The stadium fan fights between both teams are going to be epic. And if we’re lucky! Maybe both teams will go at it as well.😂😂😂
Soto also demanded a free suite for his family at the stadium for the duration of his contract. Yankees: nope. Even Derek Jeter and Aaron Judge pay for their suite albeit at a discount. We have a shared suite for player's families and babysitting services. Mets: Yes free private suite for the family, PLUS 4 premium tickets right behind home plate to every home game (regular season and postseason), and security for him and his family for all spring training and regular season games (home and away) paid for by the team. Additionally, the Mets have agreed to assist his family with in-season travel arrangements, guaranteed Soto will have number 22 on his uniform, and eight types of other award bonuses.
One of Stephen A's more coherent takes until he got to the part where he started wildly speculating on the Soto/Judge situation. It will eventually come out that Soto was just more interested in the Mets because of the organizational direction and how willing they were to provide him with what he asked for.

However if you only knew the money these teams make with popular players. 750million prob not even half of what they make in revenue.
The Mets have a good team & they have a good farm system. They have more money to spend than the Yankees too. The Mets swept the Yankees last year & the Mets took the Dodgers 6 games the Yankees took them 5. The Mets might have the best GM in baseball, the best owner, the best better minor league system & the better future. Don’t understand the female & what she can’t figure out. The Mets give Soto a better chance at winning the World Series then the Yankees do & Shanon talks Dodgers when the Mets are not done putting together there team for the 2025 season. The Mets are a move away from being favorites in the entire league.
You sound Super Delusional how can you say that with a Straight face? The Mets, almost missed The playoffs too, If it wasn't because they got hot at the right time. The Mets also got blown out the times they lost to The Dodgers in The NLDS. Yankees didn't. The Mets, also haven't won since VCR was The New Craze in '86. The Mets have made Awful moves by OVER PAYING players that end playing like 💩. The Mets also think they're better than The Yankees because of a regular season win. But let it be Yankee fans saying that and You'd will all say "Regular season's doesn't matter.
@@jessygarciThe Mets got blown out by the Dodgers because their entire end of the regular season+postseason journey consisted of traveling across the entire country almost every (other) day, with very little rest and downtime between series. The Yankees had no such schedule or travel times. The Mets went from Milwaukee to Atlanta, back to Milwaukee, to Philadelphia to New York, then to LA, back to Mew York, then back to LA. All the span of like 2-3 weeks. The team was exhausted and didn’t have downtime to rest up and refresh. It’s a miracle they got as far as they did. And even with that, the Mets went 2-4 against the Dodgers while the Yankees only put up one win and the single most embarrassing inning of defense in the World Series, maybe ever😂 Also still swept the Yankees 4-0 this season, including getting like 10+ HR off Cole in two games. If the Mets won the NLCS, the Yankees still would’ve ate shit😂
All in all Yankees and Mets suck ass. Dodgers all day everyday! Hopefully we see you guys next October so we can crush your dreams again…back2back loooadddddingggggg 😎
Dodgers outscored the Mets in the 4 games they won in NLCS 37-7 and were shutout in 2 games. The Mets have no pitching. They are trying to make former Yankee leader in blown saves Clay Holmes a starter. They are so desperate they signed Frankie Montas to a two-year deal. Severino left them to pitch for the A's - OMG. Do you know if Alonso will sign with the Mets, I doubt it. Good luck Juan competing with the Dodgers -lol.
How can it be devastating ? Soto was here for a year He took the best offer Now if it were Aaron Judge then that would be devastating I think the Yankees should sign Alonso Also get a real lead off hitter Alonso Judge and Stanton Now that would be devastating I think!
Nobody ever talks about F1 contracts but Max Verstappen make 75 million a year from Red Bull, Lewis make 57 million from merc. That just driver salary.

