Man I didn’t know how much I’m into garage sales until this vid. My nanna and Grandy used to get up super early to hunt the garage sales. We even got to go with them sometimes. This was really cool. My favourite find, was the pocket knife. That’s a gem of a treasure. 🤘
The knifes a solid investment but the pokemon cards are mainly duplicated, or more commen cards but that said the charvazard can be worth any thing from $3 - $50k+ depending on class/type of card
I agree! I mean in a desperate move i sold my completed collection of pokemon cards 1st and second era of new pokemon for 27$ bc vintage stock is scandalous. And of course i was young and dumb for people who are no longer in my life... Not even for alcohol or drugs... It was the dumbest thing i've done
Incorrect. If you can haggle down, the entire bulk lot + the ETBs were probably a great buy. Rule of thumb is you should always buy Pokemon and MTG lots at a good price. It’s almost always a good decision.
hey klesh just a heads up there is a spring in the clasp of jewelry that will stick to the magnetic but the rest of the necklace could be gold the small gold necklace looked like it didn't stick to anything except the clasp hope this helps you find more treasures on video for us good luck and happy hunting
Second this. I make silver jewellery and this is something to definitely keep in mind. Especially as a lot of people do "home repairs" where they add a clasp off a cheap necklace so they can continue to wear their own one without paying for a precious metal replacement...I may or may not also do this even as a jeweller 🤣
I was going to mention the same thing. Recently one of my fiends aunts passed away and she had tons of jewelry. We did the magnet thing and my friend kept tossing jewelry in the costume jewelry pile even thought it was marked 14K all because the magnet stuck to the clasp. I explained to him the springs in the clasps have to be spring steel because precious metals will not work as springs. I put it all in a baggie and we let the jeweler decide if it was real or not and sure enough everything was what it was marked.
@@johnro6659 yes and even the clasp shell is maid of karat gold but just the spring inside of it is spring steel so don't just get rid of the clasp if it's marked just take the spring out and then melt it all and cast yourself something nice for the stack

You did the right thing not getting them Pokemon cards. The red flag was the dude knew which ones was of value and still tried to sell them cheap. The reason being is that Walmart was selling counterfeit ones and he probably got his from Walmart and he knew that.
@The Truthful Vaper what's "hp and attacks"? I thought the guys cover story was good. It would have been my story but he (seller) shouldn't have thrown in some other guy was there earlier.
You’re not really right. For the right price, as long as you know the difference between fake and real, you should buy every Pokemon or MTG card lot you can find. Try to haggle down. Nothing from the video suggested the cards were fake. The best way to tell is to feel the card stock. The second best is judge how bright/dull the ink is.
I would pay that much for the plastic draws full of nick nacks. Dude I scored a bunch of tools from a sale last week and thought of you. An old guy moving from his home to a resthome. That knife is an awesome find! Super cool! I agree with you on the Pokémon cards. I have no interest in that kind of stuff personally but I’m sure there’s a pretty good market.
I just wanna say that I absolutely love this video. After being in the antiques and collectables market since I was a small child, I don’t watch garage sale/flea market content on TH-cam because of how much they bother me. Most people on TH-cam are going after video games, old clothes, or some furniture, which is all stuff I’m into. But I hate the “chase the bag” mentality that all these people have and how clueless and fast paced everything is. Most people are also aware of what they have when it comes to newer things. But these videos are different for me, you’re going after the small stuff like jewelry, tools and antiques, things my dad taught me to go after and it’s a cozy watch because of how much it reminds me of my father. I go into thrift stores these days and don’t even bother looking for much else besides jewelry and precious metals while all the younger kids are stuck looking for looney toons and Pokémon shirts. Anyways, thank you so much for posting actual good content amongst the sea of bs on TH-cam.
Great finds! I’m surprised you didn’t buy the old pans for wall backdrop decorations. I used to go to yard sales with my family and this reminds me of all the fun we had doing it together.
If you want to do covert filming with your phone a good way to do it is to go into the accessibility settings in iOS if you have an iPhone and set up the option to make your phone black and white and then after you start filming(make sure it’s not on Timelapse or something you don’t want) bring the brightness all the way down and have a soda or something else you normally want to keep upright. Put it behind the phone so as to cover the screen as much as possible, although in low brightness and black and white it’s almost impossible to see the screen. This way it’s a normal upright position for holding a drink and phone in one hand. Doesn’t look weird and you can basically film pointing the camera straight ahead. You can film everything and not have to point it down.

I once found a German coin silver fob knife on the South Platte in Waterton Canyon. Depending on the maker yours could be worth anywhere from $50.00 to $250.00. Nice score. Mine is worth around $100.00 but I wont be selling it. Goes to my grandson.

