Judo 900 and skated with Tony Hawk! Legendary!
This year the vert and mega park X Games were on another level, judging was on point, all top 3 could get the gold medal and would make sense but Gui landed first try and very clean an NBD so props to him and all the others vert skaters, they were ripping
I think the vert contest was so much better because they had one of the largest crowds in recent history. all the dudes were going for broke!
Brandon Graham is a rad guy. I hope they continue to have him host. He's just a normal dude--he's not overbearingly "extreme" or douchey, and that is extremely rare in entertainment. He deserves a lot of credit for the vibe of the new X Games.
You must have never heard his snowboarding commentary, its waaaay over the top. But I've always liked his skateboarding commentary, one of the best for sure.
@@froogleislive I haven't, but that's pretty funny! I'll have to check it out. I've only heard him do skateboarding stuff, and I think some BMX stuff, and he was great at both.

What an incredible contest! I do like that the judges are valuing NBDs higher now. The Judo 9 and the Rodeo 7 were sick, along with Moto’s ridiculous alley-oop kickflip McTwist. Vert is back!
I just watched in person over a fence. Just witnessed history and so many NBDs not to mention Tony Hawk!!
A judo 900 and barely even 6 minutes in, wowza. I'm constantly in awe of where the sport has come these days.
This was one of the most legendary vert comps of all time.

You would think Elliot Sloan would learn a new trick by now he does 720 cab heelflip every best trick contest for the last 7 years...then acts so surprised he landed it every one else are pushing the limit
Moro has been doing the same with his kickflip mctwists. They’re beautiful but I don’t think he deserves a medal every best trick contest for it. Sloan has won too many golds off that trick for sure. I’d be okay with a rule that says you cannot repeat the same trick for every best trick comp. The craziest thing is Sloan won X games Japan with that trick while Gui got 2nd or 3rd with a perfect NOLLIE 900! I was surprised the commentators weren’t going crazy because he fully popped off the nose too. Imo the hardest 900 variation landed so far but a judo 9 is right there with it

maybe they want to land that trick first for a possible medal, to do a harder trick second, Moto tried fakie 720 no grab, not sure what Sloan tried, seemed like he didnt have a plan what to do after his favorite trick, last trick attempt he tried to do it again
Was really hoping to see Gui get one more crack at that 900 + a flip trick, unreal guys are even trying such things now. And unreal how consistent Gui is on those 9s, just unbelievable. Every single X Games event was on point this summer not one failed to amaze me, absolutely cannot wait for next year (I say/feel that every year but this feels like XG of old and I am so here for that!)

Just having Tony Hawk there, taking action in this already makes it feel a million times better. No matter how he did in this, just him coming back is enough for me to give him the win.

the judo 900 was just so clean you have to give it gold imo. The other tricks were great too just a lot of sketchy landings while yeah the 900 was almost perfect

Yea it has been a struggle for the production team this year... hopefully they learn and improve, but it's gotta be tough when each rider follows the previous like machine-gun fire.

Mixed feelings about Tony skating this contest tho. As cool as it was to see the geezer goat doing some vert at 55, he's kinda just taking up time the actual competitors could have maybe used for one more attempt... or maybe he was doing all a favor giving them a little extra recover and plan time between attempts. Hard to tell from the outside.

It's cool, but yeah kury with 900 is a common thing to see in xgames now
well he won his first gold with the 1080, and this one with a judo 900 which is much harder than a regular one. if you see his vert runs u can see his other tricks too. The judges don't just give him gold for no reason 💀
When the one trick you got is something nobody else is even trying, and you can spice it up with variations and land it clean as a whistle on your first shot, well... I guess it just continues to impress judges. But I kind of agree that it's almost a cheat code anymore. He's going to have to branch out and land something else someday if he wants to make a longer career out of it. Note we saw him at least TRY some other tricks (although nowhere near landing em today, lol).
@drewt1717 I think until somebody is able to land 900s as casually as him, he's in in good shape with continually evolving the way a 900 is done.
