Patel bhai, I am a Canadian citizen with Indian heritage. I sympathize with your situation and feel sorry that you were attacked without any provocation (as you were only driving from work to home). Having said that, I vehemently disagree with you that this anger amongst Canadian people is happening without cause. In the last 3-5 years, the uncivil behaviour of recent Indian immigrants (some people and not all) is becoming very visible in the public domain. This is what’s infuriating native Canadians. Here are some examples - 1) Littering on the streets. Not cleaning up after using something / using a public property. 2) Reckless driving and aggressive behaviour on the road (Brampton is a prime example). Also, crossing railway tracks with utter disregard for the law. I have personally seen so many Punjabis do that at Toronto Union Station. 3) Speaking loudly in public spaces, playing music at an annoyingly loud volume. 4) Housing 10-15 ppl in 2-3 bedroom homes and then not maintaining hygiene and cleanliness in the house and its adjacent areas. 5) Not being able to speak decent levels of English or French while engaging with society and expecting native Canadians to learn Punjabi instead. 6) Using food banks as an excuse to save on grocery expenses and promoting it on social media with pride etc. 7) Coming into the country as students and tourists and then demanding Canada to grant them work/permanent residency and protesting in the streets for that. These are serious issues and needs to be immediately addressed by immigrants from India. You cannot keep behaving badly and expect no counter responses. Canadians have NOT been hostile to immigrants from India previously but they are now increasingly getting annoyed by the uncivilized behaviours. It’s time immigrants realize that they have come to Canada for a better life and learn to respect Canadian values, culture and traditions and integrate into the local community. I’m sorry, but you are being dishonest in addressing the core issue. Immigrants are to blame for pushing the issue too far that you’re now seeing the counter response. Change must begin from within.

Delhi to New York round trip costs 800 to 1000 CAD per person, while costs are double in Canada. Not to mention broken infrastructure in Canada. After that, they land in New York or Boston. I do a 5 to 6 hours drive to my home in Canada, shop at outlet malls, get Trader Joe's grocerries on the way.