Hi Shane, I don't understand why you passed up those metal gold pans! They may not have been as useful as such, but they were super cool and would make great decoration pieces in the background of your panning station.
Not bad at all love those compartment boxes people throw all kinds of good stuff in those sometimes even a ring or two that pocket knife has to be worth at least $40 dollars or more I’m guessing, they don’t make them like they used to. Great yard sale video thanks for sharing see you on the next one👍🏻👊🏻
Do you consider the costume jewelry at all? I have made a lot of dough selling costume jewelry, of course it depends on the brand and where it was made some costume jewelry can bring in some serious cash. I was recently given a box of supposedly junk jewelry. A majority of it was from costume jewelry companies out of RI where 80% of the costume jewelry manufactured in the US either comes from or came from RI and some of the extinct brands can be worth way more than the .50 cents you grab it up at yard sales. Here in New England you can find tons of it especially in southern Mass and RI. It might be worth while to catch up on what the stuff is worth especially the vintage items you might be missing out of some treasures.
OK that’s interesting though I never really considered trying to resell costume jewelry but maybe it’s something I should look more into. Thank you for that information
Smart move on the Pokemon cards. I see them at every other yard sale. Unless you really know what you are doing with them always pass. Hard to tell real from fake. Some are damn good fakes. Then you end up selling a few on eBay and you'll have a nightmare on your hands..great video. 3 weekends of yard sale busts here in central Florida. Make it 4 with the tropic storm tomorrow 🙄
Yeah, I am heavily invested in pokemon cards and that was clearly just a guy running a scam. All of the gold cards were fake and worth nothing. They dont make gold cards that look anything like that.

Shane, every time you say "if you're still here", I think to myself, "why wouldn't I be?" You move along at a good pace and make it interesting and enjoyable enough to keep a person's attention. On the Poke'mon cards, I feel you made a good decision to leave them for people that are familiar with and comfortable selling them. Your hand-engraved silver knife was the find of the day. I think the process they used was stamping or engraving, not carving, though I'm not quite sure. Lot of care went into making it. Enjoy it in a display cabinet for a while. ( : Why not?
I don't know much about the newer cards but you're good to pass on those I think. He seemed to get the box sets which give you those "look highly collectable" ones which everyone can get and not actually rare and why he had so many of "that kind" the foil type. I'm assuming they're from box sets. For the rings you passed on, are they not worth it? for .25 a piece?
@@Klesh oh wow.... That seems high. Lol I asked cause I have found about 3 sterling silver rings for 50 cents each and was like if you don't pick up 25 cent ones, am I wrong in doing so? Lol thanks for the clarity
Great finds but those Pokémon cards are not going for 60 you can find them for about 5 a piece for the metal ones and the rest are fairly common / bulk cards except the top loaded ones I just bought a bulk lot for $30 for about 1500 cards including holos and reverse holos
Hi from Australia I understand with the pokemon cards so time consuming gold and silver and gems all the way that's what I look for some people don't know what they have
My dad has one of those big units full of just useful screws, nuts, and all sorts of stuff. Has it hanging from the wall, very very useful. Yeah this comment is just so I can push the algorithm a bit, nothing spectacular
Shane, do you still get out to the river and prospect? If so, was wondering if you would be interested in testing / reviewing my 3' River Bed Hog Green Mountain Gold Trap Patent Number US 11,273,452 Dan Hurd did a review for my 23" Pay Streak Finder a year or two ago. I have not had anyone do one for the larger model. Wish I could have linked up with you when you came to Vermont but it didn't work out. Joseph
I do all sorts of treasure hunting on my channel, I definitely will be getting back out to the river once my prospecting shop is in order. Right now and for the past couple months I’ve been building it as seen on my daily upload channel. You can hold off on sending a sluice for now but get back to me in about a month and I’m sure we can work something out!
@@Klesh Glad to hear is Shane. Noticed your latest outing was a while back so I wasn't sure. I told Dan Hurd to use the gold trap for a give away since he's in BC Canada. You on the other hand can keep it or, give it away. I will make a note to reach out in a month or so.
I would take that 5,00 dollar knife over 100 Pokemon cards. I thought the prospector and those 3 metall gold pans were cool., even though you passed on them. All the hardware will save you a bunch of money and trips to the store. Nice!

It is last weeks video the magnetic gold video
Hidi ho Klesh, I got the same jewelers loupe
Do you usually forgo the seatbelt when you're recording and driving at the same time?
I always forgo the seatbelt, i think they’re unsafe
My son says "I'm mad!". Lol
Some of those cards can go for big bank. Like 100 dollars a card.ive seen some go for as much as 500.
I’m Japan I saw some Pokémon cards selling in a store for thousands
Well dodged with the pokemon cards, they are worthless
Those charizards were fake as fuck. If they were legit they would be far from worthless though
Oh for sure, I agree the charizards at first glance already look extremely fishy
Contour gauge 😎🖖
Martin electric or plain?
I don't know much about the newer cards but you're good to pass on those I think. He seemed to get the box sets which give you those "look highly collectable" ones which everyone can get and not actually rare and why he had so many of "that kind" the foil type. I'm assuming they're from box sets. For the rings you passed on, are they not worth it? for .25 a piece?
$25 a piece
@@Klesh oh wow.... That seems high. Lol I asked cause I have found about 3 sterling silver rings for 50 cents each and was like if you don't pick up 25 cent ones, am I wrong in doing so? Lol thanks for the clarity
That knife is for cutting fruit apples. pears. peaches. probably made in England.
Quality soundtrack to the video Shane! Is it you?
Nope but all music credits are in the description
it is a fruit knife and that is why it is sterling silver and is a great score.
Nice video, one question, how do you find all this garage sales?
Craigslist “garage sales” listings 👍
Good intuition, they sell those Pokemon cards at the swap meet. Also the weight is a dead giveaway, they're thinner and flimsy.
JW, do you live in PA? Awesome videos🙌🏻
I am originally from Pennsylvania and lived there until I joined the military
Shane, do you still get out to the river and prospect?
If so, was wondering if you would be interested in testing / reviewing my 3' River Bed Hog Green Mountain Gold Trap Patent Number US 11,273,452
Dan Hurd did a review for my 23" Pay Streak Finder a year or two ago.
Nice!
