I have been using this recipe since I opened shop since early 2020 and I tested so many wax melts recipes and i started experimenting with igi 6006 and 4625 and i found a killer recipe using these two together just like you did here and I have to say this recipe by far has been the strongest scent throw and fastest curing wax melt ive ever found so i stuck with it since. I use fragrance oils from Aztec and I use roughly these measurements for each waxes and oils. I start with igi 4620 roughly 80grams and then I go all the way up to 454 grams of igi 6006, I melt the wax and let it cool to roughly 165 degrees pour in my fragrance and i use 1.3 oz of fragrance (roughly 8% but you can add more with softer fragrances like cherry blossom and such) and you pour around 150 and you get smooth wax melts with a great scent throw. I've been following your channel and candle group for a while now and you've been a massive help and i just want to say thanks!
YOU'RE SOO AWESOME! I appreciate ALL the info about candle making from home that you've been kind enough to take the time & share with us. A huge THANK YOU and wishing your candle business the FINEST BLESSINGS bcuz you surely deserve more than you've shared. APPLAUD🙏👍👏👏👏👏💖💖
I used this same combo of 6006 &4625 but then I experimented with the Golden wax melt & tart along with 6006 and OMG its perfect. Strong CT & HT. Not too hard and not too soft. Great video!!!
I was thinking about mixing golden with 6006 for my melts how was the HT and are the melts soft? I made some melts tonight with just 6006 way too soft 🙄...
Ty so much for these videos! I watch them over and over as I learn and make mistakes. I'm ordering these waxes today. The 416, 444 and 464 all were too mushy for melts. Without your videos I'd be so lost.
Hey Stanley This Was Good. Learned Alot, Thank You, I Love Fragrance And I Love Wax Melts, Soap Making And Just Body Care And Cosmetics In General. Very Happy I Found This Channel Very Very Helpful. 😀
Great teaching. Very helpful information. Professional and massively production ideas. Thanks so much for generously sharing your gifted crafting. Mucho Gracias
Thanks for info about maplestreet clamshell prices! They are cheaper than other that I have ordered from. I always make my melts with soy and paraffin combos makes the best ones I have ever made. I use a 80/20 percentage combo (soy 80% and paraffin 20%)
Lol this video is 2 years old, I'm super late....BUT, I started laughing at the part where you say you leave your fragrance oil next to the unlabeled clamshells.....I LIVE BY THIS. lol I always keep the fragrance oil bottle next to whatever project I'm wokring on. I WILL forget what i poured...I DO NOT rely on myself to ALWAYS distinguish the scent as I smell it. I'll be like, "it smells like Cinnamon, but did I add some vanilla to that to test?!?!" Too funny
Hi Jeff, new candle maker here! Thank you so much for sharing this formula, As a beginner and not knowing much I was using IGI 6006 all alone to make wax melts which left my wax warmer sticky and hard to clean up. My prayers have been answered. Thanks a ton! :) Super Helpful. :)
Love your new studio and furniture. You could write the name of your fragrances on the paper next to the melt. Would you be able to do a packing video for us?
Hi Jeff.... where do you put your warning label? I noticed your front label is clear. Also, what goes on the warning label for melts, as opposed to for candles, seeing as how they're different?
The last batch of 6006 I bought from lonestar was back in June and it has given the best hot throw I’ve ever got. Yours might be a bad batch. When I’m making candles with the 6006 I put a little more than the 10% recommended. It’s seems to work better for me that way.
Hi Jeff. Thanks for all this great information. In your opinion, what combo has a stronger HT? 464 with 4625? or, 6006 with 4625? What % of 4625 is best do you think? Thank you for the advice!
Label question. When you use a clear label like that where do you put the warning label? I usually put it in the inside of the lid. Thanks PS this vid literally had 6 ads for me.
Hi, I make melts and use 464, but I have found that some are not as hard as others. I used ecosoya years ago before they changed there recipe and hiked the price. I don't know if maybe it was the fragrance or not, I have some universal soy wax additive that helps hard the wax which I also bought years ago I used to help with votives! Can I use this for my melts and if so how much per pound of 464 wax? Thanks so much, love watching your videos great tips. I make my melts in groups of 3 or 5, but now I'm going to do 7. Thanks again and God bless!
Hope you are doing well since your health scare earlier this year? May I ask why you pour all the way up to the edge? I’m still researching melts. TY for your answer.
Hello 👋 I’m trying to get started making my own wax melts was wanting to know which wax to use and where to get it and where to get the best fragrance oil 😊 thanks so much for your videos
I’m loving your videos thanks!! ? What does “one pour” mean? Also, I’m super new and I’m confused on the different waxes you’re using. What do the numbers mean and or do you have a video that only talks about different waxes? TY!
one pour means that you only do one pour. Some waxes shrink and create holes when they harden and some people like to do a second pour. The different numbers are like amodel number. I will make a video about the different ones. :)
This was my question as well. I messaged him, because I’m wondering if using more 6006 would mean you would get more soy out of it and if they would last longer.
Following-tried this method and my HT isn’t good. Not sure-maybe it’s just a subtle scent. I used sea salt and orchid, heated wax (16% 4625 & 84% 6006) to 185, added 11% FO between 170 & 175, and poured. Did them Friday and tested today. I’m very sad. I’ve tried so many methods and a few waxes and just am not getting the HT I would like. It has to be something I’m doing or not doing-wish I could figure it out
Lori Cordell are you sure you are doing the math correctly? I do a 60/40 blend. 60% being the 4625 and only have to do 8%. Heat to 195, FO at 170, stir a minute and pour
@@StandleyHandcrafted Thanks! ....and after listening to the video again just now.... I hear that you mentioned it in the video.... I will pay better attention :)
Hey, thank you so much for posting this recipe! I tried it out on 3 different scents, one is very strong but the others became significantly weaker after 2 hours of melting (I used 1 cube). I was wondering if you can give some feedback on how long 1 cube is expected to give a decent hot throw for in terms of hours.
@@StandleyHandcrafted @Standley Handcrafted Jeff, if I made individual cube wax melts, basically the same size as the individual pieces of the Breakaway kind, should I still use 4625 with the 6006 if they are going to be individual pieces? ( not in containers like the tarts)
Sorry that some get missed, I get literally hundreds a day. Email is always better as I don’t get all notifications from TH-cam. If your melts are too soft, add more 4625 until it’s get the desired hardness you’re after.
Jeff I made these wax melts for the first time today in silicone chocolate molds. Should I take them out of the mold and cure for for two or three days before packing them? Thanks Henrietta
Jeff, seriously. your breathing doesn't sound to goo, kind heavy and short breath with hardly no exertion at at, love your videos, retired nurse
I ended up with blood clots last year and now have heart and lung damage which causes that. I’m hoping some of that will get better. It sucks.

How are the melts when used 6006 and 494?
Which one do you prefer?
I just started adding wax melts to my inventory my customers love them and they are sooooo much easier than candles. They also smell amazing!
I’m trying to find my comments and can’t-it sounds like I did the math incorrectly. Thank you, Jeff, for all you do!

I get a good two days on a cube, getting lighter by the second day of course.
