RTV X 1140 using the float position . If the cargo bed cannot be raised or lowered due to trouble with the engine or hydraulic system shift the lever to (float) position. The cargo bed can be raised or lowered manually. Straight from Kubota manual.
Grumpy cow should be named Karen or Felicia. LOL. Thank you for the info on the sidekicks. I am sure we will get one next year when we get our homestead.
"Stoney Ridge Speed Shop" lolololol there is a combined 30 miles an hour on that shirt right there hahah. I love it! Goes along with the "Lifes better at 5 mph" shirt. I need to stop procrastinating and get myself some SRF gear! Keep making them friend and we'll keep watching them!
Scary looking how those rear ramps are installed....you may have the unit secured in a manner I do see or understand? But when using ramps "common practice" would be to have the wheels on the "Flats" or in the manufactured "Depressions"....as with anything consult/READ manufacturer's specifics/directions and follow all safety procedures. Thanks for your video's ...I just changed the sway bar on an 855d we have in the shop... apparently it happens often with these units on the right side in a spot where you cannot see/inspect for damage...all good! be well and safe
If I had to diagnose what went wrong with you sway bar, is an issue with heat treatment. They tend to be made out of chrome moly which is a fantastic steel. But if the heat treatment isn’t just right, it can be too hard and under many cycles the steel can fatigue to the point of having a brittle fracture. But what do I know I’m just an Engineering student! Love the video it’s about that time of year to service the equipment on my grandpas farm too!
I get what you are saying about hydrologic dump on the kubota but with the seats folded down you don’t need to lift the bed you just lift seat and pull the cover off
I work in a factory that makes sway bars, not for John deere but it appears the bushing rubbed the paint off the bar and compromised it or there was a issue in the forging process. It shouldn't have broken that soon.
If you need a wrench to take your old oil filter off it was put on too tight. It’s sort of a mess nomenclature where it says put on hand tight and then a quarter turn more on the box. You just want to spin it down till, with a loose grip, it’s nice and snug. Then grip it hard and turn it quarter or so with just your hand holding real tight. That’s really all it takes. I used to work in an automotive garage and I could always tell when someone else put the oil filter on because it was always way too tight. I had some were the filter simply crushed and literally rip free from its gasket surface. I had to use a hammer and chisel carefully to knock the gasket surface free from the engine block. Some would start to crash so I would take the wrench off and stick a screwdriver through it and start turning it. At least twice the screwdriver started tearing through so I stopped and put a second screwdriver 90° from the first one and then use both screwdrivers to twist it free. An adult should have no problems with a good strong grip to tighten an oil filter with just his bare hands. When you do it like this when it comes time to take it off that real strong grip should be all it takes to untwist it. And I’ve worked on hundreds of cars and not a one of them Ever leaked. Don’t think hand tight means as tight as your white knuckle grip can do and then use a wrench to snuggle up more, you’re just over tightening.
I often use ramps like you are, but don't try to drive onto them. I use a floor jack to put them under the wheels, and then can just drive off when I'm done.
the engine is a Chery automotive engine. they are from china and are widely used in a lot of side by sides and a lot of low power vehicles. i have seen them in joyner side by sides and the buggies they make, some are even 4 cyl. too. from what i hear they do run pretty good. they even have them in the new john deere gator(835). oh yea, forgot to say the joyner also has a 5 speed manual trans so you can modify the gator and put a manual trans on it if you wanted to.
My sway bar broke in same spot just on the other side. I hit a log in the hay field chasing cows, it took a hard lick and that’s all that happened, was up on 2 wheels. I think if you sale it you will miss it. Mine says it has 25,000 miles, bought it used. I’m going to say it has maybe 2/3 of those miles realistically since they say the hours and mileage can be way off. I would rethink selling it. Dad had 2 or 3 of everything just Incase of a break downs.
You should jack up the front end on that Gator and check the ball joints. We have a 2013 825i S4 with power steering- at only 800 hours three of them went bad and the front tire actually tipped sideways and pulled the axle out. They are not grease-able- go figure lol Just trying to save you and accident or headache!!
I’m not sure about that engine but I had a Chevy sprint in 1986 and it had a three cylinder and it was made by Suzuki. It was small but it was a great engine, I worked for dominoes in an area that was foothills and mountains and I put about 150,000 miles on that thing just beating it to death the whole time. It finally seized one day and I saw it and it turned out all that was wrong was the seal on the distributor and the guy who bought it fixed it and had it for a long time.
