Smart move upgrading bonus loot. It will give a big bonus at the begining of each area. Don't forget about the campfire though, it not only improves stamina regeneration, but also imrpoves max stamina. And considering food restores your stamina by percentage instead of absolute value, high max stamina is really helpful thing to have c:
