I lived in New Holland and we used to use the railway line to get to Barton ,once the train went by we had an hour to walk along the train tracks ,if we caught sight of the yellow front of the tran we hid in the bushes at the side of the track till it passed then kept going till we got there don't suppose that happens now .
Henry V111 stayed at Thornton Abbey ....................years before it's destruction. The night before he spent at a Motte and Bailey Castle probably on the site or very near to Greengrass Farm Marsh Lane Barrow Haven
Jack HARGREAVES owned farms around here, Thornton Abbey, I think his son still farms locally. I worked for him at Goxhiil, he was a very good boss as were his sons Julian and Jonathon

My Aunt had a shop here forever, before that she had 'The Sloop' Inn down Waterside Road, Barton on Humber

I live in Barton! Thornton Abbey station always looks disused.
