроавтобус, но качественный. Как на таком сьехать на полянку с травой, и я не говорю, чтобы преодолеть канаву...? Рояльный лак на бампере, с микрощелями (отвод воздушных потоков), для чего? Чтобы палочкой грязь и траву выковыривать? Ладно, пусть это для трассы и города, тогда такой сарай невысокий и с длинными свесами как парковать в городе? А на трассе, седан по любому комфортнее будет, сравниваю с такими же элитными авто. Вобщем, получился комфортабельный микроавтобус (хотя к заднему ряду есть вопросы), ничего общего не имеющий с первоначальным х5. И явно сделан с уклоном на китай, и это еще Индия не поднялась, а то бы мы увидели в салоне 1000 колокольчиков по периметру лобового стекла.
Народ подскажите пожалуйста как можно собрать деньги на такое авто имея трех детей и ипотеку..

I would avoid BMW X5 like the plague. Seriously, I would’ve recommend this car brand not even to an enemy of mine. Especially after the wonderful experience I just had where in 2017 I bought a 2011 BMW X5 with just 100k miles, 1 owner and zero acidents. After just 3 months use, it developed a tiny small oil leak, you couldn’t even see the oil leak on the pavement. Being a good sheep that I used to be I ended up taking it to the dealership to get fixed. They came back with a $23,000 bill saying that I needed a whole entire new engine. Also not to mention,That bmw dealership in Massachusetts had a whole bunch of high school kids working as mechanics.

I’m halfway through this video and I’m confused . I have a 2023 x5 m sport. This interior looks like a 2024, especially with the gearshift. My interior looks nothing like us, especially with the new redesigned display screen.
