I think this may be their best song ever. It's emotional, and so eloquent. And like a commenter said, "he's aging right along with [his original fans]," so we can appreciate the evolution of his writing. From Grunge, high energy, anger at humanity's atrocities appealing to the young idealists in us, to the mellow, beautiful, hopeful songs after years of life's heartaches. Eddie Vedder is still an idealist. He's never changed even now at age 52. He's never turned bitter or cynical. He's still as passionate as he was 30 years ago... His newest music says "heal, forgive, accept, love, choose to be happy, treat others *better* than you would want to be treated, and life is what you make it."
I had to look that up. Yeah, he's a year older than me and the same height. Wow! Not that it's anything to do with great music, and I agree that this is one of their very best. Pearl Jam is an enigma, Eddie is an enigma. Nothing in the world beats great music.
WITHOUT fail this song still cuts deep after losing my son & daughter. It cuts deep but brings comfort somehow. If it weren't for my better half, I don't think I could have made it this far without my babies. Thanks for sharing this live version because although this song makes me emotional, it's still my favorite Pear Jam song ever!!!!!!!! ❤
Guitarist Mike McCready said "I was at Roger Waters concert and was completely blown away by The Wall, I wanted to write something that would have a Pink Floyd type feel"
I'm from Russia. And the Pearl Jam songs are what I put on when I was feeling bad. They lifted my spirits-and helped me to recover. Thank you guys -for what you are!
He is one of the most underrated guitarists. He creates atmospheres with his playing - super melodic. Also very giving to the song - never letting ego overshadow.
I don't know how Ed can write lyrics that can say exactly what I want to say, except much more eloquently. The empathy is so prevalent, the depth of feeling he must have.. And he's aging right along with me so the songs stay relevant. "I danced in laughter with the ever after" is exactly me, so reckless, and now I have someone I love so deeply that I'm so glad I'm still here. This was the first song we played after we got married. Makes me cry every time. I wish all of you the best as you carry on with your lives, as he said at the beginning of this video, we're all friends.
Today is first time I hear this song as a retired human being. My girlfriend introduced me to this band in 1991 and I've been hooked since, I love this band and for 32 years they kept me company on my 29 mile commute Ventura to Santa Barbara on my baby, a 59 knuckle head blasting their music in my ear pieces as I waved thru traffic feeling my bike under me I totally felt free in those moments☺️. This is the next chapter in my aging life as I'm 61 now and that girlfriend way back is my wife of 31 years and 5 daughter's later I feel like has treated me well and I feel a gratitude I've never felt. Thank you pearl jam for being in this crazy adventurous life I live with my high school sweetheart. Not half bad life ☺️. Here's to the next 32 babe and thank you for making my life all that much better. Love you more each day and I'm grateful I get to fall in love with you everyday I wake. Yep I'm a retired human being who plans to surf a lot more and blast my pearl jam each and everyday. One love♥️
I hope all your plans will go smoothly. I enjoyed your comment. Having lived both in Ventura and Santa Barbara I know you had a gorgeous drive. Be safe.🤘✌️
step 1: get baked step 2: get snacks step 3: get headphones step 4: put this song on in a dark room step 4: turn it up step 5: have a good fucking time
I've never been a Pearl Jam fan but have to say this is one of the best written and performed songs ever. This is never going to age ... just get better methinks. Epic vocal from Eddie.
Hear the sirens Hear the sirens Hear the sirens Hear the circus so profound I hear the sirens More and more in this here town Let me catch my breath to breathe And reach across the bed Just to know we're safe I am a grateful man The slightest bit of light And I can see you clear Have to take your hand And feel your breath For fear this someday will be over I pull you close, so much to lose Knowing that nothing lasts forever I didn't care, before you were here I danced in laughter with the ever after But all things change Let this remain Hear the sirens Covering distance in the night The sound echoing closer Will they come for me next time For every choice mistake I've made It's not my plan Or to send you in the arms of Another man And if you choose to stay I'll wait I'll understand It's a fragile thing This life we lead If I think too much I can get Over-whelmed by the grace By which we live our lives With death over our shoulders Want you to know That should I go I always loved you Held you high above, true I study your face And the fear goes away It's a fragile thing This life we lead If I think too much I can get over- Whelmed by the grace By which we live our lives With death over our shoulder Want you to know That should I go I always loved you Held you high above, true I study your face And the fear goes away The fear goes away The fear goes away The fear goes away Aah ah, oh oh Aah ah, oh oh Aah ah, oh oh Aah ah, oh oh Aah ah, oh oh
used to play this song for my daughter when she was in utero. When i'm in the depth of my chronic depression and she falls asleep on me, i remember these lyrics.
Perfection. The song, the setting, the lights, the band. Everything is just in line. Can't imagine the overwhelming emotions, to be there and listen to it with the person you love.
Best PJ song ever. Lyrics are an inspiration he received, an intuition that came from above through him. Moreover, it is surely what many of us have experienced in this existance. Thanks, Eddie!
This song for me is something that takes me to feel, to remember unforgettable moments, where I lose track of time, reality, is missing what you haven't had yet, is remembering what you can't yet, this is magical, I must assume that these types of feelings are the same that musicians, composers, interpreters, etc. must feel! I have a beautiful family, 4 wonderful children, they are the most beautiful thing that can descend from my existence, but I can say that I love you and I miss you wherever you are, we haven't met yet, we haven't met yet, I don't know if it will be in this one or another, but I know that you are there somewhere.. SIRENS
I remember walking about 5 miles one way to the mall to buy "Ten" in 9th grade when it was still new... I never would have imagined back then how much Pearl Jam and I would both change and how we'd still be together after all these years.
Absolutely incredible! The passion that Eddie and Mike, and frankly the whole band show in this performance is amazing! Other people have said it, but I would be remiss if I didn't say how strong vocally Eddie was in this show. Thank you Pearl Jam for everything you have done for music!