I must say, Stephen A. Smith, well done on your composure. For me, I genuinely appreciate this side of you. I was hesitant to watch, but yes, thanks for just being cool with it. If that makes sense 😊
Call the money even. So it wasn’t the money. I think it was the Mets young players,. They look good for the future. Vientos, Acuna, Alvarez, Mauricio, Gilbert, Baty. Maybe they get Alonso back, too. Owner with deep pockets has to be in his thoughts. Kind of a nice new stadium to play in, too.
You guys keep saying only 5 million it’s literally one year less he was smart to take the offer we can literally stack our team up with 2 bats and 2 pitchers for what we were willing to pay him
Moving on. Yankees just signed a very good pitchers, now possibly looking for another. Talking to Christian Walker and Cory Bellinger. So with money they didn't waste on one player, now they are building a more balanced team.
My opinion may be unpopular, but I'm glad the Yankees didn't retain Soto at that price. The Yankees have a lot of needs, and all that money, as great as he is, was just too much. The Yankees need better contact hitters throughout the lineup, rather than a two-man lineup. Cashman has work to do, but I'm confident that he is fired up to do whatever is necessary.
Steven A makes a great point about Soto not feeling Judge is up to the challenge pertaining to post season play. Myself I think part of the reason also it appeared that the Mets are a much more fun organization to play for and be around. The Mets fans are louder and crazier the stadium seems to be a lot more fun in the way it's designed the grimace and OMG after-game show with the entire Mets team and fans dancing to the music etc. And the frosting on the cake is having Lindor who you know is going to come up big when the pressure is on don't think Soto wasn't looking at MLB highlights of all the playoffs including the Mets to get a feeling who you might want to sign with if the money is right. In this situation he seems like he loved New York so he didn't have to leave New York but maybe he's going to play with just the more fun team. You must realize that Mets went from the worst minor league system to top five and that's really important too.
Is not just 5 mil more, it’s also one yr less. That’s 3.5 mil/yr less with the Yankees. Plus they didn’t wanna give him a suite por his family, whereas the Mets threw it in there no questions asked. Ppl just be talking about the contract, but did not pay attention to those little details that matter to him. Why would he sacrifice himself, when the Yankees wouldn’t do it for him?
Locked in on a 15 year contract. You know the Padres will never get him back on their roster;they weren’t even in the conversation as for who could possibly sign him. One year wonder for the Padres.
As a Yankees fan I’m obviously not happy that Soto went to the Mets but I look at it this way. The Yankees now have money to spend on other players. They just signed Max Fried minutes ago to an 8 year 218 million dollar contract. They will be making more moves.

It's not just 5M more its closer to 50M more with a year less. The Mets offered him 800M total if incentives are met. If the years were the same his contract would be 853M while the Yankees offered him 760M and that's not even including the signing bonus. Its closer to 100M difference. Soto got paid more to be in New York and gets to be the number 1 guy on the Mets instead of being the number 2 guy on the Yankees. I'm not shocked at all he went to the Mets
Yankees tried to add an extra year (16) and couldn't beat the Mets offer. Soto might get up to 800 MM with the Mets. Do not pretend you dont know that.
The Yanks wanted to pay him US$47.5M/year, but the Mets offered him US$51M/year before escalators kick in. There's the math lesson the panel didn't really cover.
*Fun Fact:* Their owner, Steve Cohen, got busted by the SEC for insider trading. Who’d have thought his last name was so fitting?
That's the reason why he didn't buy the Dodgers. His firm was under investigation when the Dodgers were up for sale.
I'm sorry, he did not say they got better pitching then the yanks 😭
literally has no clue
for only "5 millions dollars" nothing more deceiving than that... He's getting 5 millions extra, he's also getting a massive signing bonus, he's also getting an extra 5 millions per year after 5 years, he's also getting a suite for his family and yes you could! argue that's not important but when you show ME you care about my family you already won my fcking heart! if all goes well! he's getting 805 millions by the end of his contract.. It's not just "5 millions"...
exactly........it was the money and alwys was with SOTO......The money!!!
