I'm 11/11 starting maneuver training this week. The MzeroA videos on turns on a point, S turns and, rectangular patters are great. Watching those and getting prepared to fly. Keep the blue side up.

Never really thought of the airspeed indicator as a altimeter but makes sense
I was always taught PUDSUC
pitoe blockage underreads on descent, static blockage underreads on climb in terms of the airspeed indicator.

I have an older Cherokee does not have alternate static port so therefore the glass will be coming out of my VSI ; although I am fortunate to fly with ForeFlight on my mini iPad with synthetic vision along with a transponder that reports pressure altitude. And yes like you stated, a few extra independent systems are always helpful. If not then a good understanding of the pitot static system is always welcomed.

The Pitot Static simulator alone is worth it
I've learned when both holes clogged on the pitot tube are clogged acts like an altimeter. 11 for 11

Why aren’t the backups for pitot in GA?
So if everything is clogged, break the glass of the vertical speed indicator gauge to let air enter the port for the altimeter ? mmh didnt think of it

At the moment ram and drain is plugged, airspeed will freeze. But increase as altitude increases and decrease as altitude decreases. Correct?
We have alternate static source, is there a reason why we don't have backup pitot tubes?

If the air RAM hole & drain hole is clogged, and these 3 instruments (ASI, VSI & Altimeter) are reading incorrect info., how do you reverse that in mid flight (...& your panel is a std 6 pack & not glass)?

What happens if the drain hole is clogged on the pitot but the static and pitot front is not clogged.

Prior to watching let me see if I remember Static clogged- VSI & Altimeter goto 0
PITO ram air blocked -airspeed 0
Ram air & drain - airspeed registers as an Altimeter

Does this mean you need more than 1 pitot tube ?
The backup instruments need a reading from another source ... no? 🧐
