Absolutely fantastic, I did 22 years in Uniform (Royal Engineers) and spent a bit of time on parades and the skill on display is outstanding , loads of different units (from different countries) marching in step (yes I know they will have practiced) But here's a few snippets that a lot wont know. Marching to Music (especially) a drum beat is easy, but the pipers are playing music and so cant really listen to the music and so have to use memory to march , then look at the terrain its a cobbled road, a lot of those boots will be hobnailed meaning slippery going , but the part that impressed me the most of the skill on display was the right wheel, because the outside men have to move faster in which to keep in line and in step. Amazing stuff and why I love watching Military displays such as this.
I just love this part when the massed Pipe Bands come out into the streets of Edinburgh and the wonderful sound is amplified. The Black Bear is my favourite, I love it!
the black bear and Scotland the brave!!! played by drummers and pipers!!!! 😀 doesn't get any better than that!!!!!!! and if that doesn't give you goosebumps I don't know what will!!!
Had the fortune to watch the tattoo live when it was here in Sydney in both 2011 and 2019 and on both occasions I really loved the atmosphere it presented. I grew up watching the tattoo on tv, never thought I’d get to see it live in my home country
As someone who's played pipes in the Tattoo, the march off down the Royal Mile was a highlight. Just spine-tingling the first time you do it with the sound ricocheting off the cobbles and stone buildings as you march away from that ancient castle. Bagpiping Nirvana. Hoping to do it again next year.
@@nathanjoerndt8804 I played in the Edinburgh Tattoo in 2019. I also played in the Basel Tattoo (second biggest after Edinburgh) in 2022 and 2023 (i.e. just a couple weeks ago). I've done a few smaller one-day Tattoos in Canada over the years too. Edinburgh was definitely the most fun... but also the most work.
its kinda weird cuz im born and raised in the northern sweden but always felt like a scot! if i could i would have moved there a long time ago:) i just want to be in scotland countryside or edinburgh
Great stuff .but its all change this year after decades now only 6 across instead of 12 not the same impact or look .get it back to at least 12 too my h&" s interference

Just Imagine two hundred Scots men kilts kilts a flapping coming at you through the smoke of battle with the pipes playing very scary
Frightens me! 😂
Affix bayonets laddie! Freedom forever!
@usmctate away the lads !
Drum major Greg Turkich Australian Federal Police Leads The MAssed Pipes & Drums
He looks like a fat Darth Vader.
Ah, l'Ecosse...
Un pays accueillant et des gens vraiment chaleureux 😌
Autre chose que mon petit pays qui n'offre que saucisson, fromage et bière 😉
Imagine hearing and seeing this coming at you through the smoke of battle 💩💩💩💩ing time
Iam Scottish all my life my mum was there same
Do you reckon every piper and drummer their would know Scotland the Brave and the Black Bear in their sleep?
I love my hame land
On the third drum beat, that yell should rival the Irish Regiments' YO!........I never does.
well, the irish regiments adopted it from the scottish regiments "hoi". yo,s an american abbreviation of the german word "jawvoll"
This means the world,d to me scotlandis my hame
Who is that leading the pipes and drums? Only the drum major from one of the Scottish Regiments of the British Army should be leading that formation.
I think the Drum major Greg Turkich from The Australian Federal Police Pipes & Drums from Canberra
@@robzap19nintendosteampictures yeah I'm from Australia and I'm pretty certain thats an AFP drum major - I've seen him a few times
@@rileym4541 its bang out of order. He's almost certainly the descendent of an English criminal deported to fly swatter land several centuries ago.
Will we get an explanation for that?
