    I appreciate that you are respecting the architecture, etc., of the building. So many suggestions in the forums and church tech Facebook groups would say paint everything black and start hanging bars/truss and completely lose the character and beauty of the space. You're doing it right!

    That was a fantastic video and terrific theory and summary from Pro Church Lights. Our traditional space just received a small installment that has not delivered the performance expected because the strategy was not clearly communicated. A clear vision from leadership is critical, identify what is not working, what should be addressed first and a look at to future improvements. Think about all the special events that happen throughout the year in your space and how can the new design add to those events. How can the new design help the congregation focus on worship/teaching without distractions. Thank you again.

    The dimmer pack is pretty old but at least you have ability to preset some scenes. Our lights are at least 50 years old and some maybe original to the building (70+ years). We have a master box in the basement with the dimmer packs that do the heavy lifting that are wired via low voltage leads to I think 6 manual zone dimmers plus a Master dimmer in our “crows nest” … all controlled with dimmers similar to that in your home.

    Helpful to hear the what and the why. I also am at a church with a more "traditional" aesthetic that in some ways is the opposite of this one: it's longer than wide, and natural color is darker (walls, floors etc). Ready to see more of the final product in this church!

    I would put Can downlights in that sofit for the new "Rock wall treatment" - can be direct DMX or DMX dimmer pack. Direct DMX better provides better fixture control! And as my Lighting Director friends say - "where does light come from? Never from the floor"! Up lights should always be the Last option in Architectural lighting.

    Also curious to hear options for dmx control and dimming of house lights. Imagine a bank of regular light switches are in place. What ways can fixtures be dimmed and integrated into dmx without having actual dmx fixtures?

    Is there a benefit with going with a DMX distro over using multiple SACN/ArtNet nodes and running cat6?

    Does the green fabric have any acoustic function? Painting it will change that and likely not for good.

    Thanks for this video! Im serving a congregation in Cocoa Beach and we need to update lighting from the original 1960s stuff. Can you share the electrician you used if you are in Melbourne? Thanks!

      We've reached out to Pro Church Lights but could use help with finding an electrician willing to do the work. Thanks!

    Is there a way to control old dimmer lights like that with DMX?

    • @steve01010
      @steve01010 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It all depends on the system that's in place. If the dimmers offer no way of external control (like DMX or 0-10v) then it's very difficult. You can always reach out to the manufacturer and see what they recommend. In this case, it looks like these are old Lehigh dimmers and their tech support could provide some answers. If there is no external control option, then you either have to replace the dimmers or retrofit the fixtures with new DMX controlled house lights. Retrofitting is not a bad option since there is already power going to each light.

      @@steve01010 I'll have to take a look at the system that is there. It is for my wife's schools production. They have about 12 front wash lights that are on dimmers controller by a controller at the back of the room. I'm trying to find a way to integrate coloured dmx controlled lights as well but have them all controlled by the same controller.

    Ummm, really???? KICK LIGHTING? Do you guys just make up words? You use words that alienate people and you lose them at the beginning - Just callout what it is, BACK LIGHT! If you are going to use terminology like that at least explain it for us dummies!
