- This is a 1950 70th anniversary Olivetti Lettera 22.
In 2021, 70 Lettera 22s were cleaned and repainted with this special livery to celebrate the anniversary of this typewriter.
Unfortunately, they were cleaned very badly, using the wrong products and causing them to block completely, making them unusable.
In this video, I will show how to disassemble it, clean it properly (in my opinion), and reassemble it to make it work again!
Bravo!
Grazie! 😊
Thank you for such a helpful video. I recently added a 1950 Lettera 22 to my collection. I just love it! Seeing how to remove the platen, as well as replace the rubber grommets has been most helpful. I've given it an initial clean but need to get in behind the platen to find out why the margins and tabs are not working. They don't seem to be quite catching where they should. Seeing your video has given me more confidence to go in for a look. Thank you for sharing 😊
I'm glad the video helped you! if you want more help send me a DM on instagram @typewriter_hunting!
Amazing!! So beautiful and relaxing. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
Thankyou for this very helpful video. We have recently purchased an Olivetti Loretta 22 and we’d love to know where you purchase the replacement grommets as shown in your hand at the 7:30 time stamp? Or even if you could share with us what the are called, that would be great. (We are in Australia).
@paulas6101 Hi! I think they are called "rubber cable grommets" in English. They are used in electrical applications to protect the cable from wear on sharp holes. In my country (Italy), they are called "gommini passacavo".
You can find pretty convenient boxes with different sizes on Amazon for around 10€.
Subscribed and liked it! Superbjob! I wish I could see a Studio 46 video restoration cause I have to do 2!
Thank you, mate! I am going to do a Lettera 32 restoration video soon, but if you need some advice for the 46, send me a DM on instagram @typewriter_hunting!
Hello and thank you for this very helpful video. Can you please tell us what the name of the grommets are in your hand at the 7:34 mark? We need a new set of those for our little Olivetti but I have no idea what to even ask for at a hardware store. (We’re in Australia). Is that where you would buy them?
What rubber bushings did you use as replacements for remounting the body to the frame?
