The way that you are doing it is the way that they did before the machines. I saw some of the pros if the tip doesn't cut they just grind it off. You did a good job.
Great work, I sharpen similar to you except I work the bevel before adjusting the ride line; this is so I can remove the burr while adjusting the ride to save metal on the shear.
I was thinking to try that too. I was looking at Bonika shears channel and for now I have follow here recomandations. I will try in my next movie your method.
Im really not trying to promote my sharpening videos, Just wanted to add that free hand sharpening done by a experienced sharpener can work very well, but you really can not beat a guide for accuracy and consistency.
I agree with you 100%. A guide gives you consistent results every time. Like I have told you I am working on a guided system too but these days I don't have any time for it.
@@DanielWorkshop I hear ya ! Love to tinker around with making things, but takes time, and never enough of that. ! Keep up the videos Danial. They are Honest and very informative

@@coopart1 Love your vids Jeff, you inspired me to build one of your systems, I have the plans just waiting on shipping.
Where do you get the special key for taking the shear apart?
It's called a ufo key for scissors. Just google it. 🙂
5000 / 8000 stone ?
Fantastic
Where did you get these stones from and buffing
The stone I bought it second hand. The strop I made it myself.
You can find episode 1 here: th-cam.com/video/1nLH5hPH81Q/w-d-xo.html
The VIDEO is TOO LONG. I think only few people can watch this up to the very end
I have tried with other movies to make them shorter but after it is not easy to understand the process.
