I wrote this in a reply, but here's my rambling story on how to do it, for anyone wanting to try - It's more so what you do with your leg and keeping your head down. I'm old, but I played Aussie Rules for QLD back in the day. I discovered I could do this technique when I played Touch Rugby League (TRL) in my early 30s. In TRL, the restart is just a kick-off from standing, not off a tee. I would bomb the shit out of the ball in an AFL torpedo hold like he does, but when you keep your head down, and pump/sweep your leg straight up on the follow through, the ball goes insanely high.... and with the right torpedo/spiral/barrel spin..... it hangs in the air and then starts swirling like crazy on the way down, because the ball is swirling but pointing straight down. In the three seasons I played TRL, I think the opponents caught my kick-offs four times in total. 😅😅 When your opponents don't catch it on the full, your team gets the ball back. It was a real weapon. We won one grand final and lost another one. I was just okay as a player by that age, but this kick was insanely effective.
I think you have to point your toes out, that is what works for me on all kicks for best power and on torpedos it gives me height and spin, I thought that it looked like he was doing this with his foot, but I’m no kicking professional

As he kicks u dont think it has gone very high until u see it has exited the upper atmosphere
My question is, what is he doing with his foot? Is he clenching it on contact, like a fist would do in a punch?
