I am playing in a german bugle band and we had a few times the pleasure to play with the guys parade of the neusser bürger schützenfest for many years...I wish they were here again on every last sunday in august. Absolutly great musicians.
Just found this on TH-cam.I ran Field Gun in for 1985 at Earls Court, “High on a hill” was the background the music during our warm up prior to our run. The song brings back so many happy memories. Thanks for the upload. 👍
I was there! As part of a band on tour from Canada, this was one of our highlights. I remember being impressed that they were playing the 'French National Defile March' or 'Sambre et Meuse' because my band was playing it at the time!
i remember watching this on tv. max bygraves! a name to be thinking about. i was waiting for a song, then it suddenly dawned on me, we got a symphony. its the "famous" max bygraves we are talking about here. bugle-major max bygraves, the light division. still making me happy. good luck max.
my old man was ben lyons great to see him in all his pomp , never a day goes by i dont miss the old man r.i.p dad you earned your rest sleep peaceful your very proud son kenny.
Hi Kenny.. I remember your dad very well. He was one of my training corporals in the Rifle Deport in Winchester when I as in the Bugle section.. He was a character.. Sorry to hear he has passed on . RIP Ben..
Oh but you can :). The RGJ & the LI may have been merged into "The Rifles" Along with sevral heavy infantry Regiments such as the Glosters , Devon & Dorsets , Duke of Edinburghs, etc. But there still is a light bugle band in the British Army. Granted, its a shame they won,t be able to play en-masse again tho :(.
Hi Woodcakes. We think we got your drift. I would'nt say we were fit or unfit. But I remember sweating buckets after each display. It used to even worse doing a display out in the sun. Compare it to 20 mins in a sauna ( Pissing Sweat )
you dont say if you were a bandsman or in the battalion..i saw sounding retreat on horse guards in 1974...the bands/bugles were led by bugle major colin green i believe. i was only 14, it was awesome to see.m@rty
I was a bugler at this event.. The last thing I took part in before I left.. Great Days.. Sadly missed. The commentator is wrong by the way.. We were doing around 160-170 paces per min not 140
No argument from me shady.. Colin was my Bugle Major in Winchester when I was a Junior Bugler and also when I was in the Burma Band and Bugles in Durham. Any idea if he's still around ?.. I moved away 23years ago and have lost touch with everyone from the Burma Band and Bugles.
