- There is a great deal of debate about chi sao. It works, it doesn't work, do it, don't do it, it should be done this way, it should be done that way.
One of the biggest statements thrown around is that "chi sao doesn't work", and we address that in this episode. Then we give our take on this often-debated drill.
Yes, we have our opinions. They are expert opinions formed from our years of training. Yes you are free to express your opinion. In fact, we would love to hear from you. My chi sao doesnt work. My coaches always seemed to work just fine though especially when I was on the receiving end 😂
🤣Yeah, that happens. Hopefully, they will go back and guide you through the movements and help you learn them.
Sifu Ledlow doesn't understand why using a palm (TokSao) instead of a FookSao is not only wrong but ruins the entire drill....
It's a jut sao.
Did you listen to everything we said in the podcast? You can use the drill to cultivate differently. As I've said several times. I do the JKD version. The chi sao drill, like everything else, was modified by Bruce to fit into a different mental approach. As we also mentioned, when you move into the higher levels of play in this drill it becomes something else.
Here is a video of two Wing Chun people doing chi sao. Both use the jut sao in drill. But maybe they're doing it wrong too!!!
