We all DREAM of having Michael Glassman design our landscapes! I wish he would create a foundational design workbook/Bible and/or online workshop for all of us across the country. I hope you all are taking good photos to use for the above requests. This was a wonderful video!
Michael Glassman is a national treasure. Not spending money to spend money. Thinks of the animals. Creating beautiful spaces. Visit my humble ordinary home in Massachusetts! Amanda
My head is SPINNING! I can only imagine what you are thinking. What a gift that you are receiving from your association with him. Who would have ever dreamed when you first met him how important he would be to your future? I’m so excited to see how things develop for you and your family. Blessings to you!
Think about an open fence design on such a busy road (noise). Consider recessing your entry gate about 25 feet so as you’re waiting for the gate to open, you are off the main road.
Living on a busy road is a drag, Ive been there in my first purchased house. Thankfully this house is set back far enough to compensate. Replacing the front fencing with open wire is an added expense - especially if the wire is covered in vine . . . The solid wood fencing with vines growing on it will help insulate more of the road noise. In my humble opinion!!
@@heidijones1516totally agree, I would definitely keep the existing fence and soften the look with vines, planting shrubbery here and there, it would definitely help with the noise!
This is why designers are worth the expense. Their ideas, their vision priceless!!! I consulted with a local designer to help us and she has been amazing. Sometimes the cost can be a concern, but ours let me pay by the hour and empowered me to do some of the work to save money like drawing the plans for the landscaper. The gazebo and pond idea has me on the edge of my seat. Laura at garden answer just did a pond and it’s to die for.
@@AmandaLaPointe-f1gI agree! My neighbor and I watch her videos and we’re just discussing that in the Boston area that pond would cost about 200k. I don’t even have land for a pound so I’ll just keep enjoying my tiny fountain lol. Curious what this project might cost.
@@AmandaLaPointe-f1g I agree. I started watching Laura first but She isn't in my zone and I found Janey's channel because she is my zone and 20 miles from me. I watch Laura now just to see what's new and plants she puts together but I can't afford to plant 300 supertunias for a border. When Laura said her pond would be about 80,000 dollars I was definitely thinking it would be well above 200,000. Yikes.
This video was like getting a free consultation with Michael Glassman. So many wonderful ideas that I can incorporate into my own landscape. Thanks Michael for allowing Janey to video this. Thanks Janey for taking us along.
Hi Janey, you and Jason have chosen the best , i.e. have a professional like Michael Glassman help you design a plan. I love how he said that he watched Janey’s videos. He obviously knows how to do his homework and truly customizes every specifications for his clients! Thank you for sharing your incredible journey! 🌸❤️🇨🇦
Garden Answer just did a few episodes with a pond installation. You might be able to partner with the company she used to get a pond installed. I'm so excited to see your vision/dreams come to fruition. 😊
Janey, Michael's energy and ideas are absolutely mindboggling! Just remember that this garden is about the journey. Baby steps. Just pick a spot and start from there. Take some of Michael's ideas and interpret them into your own.💖🌲🌲🌲🌻
Absolutely overwhelming! Great ideas but make it yours Janey. You have a great eye, you know your budget (as we all have). It will be lovely and we will all enjoy your process. Have fun in your space!
Yes, this just sounds overwhelming. Water features, huge boulders with water, a fountain, gazebo….WOW! I’m exhausted. This could be a modified very long range project. All of this hard scape will be $$$$ Any $$ left for the rest of the property? Yikes 😱
Oh my goodness! How incredibly fun was this video!!! I’m loving you taking us along on your journey! Thank you! And Michael…there are no words…he’s beyond precious and he’s brilliant!!!
Michael has some amazing ideas. And they will be an amazing launchpad for what you end up doing. I will say, however, that at the end of the day, only do the things you absolutely love. The home has to reflect you and Jason and the girls. We all have ideas 😂 and we all like to tell you what to do, but at the end of the day, “you do you” ~Laura Eubanks~
I would definitely walk the property when it’s raining to see where rain is pooling up and where it is draining. When I see a wall like the zigzag, I immediately think it’s there to stop water. The smallest slope toward the house can cause a water problem. We learned the hard way. I think Janey can make it beautiful on her own without taking all the suggestions. Some are great but some are over the top.
I agree. The “dream” landscape is over the top. Wonderful but the expense would be gigantic, not to mention the maintenance. The budget is definitely a factor. If you can’t afford maintaining it …. don’t. There is nothing more frustrating than creating your dream garden and not having the funds or manpower to maintain it.
I adored watching Micheal all the way from Australia. His enthusiasm was catching and I just cannot wait to watch the progress. You have content for years and years!! ☺️🙏🏼🇦🇺🍷🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇
Mind boggling. I couldn't stop smiling. The beauty of the ideas that flow from Michael's brain is absolutely incredible. What a joy to have been able to see the vision as you progressed around the property. Thank you.