Hear the singer, hear the singer, from this band!!!!!! that is Pearl Jam !!!!! Uuuuuuuu are great and what an excellent way to interpret each composition hey Vedder you are unique
Gonzalo Martin Ramos Yes that's it, actually when I was saying "didn't change" I was mainly talking about the fact that he doesn't almost make any false notes and that his voice is quite clean now compared to some other artists
@@GonzaloMartinRamos I know exactly what you mean. Most people can't reach high notes or sustain distortion at this point but I feel like although his voice has aged, he still doesn't struggle to get up there

I'm so sorry for your loss.. I cant even imagine your pain. 😪
I’m so sorry for your loss. May God bless you and keep you safe!
I thank you for sharing, and for Pearl Jam for writing such beautiful songs for us to heal to. I'm sorry for your loss ♥️
I am so very sorry for your loss and will keep you and your better half in my prayers. You will see them again. I promise.
My heart goes out to you. I can't imagine the pain and longing. Bless you
I love how Eddie goes from saying drunken gibberish in the beginning to singing the most perfect version of Sirens live
I don't see that as drunken gibberish at all!
No one sings with more passion than Eddie Vedder.
No one comments with more passion than Miguel Luzuriaga

Chris Cornell was very passionate.

Agreed, but gotta admit Stone on guitar 2 crushes this track!

With death over our shoulders...

Hear the sirens
Hear the sirens
Hear the sirens
Hear the circus so profound
I hear the sirens
More and more in this here town
Let me catch my breath to breathe
And reach across the bed
Just to know we're safe
I am a grateful man
The slightest bit of light
And I can see you clear
Have to take your hand
And feel your breath
For fear this someday will be over
I pull you close, so much to lose
Knowing that nothing lasts forever
I didn't care, before you were here
I danced in laughter with the ever after
But all things change
Let this remain
Hear the sirens
Covering distance in the night
The sound echoing closer
Will they come for me next time
For every choice mistake I've made
It's not my plan
Or to send you in the arms of
Another man
And if you choose to stay I'll wait
I'll understand
It's a fragile thing
This life we lead
If I think too much I can get
Over-whelmed by the grace
By which we live our lives
With death over our shoulders
Want you to know
That should I go I always loved you
Held you high above, true
I study your face
And the fear goes away
It's a fragile thing
This life we lead
If I think too much I can get over-
Whelmed by the grace
By which we live our lives
With death over our shoulder
Want you to know
That should I go I always loved you
Held you high above, true
I study your face
And the fear goes away
The fear goes away
The fear goes away
The fear goes away
