- Bill and Anne bought a recycled wood-product tile for their kitchen, but after just one week, the tiles begin to bow and the grout starts to crack. After numerous arguments with the installer, they call general contractor Mike Holmes who installs a proper porcelain tile floor.

These older shows should be called, "Classic Holmes Done Right!" I've seen most of these, but this one is a new one for me. Great job as always guys, great job!!😊 09/27/2023
Yeah, but thin grout lines are popular now, because they look good and are easier to keep clean. In my house, there is no problem on the first floor, because there is 16-inches of concrete foundation below. On my second floor, the joists are 12-inch lumber I-beams, spaced 12-inch on center. The sub floor is tongue and groove plywood, glued and screwed. I can jump up and down on that flor and nothing moves. Basically, on new homes, with new technology, you can do things you could not do 50 years ago (my house was built in 2001). Of course, they still have to be built right.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I've only done one grout job making sure to keep the grout the was the consistency of what it is needed to be glad I had a person who has the knowledge of how to do the grout job
Hi Mike and crew ! I just recently discovered you on TH-cam. I loved watching the show when it was a regular series and I love watching it now, Hope you guys are still keeping up the good work.
Well done
Awesome job
Thank you! Cheers!
Before I buy my house I need to get Holmes to do an inspection.
When Mike says don't leave the site, if a contractor doesn't want to be watched, they're not doing the job right.
With reasonable exceptions for when overhead danger exists. Then you get to watch from the street.
Extreme home makeover and mike should have did a build together
I thought that show turned out to be a scam? Mike is way better than them.
@@josephc.miller1395scam in some ways. They would build these fancy houses, but not get any help with taxes... first that huge of a gift is taxable plus the property tax goes way up yearly. A lot of people lost their "dream home" by not being able to pay their taxes. Heard a lot of horror stories about it from a bunch of families.
Mike would have a coronary
I prefer screws over nails because screws don't work their way out of wood!
I've seen some people SWEAR by nailing drywall over using screws. Mostly in the Southern US (at least the people I've seen argue for it).
And gluing drywall to studs is another area of dispute.
With these episodes I always wonder who is paying for the costs here......
With some renovations the entire house is almost rebuilt and I can well imagine that owners do not have the money for this and yet it is done, the costs are for the program makers or they help to cover the costs of the contractor who did the poor work. .
Would love to have this explained how these programs work with regard to the costs of the renovation.
Please explane it to us HomefulTV, Mike Holmes
Partly from the Canadian government and partly from the Holmes Foundation. At least that's what I've found when looking into some of these renovations.
It's 1/4 round, not 3/4 round.
He is talking bout the size 3/4in round.
@@GoatzombieBubba Yep. Finish carpentry is a land of lingo and special code phrases.
How come you did not use the orange underlayment for the tile?
was it available in around 2002, 20 years ago?
Just recently found Holmes’ various series of TV shows. I never did & still don’t watch these shows. They’re boring, staged, unlikeable people, unhelpful w/some over the top asshat hosting. Even back in the 00’s & 10’s when house/home shows of every type could be found. But I gotta say Mike feels genuine, actually helpful to the viewer & come to find out is actually philanthropic; spending his own money many times. Makes sense that he’s Canadian.
Looks like my hallway and bath tiles. I stub my toe a lot.
So they didn't take the cabinets and counter top out? That's not the way to do it
The homeowner wearing a wig is worried about his fake floor. Haha
.I
Mike! The floor is great ! And the squeaky door just ruins it.im still
Cringing.otherwise lovely.

😂 the guy who backed a house prefab constructive company that had well... issues ... the irony 🎉
None the less this show exposes scum bags ... this plus using the Internet may help people
My opinion who looks down while walking
This is why I have knee issues.
Sigh, yet another repeat of a repeat.
looks like no one streams the old shows, Homeful TV does appear to do it through Sling but it is probably taking some time to get all the episodes broadcast rights from the copywrite holder, especially being on youtube they would have to make sure they had the rights otherwise the channel would get struck down.