What I like is Michael knows you can’t do everything right away, he’s reasonable absolutely creative & know about design & plants, he knows your a gardener & you are creative too, that book of ideas is wonderful he should have given you that copy, he is so honest which is important for planning with clients 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤩congrats 😍
A consideration in design for the bathroom going in your office space to have access for the pool area so you don't have to go all the way back in the house plus potential wet protection. Also it could be usable for outside parties or guests not having to trape through the house.😊
I need some Country Romance at my house! Loved the video! A little tip for the video audio that I have found that works well for me. Once you have the mic and camera audio lined up as close as you can. Cancel out the camera audio and only use the mic audio. That way you don’t get the background noise of cars going by and it helps with that faint echo with your voices. Hope that helps!
This hour and a half video felt like 10 minutes! I love Michael Glassman! I could listen to him all day. He's so passionate about what he does. He truly is a genius.
Amazing video. Michael has so much talent, energy and enthusiasm. I can only imagine your excitement about the projects ahead. I did chuckle thinking of your husband with the camera in one hand and a calculator in the other.😂 Having a master plan is very smart and will save you money and time over the years as you develop your "diamond in the rough". So much potential. Very excited for you and your family. Looking forward to following you on this exciting journey. ❤
Thank goodness for Michael! After your outside tour video I was so worried for you! 🤭😬😅 You didn't have a grand master plan idea for how you will live on the property or how the inside of the house relates to the outside space and how you move between them, or how to solve the curb appeal/entry problem, and you seemed to be planning a lot of energy and focus on the edges and hidden corners of the property, and leaving a giant hole in the middle where the focus needs to be. This is why it is so important to hire a designer, especially if space planning and design is not your strength. Looking forward to seeing how this all progresses through the years. So excited for you!
Everyone should have a landscape designer like Michael. It is clear he has the client's best interest in mind and provides options based on their needs. One suggestion Janey as you digest all of this info from Michael, go with the white pergola in your back yard vs the wood, which will require constant maintenance. I've owned my home for over 40 years and it's expensive to replace mistakes!!! Low-maintenance is the way to go. There are so many high-end low maintenance options today, why not? Even if it's a little more expensive, it will save you time and money in the long run. Even the no-maintenance decking is better than wood. We had wood deck and with regular maintenance, it needed replacing eventually. We went with composite. Think LONG TERM. Can't wait to see your yard transformation!!
Ok, I'm not skipping the ads so all those Michael Glassman's ideas will actually happen! How I wish I have lots of money to hire that genius man to make my house beautiful.
Michael has a lot of enthusiasm, as do you Janey! We can enjoy all the possibilities, anticipating all the future beauty and function coming to your new property!
Micheal was right on point for design. I too saw removing that front deck and add a free standing gable to give depth, height and inviting entrance. Love the pond and gazebo in front instead of the formal 4 section of boxwood. He is really tying your ranch style home to be engulf by beauty. So looking forward to seeing you journey
Yesss! 100% agree with the gazebo and the evergreen privacy on the long border! It’ll take away just a little bit of your planting grounds BUT I think it’s only gonna enhance the beauty of everything else you do in the orchard!
I’m only ten minutes in and I’m already like “dang my house is boring, I need a pond and weeping willows” 😂😂 -his voice just powers through so descriptively and fast that you feel like you’re on a thrilling roller coaster! Adrenaline, baby!!
Am I the only one that watched this video twice?? More than twice?? I love it! Wow everything. 👏 I can’t choose what I love the most but wow a gable, framing your front door would make all the difference and add so much curb appeal! I also really loved seeing you get so excited. Brings all of us, so much joy! We see the sparkle in your eyes (behind the sunglasses 😉) lol I can’t wait to see the journey and transformation! Hugs from Texas
I can only imagine the energy that flowed during this video! Jason did a fantastic job keeping up with y'all during the filming. It has been great seeing Jason get involved with this new adventure. Michael's ideas are wonderful and so thoughtful. I loved the way he incorporated so many areas for family living from the gazebo to the hot tub, the outdoor dining area, the pool and even the bike storage and parking areas. Wow, I would never have seen this vision. Good luck with this new chapter of your lives. I intend to stay tuned and see how it all comes to fruition.
OMG, I sat this whole video with a big smile on my face. You're so excited to redue this yard. It's going to be so fun to watch what you and your husband do with this property
I also thought you should put a bathroom in the office. It will also give you a restroom for the pool without going in the house. I am loving the energy and excitement!! I am excited with you !! Great camera work, Jason.
We are glued to the tv right now watching this video. Not only are his ideas great, he's so quick!! Idea Idea Idea Idea flying all over the place. The way he sees the levels and shapes is brilliant. You have a lot of work ahead of you. How about you do most of the work and then we all come help do some planting?!
