Bob Dandridge: One of the Most Complete Players Ever

  • Bob Dandridge didn’t have many holes in his game. He had so many ways to score, whether it be a post fade, a one legged runner in the lane, or a leaning midrange out of the triple threat, then he would lock down the opponent’s best player on the other end. He was a great rebounder for his position and he could bring the ball down the court and find open teammates . Bob was drafted out of Norfolk State by a loaded Bucks team who had Kareem, the best young center in the league, as they would trade for Oscar Robertson in 1970. Bob was an All-Star level player in Milwaukee for several years, even helping them win a title in 1971. After he left the Bucks, he signed with the Bullets and continued his stellar production, playing the best basketball of his career and helping them win a title in 1978. Bob finally got his recognition as one of the best forwards ever, when he finally got into the Hall of Fame after 40 years in 2021. I think it’s only right that we look at the legendary career of the Greyhound.

Dandridge was a great player. It should have never taken until 2021 to get into the HOF. He stats compare favorably with other players who made it earlier.
Bobby D neutralized Dr. J in 78 playoffs. Bullets won in 6 over the 76ers and went on to win the NBA title.

Hi Peezy, that was a great video on a great player. If you haven’t done a video on Oscar Robertson, I highly recommend it because he was truly unique averaging a triple double for several seasons and was a matchup nightmare versus the guards during his playing days. By the way, I was nine years old at this time and I can vividly recall listening to a Knicks- Royals game on the radio, and BobCousy inserted himself in the game as he was a player coach and actually scored a basket and provided an assist. Something I’ll never forget because I never got to see him play his prime. At the time he was 40 years old. Which was really old for a basketball player in the pros.

I'm watching this and thinking about Kevin Porter who played for the Bullets early in his career and led the league in assists multiple times. You should do a video on him. I'd like to see it.

    I am from Philly.
And what I remember about bobby dandrige Now I love me some Doctor j Julius Irving.
But Defense was not one Of his strong points And I have to say it every time they Faced one another Bobby Used to light him up like a Christmas true. He is One of those n b a players who you have to be a real Student of basketball and the NBA to appreciate how good he was.

I hated that the first time the Bucks played the Kings in Omaha in 1973, Bob was injured and didn't make the trip. Kings won by 2. Kareem was my guy, but I always thought Bob's game was solid.

Sooooo many forgotten players. These guys had to combine athletics with the rules. Note, Norfolk State! These guys were hungry and not entitled. I don't want to be long winded. For instance, how do one judge Kobe's 81 over Baylor's 71 with no three's?