Hi Josh can I suggest not to use impact gun on utv wheel nuts as can strip stud grip's and then stud will spin so cannot remove nut, cheers from UK like the deer freezer filler reference
one more thing please...these break due to overloading... it is easy to overload these units!... best to change everything links hardware and it's bolts in!!!! nuts on inside as per manufacturer... I'm sure it works fine
You are very funny buddy, when you said Bang’ Bang!! Sounded kind of Kinky...LOL.....😇😏 Nice to see you without sunglasses, this way we can see your handsome eyes.........lol By the way, keep up the good looks😍👍👌
We are not putting chemicals on our cattle. The fly load is perfectly normal with our cattle. No pink eye...again we are avoiding chemicals on our cattle. Put a fly treatment on them..it's systemic..it affects the urine and feces of our animals which in turn affects the manure and renders it sterile, no earthworms, no soil...no grass...no farm. When our herd is a bit bigger we'll graze egg layers behind the cows and this will help with the fly load in a much more holistic manner...no pills, no chemicals. Keep on watching as we show ya how we do this over time. Mob grazing and movement will lower our fly load also. Just hang tight..there is a reason for every move I'm making my brotha
19:12 Just in case you do keep the Gator( I would :D), I'd look into an aftermarket power steering kit. No way could I get a utv without power steering 🙅🏾♂️ 22:44 I've been looking for used Gators, but the shipping scares my wallets since all I can find are out of state ones :[
Man I can’t tell ya how many times I’ve had those metal ramps slide on me! Gator is looking good. We have a 1000 gallon water trailer that’s pretty close to what you got there. We used to use it to haul water for planting tobacco many years ago
The steel today is JUNK Too much old scrap steel throwed in pot with very little new Iron. And in turn you get sway bars and other steel parts that break easier then it did years ago. Ever look at a new piece of flat steel. Laying in a garage. It rust quick.. in a dry but maybe a little damp place old steel didnt do that. Great Video..
Why didn't you just weld the sway bar back together instead of replacing it? If you don't weld I'm sure somebody would have done it for cheap. Also you mentioned putting Grease on your bushings. Be careful what grease you use because certain Grease products will destroy the rubber so you have to make sure about that before you use it.
I love your channel so much but if I might say that the one thing that slows you down a little is your repeating your explanations of your equipment. You just had a full video of all your equipment, and you did it again (water tank) in this video. Just a suggestion.
Sadly I’m not in the market for one, I saw on my local Facebook about 15 miles from here the guy selling a 2014 4 x 4 gator looks very similar to yours for $2000. It’s a ladies name selling it, I’m not really sexist but it might be a midwife or something like that, I don’t know what they cost but I’m pretty sure I six your old model with hardly even a scratch on it and clean and they’re advertising it as low hours for $2000 is pretty much stealing it. Lol. It’s funny because I saw it last night and was thinking about your other video where you showed all your toys and thinking how similar it was to your model. Lol. I’m almost tempted just to buy it and resell it. Lol. Ugh. Just checked and of course it’s already sold. They’re about 4 to 5 times that much used on here for other ones listed. I blew it snoozing I guess. :/
Chery of China. Deere don’t build anything but big engines. Kawasaki , Yanmar , Chery all import suppliers. I am not saying it’s bad, just don’t expect an American made engine
Hi..... Thank you 🎥👍👍👍
Great video! Good point with the electric over hydraulic controls
Enjoy your channel! Your good attitude and laughs are infectious! Thx!
2 Suggestions/tips 1) if the drain plug washer is a crush type, it’s 1 time use. If it’s a flat washer, you can use multiple times. At
Josh i love ur video u are always happy and have a smile on ur face
I really like the way you admit your mistakes and then recommend how you corrected it.
That is one heavy duty rig for transporting water. The pump and hose anywhere you want it would be really helpful. Cool video!! - Rick
You've got good taste in decals/stickers on the Gator. All quality companies that make quality stuff.👍🏻
Josh, you need to spray some fly spray on your cattle. It looks like flies are pretty heavy on them.
Hey Josh thank you for the video I enjoyed it and screaming cows 2 woo
Good job with the Gator. Thanks for the video.
Love when ya fix stuff very informative!!!!
Textron/Tracker and Kawasaki also use the Chery engine in some of their UTVs.
RTV X 1140 using the float position . If the cargo bed cannot be raised or lowered due to trouble with the engine or hydraulic system shift the lever to (float) position. The cargo bed can be raised or lowered manually. Straight from Kubota manual.
Love driving by the Stoney Ridge Farm
Hey thanks for the video. I have to do similar service to mine for the first time. I found it very helpful.
Grumpy cow should be named Karen or Felicia. LOL. Thank you for the info on the sidekicks. I am sure we will get one next year when we get our homestead.
yup I like 'Foghorn' too for the bellowing baby
Living and learning with stoneyman awesome video bro love watching