I had to watch this video in segments. The excitement was overwhelming. I started at 3 am, watched it in about 20 minute intervals-- Anyone else here Jason’s head going cha-Ching cha-Ching?? I giggled often. ❤
What a gift Michael has. He really loves he work. When I saw your first tour of your property I thought oh my! But Michael’s consult really helped with organizing the huge scope of the work to be done. And for the rest of us we got ideas, too! Can’t wait to see what you tackle first.
You are so lucky to have him in your area. so many landscapers are only about the total redo. He gets that his is a project to grow over time and he really respects your talents as a gardener.
I would like to say how much I enjoyed this video. So lovely to watch genuine enthusiasm from everyone & also very realistic in saying this is a long term plan. Gardening for me is all about seeing it evolve & enjoying that process, it’s not about getting contractors in to do it all. My garden in 🏴🇬🇧 is now 27 years old but was a blank canvas when we purchased the property. It’s changed many times as our children grew up & left home. I have loved every stage & changing it when I could afford to. I think you appreciate much more when you know how much of you you have put into it. Can’t wait to watch your garden grow & thank you for sharing 💚💚💚💚👨🌾💚💚💚💚
What awesome ideas! Don't forget a spot for your greenhouse! I didn't hear that mentioned! Maybe you can incorporate a butterfly garden in one of your beds too! How fun to dream and plan on a blank slate. Loved the porch and patio ideas!
Omg i totally agree with him on the front center yard! The last video you said a parterre I was thinking no🥴 I thought park like with sitting and lush greenery and flowers and pathways👍😎❤️
Well worth the money for the consultation. He covered the entire property. A person could easily spend 2 to 3 times that amount trying to correct mistakes and re-doing areas to their satisfaction. Priceless..!!!
I'm only halfway through this video and am obsessed! It's like he took your ideas for the property and your style at your last home and turned up the volume. If I were you I would be slightly overwhelmed, but as a viewer I'm excited to see how you guys break it down and I have no doubt that, step by step, you will create an incredibly magical space.
I’m a big gardener too. But I keep thinking about your entry way in the front of the house and on the back of the house. It is a rare opportunity to enclose and open it up to your interior square footage. You would have a beautiful entry on the front and make your living room feel larger. Since you have the exact opening on the back and your going to put a door out there anyway it would connect the kitchen to your living room and again add interior square footage. Just thinking before you put in that hard scape. So excited to watch your new passion project come alive!🎉congrats!!!
Agreed. Having a large yard definitely need that interior space to open up to the home for sure. That zig zag should just be torn down to put up the front deck would be lovely.
Wow did anyone else gain a wealth of knowledge from this video. I am so excited. Talk about getting a viewers hooked. We have to keep watching the progress. Thank you Janey !!!
I’m sooooo excited for your yard transformation! It’s going to be fun to follow along and see what you do. I hope you get lots of sponsorships so we don’t have to wait 10 years 😉
This man is GIFTED!!!!!!! So much fun to watch him in action. I mimic your excitement Janey. While it will take a while (rightly so) it will be a fun journey to make it come to reality. Excited for you and your family.
I love that he came up with a plan that was more her style than what she came up with. It is going to be gorgeous. And I love that he made it budget friendly and the plan allows you to do it in stages instead of having to rip everything out to start over.
Oh my goodness-my head is spinning. I know he is an amazing designer, but you have to do what’s right for you. I know your yard will be wonderful-looking forward to your journey😊
I’m dying with the budget friendly advice Michael has for you! I am absolutely incorporating some of these ideas in my designs for our each style estate.
I LOVE this GUY! He is a true visionary. Honestly speaking I thought this property was really ugly. I didn’t see potential. BUT with Michael’s excitement I can see it! Now you need to work on sponsors! Aqua scape, lazer gate mfg. etc etc etc!!!!
OH my goodness Janey how special are you to have Michael Glassman come over and do a landscape design consultation. He has many fabulous ideas. I can't wait to see your journey unfold. its going to be a whirlwind adventure and absolutely beautiful at its best.
