I watched my father take his last breath and die. It just shut off, then I watched the aftermath when rigor-mortis set in. I had to wait for the nurse to come to the house and I gave her the exact time of death. I called the undertaker, they came right away and I never saw him again either. He wanted cremation, so that’s what we did. It’s been 10 years and I miss my pop..
Alex seems to be much more comfortable opening up to the public about his loss now. The pain of not having Eddie around is so evident, but he is coping. Wishing Alex the best.
I think Alex sees how much we love him, he knew we loved Eddie, but I'm not sure if he knew that we love him just as much. Whatever he and Wolf choose to do with Van Halen's music, the fans (all hundreds and hundreds of millions of us) will be fine with. I hope Alex can find a small measure of peace from that.
Weird to see Alex so serious during an interview. He's always goofing around and laughing living the rock star dream in most interviews. He is extremely well spoken, and you can tell a little broken down after losing his bro. I've been listening to VH since I'm 8 years old. I just turned 51 and Eddie and company are literally the music to my life story. Can't imagine the industry without these guys. Much respect Alex
I lost my only child, a son, suddenly at 14. It’s been 12 years and Billy Bob is exactly right in my experience. There’s no getting past it. Not for a moment.
You can tell Alex will never play the drums again, because he feels like he owes that to the memory of Eddie... People should be respectful of that. When I lost my Dad 22 years ago, from that day forward the world has never looked the same to me, and it never will.. Some times things change that can never be changed back.
He may. Time might not heal and things will never be the same but people are resilient and Alex' still has a lot of life ahead of him. We all lose family, friends we change and like you said, the world looks different but we go on still
I believe Alex auctioned off all of the drums and percussion equipment they used. He now walks with a cane, so I doubt he's still playing. I never missed a VH show in my town, and I've probably seen them 15+ times, and the book Alex wrote is a good read. Check it out if you get the chance 👍
It was cigarettes that killed Ed. Everyone blames the drugs and alcohol, but ultimately if the dummies around him had helped Ed to kick the smoking habit then I bet that he'd still be with us. 90% of the photographs you see of Ed is of him holding one of those crappy cancer sticks. I hate that crap.
If you just smoke cigarette, your chance of getting cancer is 5% if you smoke for more than 20 years, your chance of getting emphysema is 100% smoking and drinking Is a lethal combination
Big Brother Alex don’t worry you will meet your Family members in the millennium, God bless you, and another thing I’m always practicing your Brothers playing through my Tab books, so I’m copying your Brother That’s Okay it makes me Happy. Thanks for your Family.
You get through it but you never get over it. In the last 9 years, I've lost 12 people, family and friends. People that were HUGE parts of my life that changed who I was, now gone. It becomes like combat now.... you close off. Grief is like a finger print. Its unique to you and you alone. Everyone handles it in their own way...........alone. I lost my brother in 2020, suddenly. I talked to him on the phone in the morning, that night he was dead. Every, single, day, there's something that smells, sounds, looks ....that brings him back. A phrase, a song, a food. Lost my dad this may....same thing. Over and over again. Lost my girlfriend of 15 years in 2018. Lost my best friend of 40 years to suicide in 2018. Lost my life long, childhood friend to suicide in 2021. Lost my drummer and best friend of 30 years to cancer in 2015, which meant I lost my band of 26 years too. Not the same without him. Too many to list on here and just too painful. One day at a time, one foot in front of the other. This is a part of growing old and getting old nobody talks about. Losing all your friends and family. Out of two of the bands I started in high school, I'm the ONLY one left. I take those memories with me when I leave.
I have to listen to the full interview. Alex is very articulate with his answers and the Bill Bob quote should cover everybody unless you are a heartless sob.
TOO BAD ANDERSON COVID PUSHING COOPER GOT THIS INTERVIEW. BILLY BOB IS RIGHT THOUGH, LOST MY BROTHER WHEN I WAS 14, HE WAS 24, MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT - WHAT BILLY BOB SAID...

This should have been a Rick Beato exclusive. End of story.
It's rare to see a photo of Ed without a fucking cigarette!
Rare? Lol you don't know what you're talking about.
Alex VH is very brave, honest, and dignified talking about his brother. Sad but real. I respect Alex Van Halen.
Death leaves a Heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a Memory no one can steal. RIP EVH, You are Brilliant

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my son when he was 7 months old. I thank God I have 2 others to keep me going. It never goes away

His passion for playing passed away with his brother . They were van Halen .
Thank you Alex for speaking publicly. Thank you Anderson for a respectful interview.
RIP EVH!😢

And in combination with the drugs was not good.

there's gotta be a lot of regret going on here. hope he find comfort in his grief

00:12 Let him finish! Completely ruined and cut short the answer he was getting ready to give. Don't be Howard Stern.
Push comes to shove...did he even realize, haha???
He should play the drums again. Get back on the horse.

You are not too bright.
Talking to Anderson?? Wow, you can't possibly be that hard up for conversation 😅
🚮🚮🚮💩💩💩
Stupid fucking thing to say.
I hope TRUMP goes on anderson cooper. We will find skeleton in his closet ;)
It’s always the Van Halen haters that talk shit
And the Van Halen brothers.
bullshit, I love Van Halen, but will be the first to admit that Eddie & Alex are, or were total egotistical control freaks and assholes…
