I have to say that it comes in God's time, not ours. 32 years ago when I was married to my first husband, he broke my heart and almost killed me and I felt exactly like this song. He brought me nothing but pain. When I thought there was nothing left for me, and I stopped looking for love, when I least expected it, God sent me my second husband who saved me from myself and 32 years later we are still married and still madly in love with one another. But the pain from the kind of relationship/breakup this song speaks of never leaves you. The lyrics just speak to me and the shame I felt when I couldn't let go of somebody who treated me like trash, used me until they left me for somebody else. I refuse to talk about that ex and my friends/family know not to ever bring them up.
