    Great walkthrough. Glad to see it as I was interested i more detail after seeing it briefly in a previous video. Only thing else I'd like to have been included is overall cost of this particular setup. It helps people get an idea of what they're looking at if they want to go this route.

    Another thing, for bigger churches, it would almost be worth it to have whole separate scene for ears to essentially create a completely separate mix for how musicians would want it to sound in their ears. As well as to have another completely separate mix going to broadcast and not just matrices or subgroups. Would this require 2 additional units? Just another stagebox? Or could you be running two separate scenes on separate computers on the same server?

    • @Bobby_Uterus
      @Bobby_Uterus 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why would you not want to use matrices or subgroups /mix buses post fader/Eq/processing?

    • @JackOwensMusic
      @JackOwensMusic 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Bobby_Uterus you could essentially create an entirely different mix for listeners on their phone/tv/livestream and possibly even use different sets of plugins to account for the sonic differences in the room. Granted, it would take more time, but for bigger churches where convenience isn’t really needed, it could give their livestream that extra umph, even if it’s a small difference

    • @Bobby_Uterus
      @Bobby_Uterus 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JackOwensMusic Seems like not a lot of bang for the buck. Most of what you’re talking about is possible using sub groups / mix buses. If you really wanted to do it your way cheaper and simpler, you could run Dante to as many computers as you wanted, running whatever recording DAW you want to add realtime processing to a broadcast.

    • @JackOwensMusic
      @JackOwensMusic 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Bobby_Uterus I was about to mention that. First and foremost, budget usually isn’t a concern at larger churches. But yes, Dante to studio one/abelton/logic would be far cheaper. Then just delay the camera feed to the audio since that’s probably introducing quite a bit of latency

    Just using superrack instead of changing your entire console only for the sake of using waves plugins is a much better use of resources unless you just have tens of thousands of dollars to blow. We have been using waves stuff for years and wondering when church “tech leaders” would figure out how good it is. It’s absolutely the way to go for making amateur volunteer teams sounding nearly professional.

      I’d agree with this if you’re someone who doesn’t update your systems. But if you like to update to the newest computers/software/etc you’ll end up having to pay for their update plan anyway and then the subscription is a better way to go.

      @@mattwoltjer4376 I can get behind that. I will say though, if you’re an engineer and you know exactly which plugins you like and don’t stray far from it, after a year or two, by buying the licenses you’ve definitely saved some cash

    Personally I've been trying to decide if a traditional digital mixer + waves is the way to go or full LV1. The mixer is cool and all, and i primarily use waves plugins but there has to be a reason other consoles are still sworn by.

    I like waves but I must say I’m not sold. It may be reliable on a Sunday Service today but long term with the software is a bit risky. Also you basically buy hardware to then either buying just a couple plugins lifetime or a yearly subscription which will make your hardware useless if you don’t continue to pay? 🤔
    The price for value in an average church where you only get a new budget every 15 years at best, I’m a bit skeptical. Thank you for showing it though 👍🏻

    • @igorzavalnyi5341
      @igorzavalnyi5341 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      all digital mixers are computers running software. I recently had Allen&Heath SQ7 freeze during live performance, and my friend had a similar issue with Avantis. My Waves system has never frozen on my so far.
      As for plugins, you don't have to keep paying. You can buy the ones you need once and keep using them for years. You need to pay if you're using the subscribtion or want to keep upgrading your plugins.

    • @RionPhotography

      Every 15 years? That’s crazy lol

    • @Gj8355r
      @Gj8355r 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Maybe, however it’s all an integrated PC rack server system. If there’s an issue with a system or the whole rack, the rack server is the brain essentially. it’s dead in the water should it go south.
      Have a standalone system where swapping out the mixer should it goes down, allows for better isolated redudancy backups.

    "The day all brand companies figure out how to achieve 100 percent integration of software with hardware, like what Dlive has done with onboard autotune for their mixers, will be a game changer. These mixers will become as desirable as Apple gadgets with every new series.
    With software companies, you're always on your toes when they release upgrades. You're constantly wondering if you can get the new version or if what you have might become discontinued. I hope that makes sense."

      @@igorzavalnyi5341 I completely understand what the system is for. Just seems a little overkill for church. The only people that will actually be able to tell the difference between this set up and those cheaper units you mentioned are other sound tech. But hey, I guess if the church has nothing better to spend 20 grand on then why not? That room also seems pretty small. It probably doesn’t even need much sound reinforcement.

    • @igorzavalnyi5341
      @igorzavalnyi5341 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Bobby_Uterus I don't think I can fully agree with you. If you have at least one person who understands what they are doing with the LV1, they can create a more error-proof mix for their church than on a regular digital console. LV1 offers incredible plugins that automate some things that you have to be very specific about when using a stand alone mixer. For example, RBass makes the low end very consistent and it's hard to ruin the sound if someone changes the compressor or eq settings. Limiters, dynamic eqs and compressors can help you create settings that will produce good enough output regardless of who's performing and mixing. And LV1 setup doesn't have to cost 20k, you can actually add it to your existing mixer and stageboxes for way less.

    • @Bobby_Uterus
      @Bobby_Uterus 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@igorzavalnyi5341 Sounds to me like you’re expecting this unit to be a turd polisher. If it doesn’t sound good at the source without all that fancy processing, it’s not going to sound any better with it. You can’t expect to use a unit like this to fix a crummy performance with processing. People have got along fine for years without all the plugin processing. A lot of these plugins are trying to take the actual skill of mixing sound out of the equation. Typically with less than desirable results compared to someone that actually knows how to mix, starting with good sound at the source and minimal EQ. You’re not learning a whole lot by slapping a whole bunch of plug-ins on channels in my opinion.
