How to Make A Gift Box- a Cedar Gift Box for a Bottle of Good Scotch

- This is how to make a easy cedar wood box, it is a simple wooden gift box that can be built in about an hour or two and it smells delicious.
Here is the backstory:
My friend Mark wanted to give his dad a nice bottle of scotch for Father's Day and sent me some bucks to pick it up and deliver it since his dad lives near me. I decided to gift wrap it in a cedar box.
This is a quick build that can be made with pretty basic tools. The cedar is a very easy to work with material, smelling fantastic and sanding to a lovely touch.

I'm really impressed that your mitre saw can make vertical cuts so accurately. My el-cheapo saw leaves a curved face on anything that tall.

Should have found this way earlier Andy but another sub for you today. Fun build, I like the focus on the feel of it, nice departure. I like the smell of the eastern cedar species better than either the Western Red or Yellow Cedar varieties here on the west coast. Thanks for sharing!

Glen Morangie and cedar, all that’s missing is a fine Cuban cigar. What type of cedar did you use Andy? Looks like eastern white cedar not western red cedar which is pretty much all you find here in Seattle.
