    Thank you for the demonstration of the shaft system.
    It is a HORIZONTAL shaft engine and like you,I am intrigued at the gear ratio...I wondered why it is not 1-1 or faster.

      @chetmyers7041 ปีที่แล้ว

      The blade runs at 75% of engine speed, but you gain some torque which is good in thick grass.

    Thanks for showing the mechanics of this mower. It’s not like most and I appreciate being able to see it up close. Waiting to see how well on does on the tough stuff. I believe it’s a horizontal shaft engine though.

    Thanks so much for showing this. Although it seems completely overengineered, I tend to wonder if the belt system does a better job of saving the engine than a traditional keyway. Definitely seems to be easily maintainable though. Great Job Dan!

    Hmmm question is it just me or does the engine shaft seem shorter than most other lawnmower engines? The reason I ask is what if you want to put a different vertical shaft engine on it? How would a longer shaft engine fit into the gear box?

    Very interesting. I don't need a mower, but kinda want to buy this just for how unique it is. You would think it would of been cheaper to just use a Vertical engine. A plus is that if you hit something hard with the blade you just damage the blade and belt instead of possibly bending the crank, downside is wet grass cutting that belt will probably slip. Cheap mower too.

  • @aldoclausi3955

    Interesting looks like an underdrive transmission. It increases torque to the blade and keeps the blade tip speed down to meet government regulations while keeping the engine in a higher power band. Can you let us know the rpm of the engine at full throttle?

    • @DansVlog
      @DansVlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmmm, the manual said the blade spins at 2700rpm. So I guess the engine is 25% faster? So would that be 3600rpm (engine speed)?

    • @aldoclausi3955
      @aldoclausi3955 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Very cool stuff Dan. I know government regulations are a 21inc blade tip can not exceed 19000 fps, someone smarter then me has to do the conversion from rpm to fps at the blade tip. 4 cycle small engine are usally rated at 3600rpm. Residential lawn mowers usually spin between 2900rpm and 3300rpm so they don't really reach their peak rated hp. This one does. Good video series and good engineering.

    If you look at A 1950s mower it's basically the same. However this model happens to be A beast mulching knee high grass perfect the first time without the engine bogging down due to it's strong gearbox. And the second best part is if this engine fails being A horizontal shaft. You could go to harbor freight and buy A cheap engine they all have A full throttle control mostly metal with no stupid shaft crap.

    I feel like the reason this exists is because the only machine the needs a vertical shaft engine is a rotary push mower. If they develop a small gear box then all the engines can be the same now.
    Edit: This design looks like it can solve several problems one being bent crankshafts.

  • @TB-lo9iq

    Seems like a major design error reducing the speed of the blade relative to the engine. It would have been much better to take the opportunity to overdrive the blade. Tip speed is everything when it comes to getting a clean cut and being able to travel quickly across the lawn. If they had overdriven the blade, you could run the engine slower and still maintain good tip speed without having to listen to that engine screaming at 3600 rpm. With the blade slowed down, I fail to see the advantage of this complex design over the much simpler vertical shaft arrangement. I suppose if you are mowing a dang hayfield and need the extra torque it would be nice, but not for a well-kept residential lawn

    • @DansVlog
      @DansVlog  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well thank God you’re not an engineer! Watch the video where I use this mower on 3 foot tall grass and then tell us how it is such an error 😂

    • @TB-lo9iq
      @TB-lo9iq ปีที่แล้ว

      @DansVlog yes, that's exactly the application where slowing down the blade to gain torque would be helpful. However, sane people use a brush-hog or sickle bar to cut 3' tall grass. They would use this mower to cut their front lawn from 4" to 3". They want high blade speed and low engine noise.
      As neat as this complicated Rube Goldberg mower is, I guess it was a commercial flop since Menards is liquidating the overstock for $199. Maybe if Dan'sVlog wasn't so prickly and butthurt about simple comments, more people would have followed his sales pitch and bought one.

    • @DansVlog
      @DansVlog  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TB-lo9iq so we insane? 😂 Give it up. On video for your own lying eyes to see, the mower did better with this design then I could’ve even asked my $7000 Hydro walk behind to of been able to accomplish. Now, if you want to question it’s longevity because of the design and the extra moving parts, that’s valid and I question that as well. That will be yet to be seen but as far as blade tip speed and all this dumb crap you’re trying to explain, the video speaks for itself, it did a fantastic job handling incredibly nasty crap

    • @TB-lo9iq
      @TB-lo9iq ปีที่แล้ว

      @DansVlog Yes Dan, you are irrationally defensive about a cheap Chinese mower with a novel but flawed design. Rabid is the word that comes to mind. I have no doubt it will cut tall grass, but it's more likely to be used for weekly mowing, and for that task it's not optimized.
      Curious too, once you chew up those bevel gears (not a ring and pinion as you like to mistakenly say), where does one go to pick up replacement parts for this chi-com wonder? Of course, at $199 I suppose we can assume it's disposable!

    • @DansVlog
      @DansVlog  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TB-lo9iq I am not defending the mower. I am simply proving you wrong. Your theory of the flawed design in slowing down the blade tip speed is simply wrong. You’re speaking your thoughts. I did a video and literally proved it’s ability. It’s a done debate bro. I could give 2 poops about Powersmart or the price of the mower. Means nothing to me. I get this stuff for free and sell them 50% off Amazon price thru FB Marketplace. Your continued thought I am defending or caring about the sales of this mower is just wrong. I call them “Disposable Mowers” for a reason. Now go away little minded person. You’re making this video more popular to YT algorithms by your continued comments 😂
