@@headbuttacactus Yes. NASCAR should give them both a little plaque of appreciation every year with a great big check for being their no-cost legacy marketing ambassadors.
I met Hermie on a cold night in 2003 in VA when my car broke down driving to Ft Bragg NC as a young private I didnt have the 50 bucks it was for a hotel room after paying for the car repairs he not only paid for the room but gave me a few dollars for some food. I retire in November and if Dale could help me reach out to Hermie I would be honored to have him at my retirement his kindness ment the world to me.
Dale, this was a great interview, man I love the Sadler Brothers, I followed them for years, good people. Dale I have followed your Dad you and Kelly since you were a small child. My husband sold me on NASCAR June 19th 1960, he and friends drove from Knoxville Tn, to see the race, in Charlotte they slept on a blanket on the ground and had the best time ever.We got married June 24th 1960, we just celebrated our 64th wedding Anniversary and we are still great fans of You, your Family and Nascar. Thank you for sharing all the great years with us, giving us great memories. Keep up the awesome work. 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
I will always argue that Elliott was one of the most underrated drivers of the 2000's, sucks to hear how his career was laid out, but that's life I guess. He seems like such a genuine guy though, this was an awesome interview and I'm glad they both shared a piece of their lives.
Yes very underrated. He was going to make the 2005 Chase until Yates decided he wasn’t going to give two craps about the team anymore and his career was never the same after that.
My son is autistic. I have a huge new respect for Hermie. I have always been a fan of Elliot I wish he stayed at wood bros but it worked out. Now I’m a fellow autistic dad with hermie. It takes a special dad to deal with it!!
Buddy of mine works at the travel plaza and shared a picture on Facebook of himself with Dale Jr when he stopped in. I’ve personally met both Sadler brothers multiple times, and actually carried on a 15 plus minute conversation with Elliott about anything and everything but racing. Both are standup guys.
@02:00:00 this really hits me, both of my kids are on the spectrum, both high functioning, my daughter who a older (and later diagnosed, she was test on the outdated Aspbergers scale), has the higher function. Hermie’s trials and tribulations with Hailey’s diagnosis, her having to be on routine, yeah that feels so real to me.
I could listen to the Sadlers all day. They are class acts. Both were great drivers and they are some of my favorites. I remember the #19 car that Elliott used to drive as a teammate to Kasey Kahne and Scott Riggs for Gillette Evernham. I do remember the 2010 Pocono Wreck and how bad it was. They were great drivers.
I MUST SAY , I GAINED A TON OF RESPECT FOR HERMIE AND HIS FAMILY FOR EMBRACING LIFE WITH AN AUTISIC CHILD !! LISTENING TO HIM TALK ABOUT IT I REALLY FELT HUMBLED !! THE BROTHERS ARE TREMENDOUS PEOPLE THAT I ADMIRE !!
This was the best conversation I ever saw. I have always loved Elliott and now love Hermie. They are so down to earth and personable. Wonderful son, husbands, dads. Thank you. I cant wait to see them again. You also Jr.
Hermie, God gave her to you, because he knew you were strong, tough, smart, and loving enough to help her live her life. God bless you, and the entire Sadler family.
Great hearing the Sadler Brothers. Probably my favorite JR Podcast. I could listen to these fellas talk forever. Was at Charlotte in 2000 outside my buddy’s motorhome singing Karaoke, drinking beer and acting like fools and out of the dark walks up Elliott. He jokingly said “can ya keep it down over here” slaps a few high fives then walked off with his friends. Wish he would have hung out.
Fantastic interview with the 'Sadler' Brothers from Their start in 'Racing' and what Their doing now, Dale Jr your 'knocking' it out the Park, it's so Great to hear Their from All People in 'NASCAR' Past and Present
I met Hermie and Elliott Sadler at South Hampton Speedway when the wrestler Hardcore Bob Holly was racing the number 22 Sadler Slip-in late model. All of them were so nice and we talked for an hour about the racetrack and other things. Top notch people. Great to see them together on the Dale Jr show. Thanks for the great show!
Man, this did my racing heart good! Elliott was the first driver I ever coined as being “my driver”. I never really seen Hermie and Elliott interact very much, but you can read it all over each other the respect they have for each other. The fact that all 3 of them were dead silent listening to each other, speaks volumes about how much all 3 respect each other and their friendship!
I have to say this episode with the Sadler bothers was absolutely one of the best episodes I have watched. The trials and tribulations they have gone thru along with the successes they have had was amazing to learn about. Thank you Dale and the Sadlers for a wonderful show.
My favorite racer growing up. I missed the signing session with Elliot when I was 9 years old. My mom sent a photo of me in his merch explaining how sad I was. 6 weeks later I got a signed 38 car and a letter from him and his team The “packing peanuts” were peanut m&ms 😂 tons of them
Im a B car guy...and have race Elliott a bunch...hes fast....i learned the Darlington line from following him in the truck.....great guy..im a big fan..
I have fond memories of watching the Sadler brothers racing Go Carts at the original Carteret County Track owned by my departed friend Bobby Watson back in the ‘80s.