I'm happy he signed with the Mets the Yankees could sign 3 or maybe 4 good players with the money they offer to soto.
"Fair weathered step child" Coping so hard he can't speak english. LMAO.
Yankees fans are salty af 😂
@tarikmcentire9238 Most of them are.. I'm Not... I knew we wouldn't Keep Soto the Day we TRADED for him and No Extension came with it.
fact is mets got a guy who cant field has a weak arm, cant run bases but he can hit and u are paying him how much? and he isnt hitting in front of aron judge anymore
Definitely
@@sethterwilliger9434lol and his best season wasn’t even close to judges last few seasons 😂
SOTO DID NOT GET ALONG WITH BOONE DUE TO DECISIONS HE MADE ALSO DID NOT WANT TO SHARE THE SPOTLIGHT WITH JUDGE AND STANTON
I agree with that... Plus, he asked for a Suite for him and his family as compensations...? I bet Cohen got him one... But Yankees want to charge him for it... He's a Mama's boy and good for him and his family... Good luck to my old buddies in Flushing... Plus, wait for the NYC series... It may get heated... in the stands and on the field...
@@SALSAKID49yup! It’ll definitely get heated. Fans will go insane both ways. At city field and yankee stadium. 😂😂😂. Go yankees and go mets.
@@Veryunluckyman56689 LOL!!!! Break out your buttered Popcorn.... 🤣
@@SALSAKID49 i’m telling you man! I’m already eager for ‘25 baseball season to arrive. Yankee fans already created an unnecessary beef between both teams just because soto chose the mets. The stadium fan fights between both teams are going to be epic. And if we’re lucky! Maybe both teams will go at it as well.😂😂😂
"Stephen! . . . WHOOOOO WILL BE THE ''FIRST'' TO SIGN A ''BILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT??"
Mets are the New Kings of New York!!!
Yeah, They said that about The Nets when they got K.D too.

Meet the Mets meet the Mets step right up and meet the Mets 😩
The only thing thats devastating is Stephen A’s hairline
Nah can’t even blame Hal. He was willing to spend. The Mets just had way more
Steven A Smith talking baseball is like me talking Quantum Mechanics
Is not 5mil for the love of God, it’s 55 mil 🤦♂️ , yankees offered 16 years , Mets 15
Thats Not how the maths work
One of Stephen A's more coherent takes until he got to the part where he started wildly speculating on the Soto/Judge situation. It will eventually come out that Soto was just more interested in the Mets because of the organizational direction and how willing they were to provide him with what he asked for.
Judge publicly stated he was going to give Soto space.. What? Something doesnt sound right
Left him out in the rain 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Mets have to bring back Alonso
@AmazingGuy13 I think he'll be a Yankee.. I smell Desperation from My Yankees on this One🤣😂
The Yankees got Molly Wopped...🏟⚾️
Bruh everytime i think who in the hell is still watching baseball...contracts like this are signed. MLB is doing just fine 😂 gonna have a billion dollar athlete in 7 years or so.
Is the only sport in which arbitration forces team to pay the players market value. Contracts in baseball is not only for your talents but also comes with the revenue the team will make for their sale of your name in media and merchandise. Might seem like a lot. However if you only knew the money these teams make with popular players. 750million prob not even half of what they make in revenue.
Best union period on this continent. 💯
Stephen A Smith thought Hank Steinbrenner was still alive about a year ago whenever he’d rant “HANK AND HAL” Stephen A knows so little about baseball
@@jessygarcithe Yankees did nothing in the playoffs other than beat up on terrible Al teams and then got exposed as frauds by dodgers
Steve Cohen is the New George Steinbrenner.
Mets absolutely do not have been pitching that’s a wild statement
But how does this affect lebrons legacy?
