I am Vietnamese I read Chinese history since my high school years suggested by my father. I like Chinese culture but I honestly think Chinese communists destroys thousand year old Chinese culture. A small example of modern Chinese history, when Vietnam was under French rule and China was fighting Western colonialists, a young Vietnamese revolutionary name Pham Hong Thai tried to assassinate French Indochina governor Martial Merlin at Victoria hotel belonging to English sector. He failed. Pursued by police he threw himself on the Châu Giang ( 珠江, ) river. It was in 1924.
Chinese revolutionaries located his body and even built his solemn grave to show respect of his patriotism. His grave is now still in Guangzhou, southern China.

Eastern Germany under Soviet occupation is a great example of that. With 16,4 million people population they had 260 thousand agents working for secret police service and they had files on 5,6 million people. So one agent was looking after approx 20 people, kept track of them, reported on their activities, investigated their private lives and activities. A third of population was under constant survivalence.

Regardless of the tuition, China has been forcing assimilation through fear and indoctrinating for decades. not a viable conclusion. if the country is a functioning liberal democracy (not the US) there is no reason to assume their youth gets indoctrinated. on the contrary, they learn to embrace human rights and their civil liberties including how to think independently. critical thinking is central for a country who wants responsible citizens. e.g. in the US the public education system is poorly funded and fails in doing so. narrow-minded dumbasses are produced en masse without the ability to detect blatant lies from politicians.

When I visited Germany, I had a conversation with a Chinese guy studying in a German university.
Even though he can do everything and say everything he wants, even though he lives a way better life by studying in Germany and having a really high-paying part-time job there (compared to what he would be paid in China), he still believes that China is a better country and the communist regime is superior.
We also had a conversation about why he thinks other people view China in a negative light. His response was pretty simple: Western propaganda.
While that can be the case in some instances, since countries like the US would greatly benefit from weakening China, he was unwilling to accept that sometimes, the Western media could be right and China can make mistakes.
He also didn't believe that propaganda exists in his country. He told me that if he can't fall for propaganda and even if China was to spread propaganda, it would be for the greater good.
I was surprised by one thing though: he told me nothing is truly "banned" in his country since most young people would use VPN and pirate Western media from Chinese sites that the CCP won't crack down on. I wasn't surprised by that, since my country does the same (even our prime minister mentioned how he downloads files from a Bulgarian piracy site), it was the fact that they know what a VPN is and they won't get in trouble for using one.
Places like North Korea banned VPNs, so I always assumed China did too (he even made a joke about China not being North Korea).
Although I knew that there's propaganda in China, I never knew how bad it was until I talked to an actual victim of brainwashing.
We had a lengthy conversation (most of it about table tennis, food, and our future) and ne never struck me as a liar. He genuinely believed what he was saying.
I wish him the best. He was really smart, so I hope he succeeds in life. It's just sad to see an intelligent young man being a victim of brainwashing since his birth.
Same goes for all Chinese and Macedonians: you're not a dumb nation for believing the propaganda. You were lied to from your childhood, so it's understandable that you will hate me and won't share the same opinions as me. Read, travel, talk to people and try to learn from all of that. Open your mind to different opinions and perspectives and when you find out you were wrong, don't be ashamed to admit it. We learn our entire life, contradictions in our point of view are bound to appear, so embrace them rather than shutting them down.

He must be fairly young, you have to understand that we were bombarded with political propagandas since 7/8 years old in China. A lot of nationalism in the education. Some people are more naive than others when it comes to things like this, some might came to a realization at later stage of life, I know I did when i was in college. For him, who knows, but most educated adults I know don’t buy these BS. People are more concerned with their own families and personal development.

I think it's not entirely brainwashing, it is also values and history.
      1. Westerners seem to have a hard time accepting that there are people who don't value freedom and individuality as much as they do. Like you mentioned, Asian societies value "greater goods" more. Also see the relationship of government x people differently from that of the west. In Asia, the government is the parent/father, the society is the children. It is expected for a parent to tell what the children must do, but they must do it with the best intentions at heart. It's Confucianism.
      2. China used to be the leading society for cultures, science, and technology for thousands of years, until The West put them on their knees using opium. Chinese calls this "a hundred years of humiliation". Hence their resentment towards the west, and their ambitions to do things their own way, not the western way.

Right ! Lol people thinking its the case are stupid . They need to Read the book about marxism! In Canada we learn about those in philosophy and also how capitalism is destroying our society .

As a Chinese myself, China is definitely far from perfect, but it also more definitely has a lot if good sides. I was born and raised in a different country because my parents left it and we went back to visit when I was young, but I might go back in the future sometime and actually visit it again now that im wonder

i never been to china or anything but from what i seen their culture goes hard. i got too much beef with the ccp to visit, they would see me as a terrorist cause i been reppin hong kong and taiwan, i know i would barely last a day if i even make it off the plane. im sad about that cause its such a cool country and a trip would be so much fun