Awesome episode. All of us in the Facebook Elliott fan page raged about Preece too. Loved him in Busch then the 21, 38, 19 (too bad everyone got screwed over by Evernham. I always blamed Erin Crocker) then back to his KHI to JRM days. I was glad to know he came to the retirement decision on his own. Speculated it might have been because One Main was leaving. The Sadler brothers had great barn parties for fans too & used to have a race benefiting autism at Concord Mills. Race For Hope. So glad he’s happy being coach. What an awesome dad. I remember when he was on your show before talking about how he used to drive all night from VA and sleep in his truck just so he could be there to put his kids to bed. Heart of gold. He needed 2 episodes and still couldn’t fit it all in. You’re a lucky man to have them as friends. Would have liked to hear more stories about you guys back in the day.
Truly had a Great Appreciation to listen to these Two Fine Men. Listen to the three of y'all reflect on Life's moments and come out better Men is beyond Encouraging it was Uplifting!!! Thank You for what you are doing with the podcast!
Best damn Dale Jr Download that I have ever experienced in my freaking life!!! I sat up until 3 am in the morning watching this episode! OMG this was sooooo damn good!
Man I was so glad to hear from Elliott and Hermie. Huge fan of them guys. Being from Maryland, I been rooting for them Virginia boys since I was a kid 🤘🏼
Thanks to you Dale Jr. and for spotlighting the Sadler Brothers. Glad I was able to see the Barry Beggarly and Maurice Hill racing at Orange County Speedway and South Boston with Elliott racing back in the day! Thanks again for the caring and compassion I saw in your eyes when Hermie was talking about his autistic daughter.🙏
I make it a point any time I’m running down 95 to swing into emporia and stop a their place. JR Motorsports wants to hire me as a hauler driver, they just don’t know it yet! Awesome work here!!!!
Fantastic show! Really enjoyed getting to know the Sadler brothers racing history and what they to today. There should be a special place for Hermie Sadler, the things that man has gone through and done are incredible.
Meet Elliot at the Air Museum in Warner Robins GA. one year before the spring Atlanta race. Every bit as humble and down to earth as he seemed on TV. He spoke with my sons, signed a poster for me. Truly enjoyed meeting him and we always followed his career.
Great stuff from the Sadler brothers. Their journey is a testament to hard work and perseverance. The racing stories are always the best. Would love to hear more about those early days in Virginia. Keep up the great work.
I wasn't sold on the guests, but I decided to give it a chance. I'm glad I did. This is a wonderful and dynamic interview. Late in the interview, when Hermie speaks about his autistic daughter and how the family works to accommodate is truly a wonderful thing. Great interview, JR!
Elliott was my childhood driver for many years. In 2004 me and my family went to Myrtle Beach for vacation and stopped at Elliott and Hermie's truck stop and got two of his diecasts. Would love to see him do a 1 off for Jr!
Awesome podcast. I don’t know how they can get any better. Them two brothers are close and I hope they stay that way thank you for an awesome podcast Dale.
Was able to meet Elliott a couple of times while working on the maintenance staff at the Dean Smith Center. Obviously, being there for Carolina basketball game, Elliott visited our shop a few times and came in like he knew us all. So friendly. Being a huge Dale Jarrett fan and Elliot was driving the 38 car at that time, was extra cool when he and Dale came by the shop while attending a Duke UNC game and I was able to meet Dale. Both were class acts! By far one of my favorite downloads.
I've been watching NASCAR since the early 80's. Learning all these behind the scenes scenarios is fascinating. I'm learning a lot about my favorite sport and all the people involved.
Every interview that you do is better than the last. Elliott Sadler has always been one of my favorites, the time he drove for the Wood Brothers and for Robert Yates are some of my most fond memories. It was just searching wonderful thing to see two brothers that seem to love each other and get along with each other so much. Thank you, Dale for bringing us this wonderful pairing.
probably one of the best interviews i have seen on your program. I have always respected the Sadler brothers and having a Autistic grandson, Hermie gave great testimony as to the life of raising special children.
Great show! Thank you Dale for having Hermie amd Elliott on. Definitely a fan of both. Three cool dudes hanging out shooting the breeze. Just an awesome show.
I spent about 17 years of my Navy career at Norfolk VA Hermie and Elliott were my guys at the track. I also followed Ricky Rudd for a number of years. The Virgina Accent is so cool amd really enjoyed my time there and watching Elliott and Hermie race.
You are nailing one great interview after another. I normally never listen to a 2 hour podcast. I’m not even that big of a NASCAR fan but I was wishing it was longer. Good people.
The absolute best Dirty Mo interview ever. The Sadler brothers are NASCAR royalty whether they think so or not! 2 of the best men to ever put the fire suit on and climb in a race car. As a lifelong Elliott Sadler fan, I love hearing him and Hermie on podcasts! NASCAR hasn't been the same since they left NASCAR but I am always glad to hear they are doing well!
This was great! Some people may not realize what is involved in a race car drivers life. The Sadler brothers are great guys. I love to see Dale when someone is telling him information he doesn't know about. Dale gets all into it. Great, great podcasts. Thank you, Dale! ❤ 🙏
Dale Jr should be classified as a Historian. He's collecting and archiving stories and the people who lived the life.
And it’s literally one of the greatest things on social media.
We love what we do!
He’s a bum
JR and Stapleton42 are prob THE BEST at the Nascar history videos 🤘🤘🤘

Met their mom years ago at Sadler's truck stop in Emporia. She was so kind and talkative to us race fans. The Sadlers are a great racing family.
She sounds very kind!
@@DirtyMoMedia I stopped there for dinner one evening and met Hermie's wife. She was willing to spend a few minutes talking to us.