I too, like Michael can” see “things. I think the most important thing to do first is remove what’s not going to stay; move your propane tank take out the plants and the trees that are not staying take out all of the rock planters cut the zigzag planter where it needs to be cut, take down the pergola, remove the deck that is in front of the front door. In my experience leaving those things and trying to work around them just doesn’t work because you’re not doing what you really want And you will continue to not do the plan that you want in the end. I am loving this series loving Michaels vision And I can’t wait to see what you do first
I am gobsmacked! Michael's plans are absolutely astounding. He just waves a wand and all the skepticism is erased. He brings focus to your vision. You are so fortunate to know him and to have gotten his planning talent on board. Wow, just wow.
this video is giving me goosebumps, i feel like i own your property with Michael designing it … getting me excited too! looking forward everyday for the transformation, ❤❤❤ michael glassman
I would definitely take the deck out and put concrete. I know its expensive but if you plan on this being your forever home it would be worth it. Wood decks attract all the rodents especially rats 🐀 to make a home. Our neighbors put a deck just like that a few years ago and I see them running out. With it that close to the house they might start coming inside if they havent already. 😳 love all of michaels ideas. Im not sure how to word this but im praying you still remain a everyday friendly gardener. If that makes sense. I've watched Laura for years but she isnt that anymore. She has fulltime workers now, spends 20,000 for a full grown tree etc. I have a house and garden like the one you just sold. I totally get it that the new house definitely needs some curb appeal just praying you still have a Small gardener feel. Love watching you and your channel. I live in Sacramento so your're definitely a neighbor. ❤😊
Janey, I have watched you for months. This is the most enjoyable video I have watched. You are ADORABLE -- I love your childlike enthusiasm. I will be watching this journey!! Thanks for sharing...
Michael is the only one that could say “your house has no curb appeal” and not be offended! I love him.
YET…we all know she will change that!
YES THEY WILL!
We cannot concrete everything #everywhere, but we will try 🇵🇪
Michael’s enthusiasm is so contagious! His ideas are amazing.

I can’t choose what I love the most but wow a gable, framing your front door would make all the difference and add so much curb appeal! I also really loved seeing you get so excited. Brings all of us, so much joy! We see the sparkle in your eyes (behind the sunglasses 😉) lol
I can’t wait to see the journey and transformation! Hugs from Texas
BOOM! I am hooked! I can't wait to see you implement his plans. His vision is perfect for your property. Start with the front door curb appeal!
I had to watch it twice!
Michael Glassman is an amazingly creative man! He blew me away. I couldn't stop watching!
Your excitement and his energy are everything! I love how he just takes off speed walking and you’re trying to catch up😂
We are glued to the tv right now watching this video. Not only are his ideas great, he's so quick!! Idea Idea Idea Idea flying all over the place. The way he sees the levels and shapes is brilliant. You have a lot of work ahead of you. How about you do most of the work and then we all come help do some planting?!
😁All the way from Austria ? 😊
Omg Janey, I love Michael’s ideas!
He needs his own show .
I can’t wait to see his vision come to life at your new place
That was a terrific design, especially as it can be done in steps providing the anticipation of a beautifully landscaped property overtime.
Wow what great ideas! I LOVE LOVE LOVE keeping and customizing the long, zig-zag front planter!!!! It can be your signature touch, your new swoop :)
Used to watch Michael on Landscapers Challenge. He was one of my favorites . Glad to see he is still so enthusiastic about his craft.
I had to watch this video in segments. The excitement was overwhelming. I started at 3 am, watched it in about 20 minute intervals--
Anyone else here Jason’s head going cha-Ching cha-Ching??
The best video on TH-cam today!!
What awesome ideas! Don't forget a spot for your greenhouse! I didn't hear that mentioned! Maybe you can incorporate a butterfly garden in one of your beds too! How fun to dream and plan on a blank slate. Loved the porch and patio ideas!
Thank you Michael Glassman for sharing your gift with us! A goldmine of ideas!
He’s AMAZING!!
Wow! His energy and your energy is so entertaining, adorable, and contagious!
WOW!!!! I cannot wait to see those ideas come to life in your new space!!! SO exciting!!!
I hope you get lots of sponsorships so we don’t have to wait 10 years 😉
Country romance 🙌. Gaaaaasppp! Hehehe. What a fun experience watching this video
Both of you have so much energy and it’s contagious
I am loving this series loving Michaels vision And I can’t wait to see what you do first
This makes a lot of sense to me, first remove what is not going to stay.
Thank you Michael! Love the gazebo idea!!! Go for it! Pond gardening is a new level of gardening you will love it! 😍
I am gobsmacked! Michael's plans are absolutely astounding. He just waves a wand and all the skepticism is erased. He brings focus to your vision. You are so fortunate to know him and to have gotten his planning talent on board. Wow, just wow.
Can’t wait everyday to watch your videos! So happy for you and your family 😊
this video is giving me goosebumps, i feel like i own your property with Michael designing it … getting me excited too! looking forward everyday for the transformation, ❤❤❤ michael glassman
Michael is brilliant in his profession. Love his energy and ideas and wished he lived closer to me. His ideas and your work will make that house pop.
With Michael's genius and your abilities, heaven! 🌲🥀🌿🌾🌺🌼🌳
Janey, I have watched you for months. This is the most enjoyable video I have watched. You are ADORABLE -- I love your childlike enthusiasm. I will be watching this journey!! Thanks for sharing...
