I was about to purge my two copies of Saturday Night Fever when this guy who just got on my bus said," You know I didn't always work in the County Administration Building 🏫. I used to be the lead singer of The Tramps. I replied, you mean like Disco Inferno? He answered, Yea, and a whole lot more! So, I held onto both copies. As far as Rod Stewart is concerned: (1) Never A Dull Moment (2) Every Picture Tells A Story (3) Gasoline Alley But I also really like A Night On The Town, Foot Loose And Fancy 🆓, and Blondes Have More Fun. But I'm partial. I walked into The Blue 🐦 Parrot bar on Prospect in La Jolla and asked this voluptuous woman if she did nails. Bill Wyman was standing next to her and asked me, Why did you ask her that? I ignored him and walked up to the bar. The bartender asked me, Do you like Rod Stewart? I said, Sure. He said, You want to hand him this Manhattan? I handed it to Rod and Rod said, Thanks Mate.
Good process to go through. Purging your collection every now and then is a very healthy and refreshing thing to do....and creates a few bucks to buy new stuff lol ;)
Shout out to Belleville! I grew up just up the road from you in the city of the 1000 Islands...Brockville! I always have a reject pile going, and usually every 6 months or so I am bringing them to my favorite shop in Boston to trade for store credit. It comes down to a shelf space issue for me. If I'm not listening to it, it's time to part ways.

Unfortunately, I have found myself looking for albums and CDs that I thought that I had, looked on my inventory after not seeing them in my collection, and was surprised that they just weren't there. Lamentable re-purchasing! However, you appear quite deliberate about your decisions with much better albums to put in place. I am sure that you will be happy! An interesting Purge Especially the Rod Stewart was because Atlantic crossing through footloose and fancy 3 are a trifecta of just great rock and roll. Session musicians he had with him then were just something else some of the best heavy hitters around and some of my favorite Rockin Rod albums
Funny, I just picked up that Gary Numan "Dance" for cheap. I haven't heard it in years and had a hanckering. A very chill record. Have it on CD. I found that Rod Stewart "Footloose & Fancy Free" in a dollar bin other day. After one play, purge! Going in the donate box. I raided the dollar bins at some local stores just to see and give stuff a chance like Schlager, country, disco or rock. I'm not going to resell, I just donate to Goodwill thrift stores. You will get that back 10 fold in the future, trust me.
The first four Rod Stewart are all good. The Wall Of Voodoo and 10,000 Maniacs would stay in my collection. I purged a lot a few years back and honestly I need to again.
Good luck with the purging. I get the theory, but still find it hard to let go of excess. I'm a bit of a pack rat, I suppose. Some quality stuff you have there, you can trade or sell and buy some replacement records that you will enjoy more. Take care!!!

I definitely understand the need for purging from time to time. Right now, I'm just looking to beef up my collection as much as possible because of an unwanted purge I had to do a few years back. Most of those you are purging I would agree with personally except for maybe Gary Numan, New Order, Van Halen, and especially Yello (I'm a big Yello fan and I'm missing that one). But, if you don't care for them or don't listen to them, it's totally understandable.

be very careful what you get rid of i did this a few years back and got rid of nearly 400 cds of stuff i didnt listen to any more and have regretted it ever since , stuff that you just dont see any more, just becuase you dont listen to it in the last couple of years, i still beat myself up about this all the time

I couldn't purge my shittiest album that I will never listen to and I have over 30,000 Lps - not to mention the singles and 78s. Just not in my DNA. What you're doing is very sensible. I'm unable to be sensible when it comes to vinyl. They're members of my family.