First take talking about baseball 🤣
See this is what a lot of people not talking about 16 years 46 million a year
15 years 51 million a year
If only first take would talk about baseball more throughout the year
Lets Go New York Mets Baseball ⚾❤️✝️🇺🇲🙏
How can it be devastating ?
Soto was here for a year
He took the best offer
Now if it were Aaron Judge then that would be devastating
I think the Yankees should sign Alonso
Also get a real lead off hitter
Alonso Judge and Stanton
Now that would be devastating I think!
What is devestating is that $40 million Judge is a .200 playoff hitter.
Smith is right.
NYY gave up Michael King for 1 year of Soto. I think that is truly the devastation.
@ And Soto helped get them to a World Series
King was not going to do that.
@ I’ll take Judge over Soto any time.
Nobody ever talks about F1 contracts but Max Verstappen make 75 million a year from Red Bull, Lewis make 57 million from merc. That just driver salary.
Does anyone actually watch ESPN?
Stephie is Right, Cohen has Money, Great man in D. Stearns, 1 of Smartest GM's in MLB, Charlie Mendoza a Good Manager, Younger, More Athletic, better Farm, etc.
Can't wait to watch Soto and lindor ...oh man oh baby LETS GOOOO
Stephen love your comment God bless you bro 😎
it’s hilarious when people in the comments know more than the “analysts”😂😂
Get over it... he was only there 1 year. It's not like the Mets took Judge away from them
Wait wait wait. Did he just say the Mets have better pitching than the Yankees? hahaha Stick to talking about basketball Stephen A.
We gotta stop making opinions on somebody's decision. Soto is a grown man. Best of luck
"They have better pitching than the Yankees" WHAT LMAO
Everyone acting like Soto played with the Yankees all his life 🤦🏻♂️😂
Crazy Soto said "I can't live getting stomped by the dodgers only 1 or twice a year, I need more!" 😮😮 #ripsotospostseason
You guys keep saying only 5 million it’s literally one year less he was smart to take the offer we can literally stack our team up with 2 bats and 2 pitchers for what we were willing to pay him
I don't agree with Steven A on most things but i do agree with him saying soto didn't really feel playing with judge.
Soto was the only one trying to get the team hyped when they made a good play..
First Take knows baseball like I know the inner workings of quantum physics as they pertain to the formation of black holes throughout our vast galaxy
It's not the Yankees fought It's da Mets owner fought when the Greatest rapper of all times Nas told him if he didn't sign Soto he's leaving Queens 🤣
Coming from a Rapper BORN n Brooklyn🤣😂😂🤣
@antmc84 🤣
Could be Carl Crawford part 2 blessing in disguise
Is this same thing as kd and kyrie going to the nets a d not the knicks? 😂
Stephen A made sure to do his research for this one well said.
It is possible Judge folding up in the postseason led Soto to the Mets with a more balanced lineup.....
As a Yankee lifelong fan we dodged a bullet thank god. Now let’s fill all those other holes we have
baseball and boxing topic are when max is needed😔
Money talks, BS walks.
Moving on. Yankees just signed a very good pitchers, now possibly looking for another. Talking to Christian Walker and Cory Bellinger. So with money they didn't waste on one player, now they are building a more balanced team.
as a mets fan, im elated. saw this coming. now i hope they keep pete alonzo..
Mets have a better farm system, richer owner, more young stars. Who would you rather play with, Vientos or Volpe?
Bro it's not just 5 million. The deal has the potential to go up to 800 mil. The Yankees didn't offer that now did they.
@ oh of course. But it annoys me that they act like the deals were basically the same. Because they were not.
Locked in on a 15 year contract. You know the Padres will never get him back on their roster;they weren’t even in the conversation as for who could possibly sign him. One year wonder for the Padres.
Diehard fan 😆 🤣 😂
As a Yankees fan I’m obviously not happy that Soto went to the Mets but I look at it this way. The Yankees now have money to spend on other players. They just signed Max Fried minutes ago to an 8 year 218 million dollar contract. They will be making more moves.