Good to see you still out and about
I have had 3 sway bars break in 8500 miles on my Gator.
Great Job Josh! I am always working on my farm. I only have 22 ac. I'm 65 and if give a reason to get up each day.
The 825i cherry engine was used in the chevy geos also. Put the gator in 4 low and it will climb right up the ramps without them sliding.
Thats funny about winging that cow! Lol yes, its strange that sway bar would brake!! Might wont to see if there is a recall on them.
Good video 👍 but you are wright to put a little grease or some type of lube on the bushings!!! Help them last longer !!! Thanks 👍 keep it up !!!
Man you were so close to over filling that catch can!
It's a Kawasaki motor so I would think Japan is where it was made. Great vid.

I'll tell ya....this is not a unit we kept for long....we went Honda pioneer and havn't looked back!
Hey Josh would love to see a deer hunting video on your awesome property
Having it in 4 wheel drive helps too

Get a Honda 700 pioneer. It's a great machine. I know you will love it. Its all gear driven.

Another great video! When You gonna find time to put them martin gourds up? Sure would help with the mosquitoes.
Those cows are looking tasty 😋

I like that gator, wife and I love the 5 seater ones but boy what a price tag 🙃
Your John deere tractor is like a combination of the 2 tractors we have 5510 and 5093e

What kinda spray nozzle was on the end of the hose of the water tank?
Put the metal ramps on a kiddie mat. The rubber mats would prevent them from sliding.
that would work for sure
Did you put the gator in 4 wheel drive when you were putting it on the ramps?
Hi Josh can I suggest not to use impact gun on utv wheel nuts as can strip stud grip's and then stud will spin so cannot remove nut, cheers from UK like the deer freezer filler reference
Best to use dish soap on those bushings
one more thing please...these break due to overloading... it is easy to overload these units!... best to change everything links hardware and it's bolts in!!!! nuts on inside as per manufacturer... I'm sure it works fine
What is the brand of 12v pump you use in your hydraulic oil buckets? Do you still like it?
MacNaught...look in the video description on my amazon page..you'll see them. Very happy!
You are very funny buddy, when you said Bang’ Bang!! Sounded kind of Kinky...LOL.....😇😏 Nice to see you without sunglasses, this way we can see your handsome eyes.........lol By the way, keep up the good looks😍👍👌
Was that a Mossberg box in the back of the kubota?
Name him 'Grumpo'.......Nice work on your vehicles...
So basically what you have is a 1000 gallon super pressure washer. whoooooooo
Sway bars break on polaris often as reported on their Facebook forums.
looks like the sway bar got work hardened and snapped maybe a bad hardening job on it
What fly spray do you use
That was a defect in the metal for that break. The metal wasn't heat treated or formed correctly.
So, the pond pipe didnt work?
After owning some John Deer equipment do you think it was worth the extra money over other brands to have a John Deer?
Please show me the math formulas you used to figure the volume of that oil jug.
2.3 qts needed. Say "ok google" what's 3.2 -2.3....then google gives ya the answer my friend
Self Weaning is nature’s way 👍
The cattle would be happier with something to move those fly on, spray them or tag them, or buy a backrub.
We are not putting chemicals on our cattle. The fly load is perfectly normal with our cattle. No pink eye...again we are avoiding chemicals on our cattle. Wooooooo
Always make sure the wheels are in the "cradle" of those ramps. Very dangerous to have the wheels just sitting on the ramp portion of it.
How much 4 the gator? Year?
I know on acres of clay they have milking cows and there all breeding and they make similar sounds but ya Im not sure no more lol godbless bud
Yes that cow is in heat
U need a barn build like Mike Morgan
19:12 Just in case you do keep the Gator( I would :D), I'd look into an aftermarket power steering kit.
No way could I get a utv without power steering 🙅🏾♂️
22:44 I've been looking for used Gators, but the shipping scares my wallets since all I can find are out of state ones :[
Chery International of China. The 812cc inline triple cylinder engine was originally manufactured for use in Chery automobiles
WOOOOOO 🇺🇲!!!
It's a machine they break it doesn't matter who makes it.
WOOOOO!
Name that cow Hillary.
After the guy who climbed Everest.
What exactly is this special tool you speak of? 😁
lol...some would argue I'm a special tool bhhahahha
7:47 RIP earbud users
Man I can’t tell ya how many times I’ve had those metal ramps slide on me! Gator is looking good. We have a 1000 gallon water trailer that’s pretty close to what you got there. We used to use it to haul water for planting tobacco many years ago
Right on
did you end up selling the gator?
The 3 cylinder "Chery" engine is made in India.
Can cleaning a vehicle with high pressure water damage it, pushing dirt and water into places they should not be?
I'm pretty sure the engine is made by cherry motor company, which is a Chinese car company.
When you working on the loader

you could of always bought a kit for electric power steering and install it yourself

Ahahahahaha will the "special tools" ever be highlighted on Tool Tuesdays??

I keep breaking creepers because I weigh 300 pounds
John Deere motor made in China. Made by Chery international in Chery brand cars.
Broke because of cheap metal. Probably China metal :)
Chinese engine made by chery
First
Chery of China. Deere don’t build anything but big engines. Kawasaki , Yanmar , Chery all import suppliers. I am not saying it’s bad, just don’t expect an American made engine
Side note, stay away from Fram filters. Junk
number12
Do your self a favor and use wix filters. Seeing a video of different oil filters construction. Fram is not what you want to be using in my opinion.
Call the cow cry baby lol
Wooooooooooo! I would like to get dirty too......😏😇 Yahooooooooooooo!
